STEAM education puts professional learning communities on the agenda by requiring teacher collaboration along with disciplinary integrity. In this study, a professional learning community in STEAM education was investigated by observing 49 teachers from different disciplines working in different districts during 16 weeks of interdisciplinary training and their practice with students. Teachers' perceptions of skills teaching self-efficacy, design self-efficacy and perceptions of interdisciplinary teaching were assessed using pre-post tests. The research concluded that the STEAM professional learning community study positively improved teachers' perceptions of skill teaching self-efficacy and interdisciplinary teaching, but was not sufficient to develop design self-efficacy. It was found that teachers' views of practice were positive and that interdisciplinary collaboration contributed to this. In light of the research findings, it was suggested that the use of professional learning communities in STEAM education may be an effective example of the interdisciplinary functioning of hands-on workshops.

The purpose of the present study is to examine the relationship between Visual Arts teacher candidates' media literacy, technology integration skills and STEM applications self-efficacy. The research, designed with the relational scanning model, was conducted with the participation of 204 Visual Arts teacher candidates. In order to collect the data, "Media Literacy," "Teacher Technology Skills" and "Teacher STEM Self-Efficacy Perceptions" scales were used in the study. The analysis of the research data was carried out with STEM analysis in the AMOS program. According to the research findings, visual arts teacher candidates' media literacy was found to be high, but their technology integration skills and STEM applications self-efficacy were found to be at moderate level. According to STEM analyses, media literacy and technology integration skills significantly predict STEM self-efficacy in Visual Arts teacher candidates, both separately and together.

In today's conditions, the needs of the labor market are changing in parallel with technological developments and the need for individuals trained in STEM is increasing. For this reason, it is a priority to increase the skills and awareness of teachers who will guide individuals trained in the field of STEM. In this study, a STEM training with educational robotics applications was designed for classroom teachers. The education included theoretical and practical STEM instruction conducted by expert academicians, utilizing next-generation educational robotic kits to facilitate sample STEM activities. The primary aim was to equip teachers with skills aligned with the elementary school curriculum, emphasizing a focus on STEM learning outcomes. As a result of the training, teachers were able to develop their own STEM activities. The study, which was modeled with a one-group pretest-posttest research design, examined the changes in the attitudes towards STEM and STEM awareness of the participants as a result of the STEM education they received. In conclusion, it is observed that the participants' attitudes towards STEM education and their awareness of STEM have increased by the end of the education. Additionally, the participants believe that STEM educational activities should be included in the curriculum.

The purpose of this research was to identify the need for gender equality education. For this purpose, the views of mathematics, science, and information technology teachers on the current situation of gender equality in schools were determined. In addition, the awareness of sixth, seventh and eighth grade middle school students on gender equality was examined. This study was a descriptive research conducted in a qualitative context. In data collection, an interview form on teachers' views and a written view form on students' awareness about gender equality were used. Research data were collected in the spring semester of the 2017-2018 academic year. As a result of the research, it is thought that an interdisciplinary gender equality education will be beneficial to improve students' awareness.

The general purpose of this research is to examine the mediating effect of STEM attitudes between STEM pedagogical content knowledge (CK) and STEM intra-class practice self-efficacy. This research was conducted in a causal design. A total of 345 teacher candidates, 261 females (75.7%) and 84 males (24.3%), were included in the research. The data were collected with the STEM Pedagogical CK Scale (STEM), Attitude Scale for STEM Education (STEMAS), and STEM Intra Class Practice Self-Efficacy Perceptions Scale. Path analysis technique was used in data analysis. In addition, bootstrapping analysis was used to evaluate the significance of the mediating effect of STEM attitudes. At this point, 1,000 resamples were made and lower-upper bound confidence intervals were determined. In research results, the mediating effect of STEM Attitudes was found to be significant in the relationship between STEM Pedagogical CK and STEM Intra Class Practice self-efficacy.

This study aims to examine the engineering and design-supported STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) experiences of students who participated in the "Design and Innovation Workshop" organized at the Science and Art Center (SAC) during the semester break. The experiences and perceptions of 17 students (10 males and 7 females) were analyzed in depth in this study, which was conducted using a phenomenology design from qualitative research methods. Semi-structured interview form, student diaries, field notes and STEM product drawing form were used as data collection tools. The research findings showed that students' participation in design and engineering-based STEM activities enhanced their problem-solving skills, creativity and teamwork. The theory accompanying the research suggests that these activities increase students' interest and motivation in STEM disciplines. The research results suggest that design and innovation workshops can positively influence students' attitudes and skills towards STEM fields.

Identifying student teachers' attitudes and anxiety toward artificial intelligence (AI) in regard to their field of study might be helpful in determining whether and how AI will be employed in their future classrooms. Hence, this study aims to compare pre-service STEM and non-STEM teachers' attitudes and anxiety toward AI. In this quantitative research, the causal-comparative research design was adopted. The study involved 520 pre-service teachers from a faculty of education at a public university in Türkiye. Among all, 51.5% were pre-service non-STEM teachers while 48.5% were pre-service STEM teachers. Data were collected through the Turkish versions of "the General Attitudes toward Artificial Intelligence Scale" and "the Artificial Intelligence Anxiety Scale". Diagnostic analytics were performed, and descriptive statistics and MANOVA were performed to analyse the data. As a result, pre-service teachers, in general, were mostly positive about AI, but undecided to be anxious about AI. STEM student teachers had more positive attitudes toward AI than non-STEM student teachers, and non-STEM student teachers were more anxious toward AI than STEM student teachers. The results imply that non-STEM teacher education curricula should be redesigned to be AI-integrated to better prepare teachers of the future as teachers with TPACK integrated with AI.

The purpose of this article is to examine the effects of STEM (Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education practices carried out at the primary school level in Turkey on various learning outcomes. The systematic review method was employed to accomplish this purpose. This study examined whether 30 comparisons from publications found through database searches and meeting the inclusion criteria revealed a significant difference. The analyses conducted led to a finding that STEM education used in primary schools had favorable and statistically significant effects on attitude towards STEM (f=6), academic achievement in a science course (f=5), 21st-century skills (f=2), interest in careers in STEM fields (f=2), scientific creativity (f=2), basic skills (f=2), entrepreneurial skills (f=1), social skill (f=1), reflections on the nature of science (f=1), STEM perception (f=1), and Scratch achievement (f=1). On the other hand, the study's findings showed that these practices did not produce a statistically significant difference in academic achievement in mathematics courses (f=1) and reflective thinking skills toward problem-solving (f=1). Additionally, the study's findings showed that 2 practices created a statistically significant difference in the positive direction on problem solving skills, and 2 practices did not create a statistically significant difference.

Exposing children to STEM education from an early age increases their curiosity and interest in STEM careers. Thanks to STEM education, children learn by working like little scientists and putting forward their own scientific products. Based on this approach, the aim of this research is to raise awareness among preschool children about the concept of light that they encounter in daily life. The study was carried out with 20 children aged 60-72 months in a public school in the spring term of 2022-2023 in Turkey under the name of "STEM Activity in Preschool Education: Let's Discover the Light!". The STEM activity plan was designed by the researchers in accordance with the 5E model under the guidance of the preschool education curriculum and Next Generation Science Standards. During the activity, the steps of the 5E model were followed, allowing children to design their projects to discover light, make observations, and achieve learning objectives related to STEM education in the preschool period. In this context, the present activity is effective for preschool children to receive STEM education and reach the determined international standards.

The purpose of the current study is to examine the effect of adapting the engineering design process to robotic coding, STEM, and the nature of science applications on teachers' self-efficacy towards engineering education and attitudes towards robotic coding. A weak experimental design with a single-group pre-test and post-test, one of the quantitative research methods, was used in the study. The sample of the study consists of 20 science teachers from all over Turkey who meet the application requirements within the scope of the project 2237 supported by TÜBITAK and working in schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education. The sample was determined using the purposive sampling method. In this study, teachers were given theoretical and practical training on engineering design process-based STEM, robotic coding, and the nature of science for a total of 36 hours over one week. Quantitative data were analyzed using dependent groups t-test and correlation analysis in the SPSS 23 program. They evaluated their ability to apply these activities in their classes. As a result of the analysis of the quantitative data of the study, it was observed that their self-efficacy towards engineering education and attitudes towards the use of robotic coding in the class showed a positive increase.

STEM education plays a key role in influencing and orienting students' interests towards STEM fields and careers. This influence is multifaceted, involving not only STEM content and experiences but also teachers, schools, and personal factors. The purpose of this study is to explore the factors impacting the academic performance of 951 tenth grade students in STEM subjects (physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, and information technologies) who are attending public and private schools in two provinces of Turkey. Using a correlational research model, the study assessed how students' personal characteristics, teacher effectiveness and school characteristics affect achievement in STEM courses. Data were collected using the 'Factors Affecting STEM Achievement Questionnaire (FA-STEM-A)', a 20-item questionnaire divided into three sub-dimensions. Analyses focused on the relationships between student characteristics, teaching quality, school infrastructure and STEM performance. Structural equation modelling revealed that positive student characteristics, especially fondness for STEM subjects and confidence in STEM abilities, moderately increase achievement. In contrast, negative factors attributed to teachers and schools, such as inadequate classroom activities, lack of educator expertise, inadequate technological resources, and large class sizes, hindered student performance. These findings emphasize the important influence of both inherent student qualities and external educational conditions in determining STEM education.

In the current study, an engineering design-based STEM activity was designed and implemented for 5th graders. The current activity is expected to provide guidance and perspective to teachers (practitioners) in designing and implementing an activity based on design-based learning, STEM activity, and engineering design process (EDP). At the same time, during the implementation of the activity, teachers and students experienced a STEM activity based on the EDP. In the fall semester of the 2022-2023 academic year, this STEM activity based on the engineering design process was planned for Friction force and water resistance in the 5th-grade middle school science course. Then, the activity was implemented in a class of 21 students. The activity was implemented in three class hours. This activity, titled "Let's Design a Water Slide Boat," aimed at designing a water slide boat that would be least affected by water resistance and friction force to improve students' engineering and design skills. This activity was based on NGSS and the objectives and outcomes set in the 5th-grade science curriculum of the Turkish Ministry of National Education.

Considering the structural similarities between STEM education and architectural education, it is thought that architectural education, which has a deep-rooted history, may be useful for improving STEM education. This research was planned to gain useful inferences for STEM education by trying to get to know architectural education. In this study, ethnographic field research method was used. During the four-week observations, students made presentations with projects, models and plan drawings. In this process, teachers' criticisms and students' defenses were analyzed through the data table. By discussing the identified elements of architectural education, at least six innovations and/or meaningful results were revealed in the context of STEM education. These are: (1) Students should be given the opportunity to solve open-ended problems on their own and should be encouraged to learn through trial and error in this process; (2) Students should be highly motivated when dealing with open-ended problems, for example, STEM project courses should be turned into graduation qualifications; (3)The importance of real-life context in STEM education should be emphasized and problems should be a part of life; In this context, sustainability and economic value dimensions should be highlighted; (4) At secondary and primary school levels, children should be encouraged to learn by experiencing and manipulating materials in the context of problems; (5) Courses that will improve technical drawing skills should be added to STEM education programs; and (6) In STEM disciplines, teachers should ensure theory/practice balance at the undergraduate level, and evaluations in applied projects should be made by a jury system.

This study was carried out within the scope of a nature education and science camp project. It aimed to investigate the effects of STEM activities conducted in out-of-school environments on teachers' STEM awareness and 21st-century skills. The research was designed according to the explanatory sequential pattern of the mixed method, and the quantitative and qualitative methods are the continuation of each other. Twenty-three science, elementary math, technology, and design teachers who worked at public middle schools participated in a six-day program that integrated STEM subjects with out-of-school learning. Seven different STEM-integrated out-of-school activities were implemented for six days in one of the central Anatolian regions in Turkey. STEM awareness and 21st-century skills scales were implemented in the study for data collection. A semi-structured interview was also conducted with teachers. The aim was for the teachers who participated in the project to integrate out-of-school and STEM education and then transfer this newly gained knowledge to their students. Both quantitative and qualitative findings support that teacher's acquisition of knowledge and skills throughout the science camp would support their students' craft, analytical thinking, motivation, problem-solving skills, and self-esteem. As such, out-of-learning environments should be used more in both STEM and 21st-century skills education.

The dramatic increase in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education studies has resulted in more authors promoting the use of Arduino in STEM education. Although there are educational research studies utilizing bibliometric procedures for the exploration of Arduino and STEM separately, there is a further need for research on their relationship. The current study utilizes several software tools (Vosviewer, Biblioshiny) and bibliometric procedures for this research domain. The documents were retrieved from the Scopus database from 2013 to 2022. Performance analysis was used to reveal publications and citation trends with the top contributors. Moreover, bibliographic mapping was used to comprehend the conceptual (co-occurrences), intellectual (bibliographic coupling), and social (collaboration network) structures of the retrieved data. The results revealed that the most prolific authors and institutes were addressed in Turkey. Besides, the most cited authors and institutes were from the USA. However, it seems this situation will change soon to the advantage of Turkey because of its highest annual growth rate and smallest document average age. This research also shows that there is a sign of the risk of monopolization in this area soon. Moreover, little cooperation was found within the dataset implying the importance and necessity of encouraging the mobility of researchers as well as increasing the collaboration between universities at both national and international levels. Overall, the study reveals that Arduino has great potential in using STEM activities in the future.

STEM education is on demand more than ever as the workforce relies on 21st century skills and STEM disciplines. This paper presents a framework (IMS-TEAM) for integration of mathematics and science with the use of technology and modeling in an authentic context. The activity based on this framework is designed for and implemented with forty-four 8th grade students in Turkey. The study was conducted to investigate the impact of the activity as well as the IMS-TEAM framework. A qualitative methodology was utilized. Data analysis revealed that different components of our conceptual framework fostered the integration of mathematics and science affecting the nature of students' engagement with the activity. Different frameworks are required to be adapted to different environments with the consideration of learners and teachers. Future research investigating the effectiveness of IMS-TEAM framework adapted to different content and disciplines would provide more evidence on the effectiveness of the framework.

The general aim of the study was to improve students' awareness of gender equality. An instructional design was developed in which mathematics, science, information technologies and software (ITS) courses were integrated, with the theme of gender equality at the center. The method of the study was determined as a case study. The participants of the study were 21 sixth-grade students at a public school in Turkey. Research data were collected using the "Views Form on Gender Equality" and "Practice Evaluation Form" developed by the researchers. According to the students' views, it was determined that an interdisciplinary education on gender equality had positive effects on improving students' awareness of gender equality. When the students' views about the practice process were examined, it was seen that the positive opinions about the process were high in number, and students presented few negative views.

Students enter the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) pipeline in primary school, but leak out of it over time for various reasons. To prevent leaks, it is important to understand the variables that affect attitudes towards STEM learning from an early age. This study sought to examine the predictors of young students' STEM learning attitudes. In the study, 493 primary school students (M[subscript age] = 9.62, SD = 0.72) from a Turkish sample were reached through a survey. We recruited our participants using the convenience sampling technique. Data were collected with the STEM learning attitude scale, the Multidimensional 21st Century Skills Scale, and the Computational Thinking (CT) test. Descriptive and correlational analyses were performed on the data. Then the relationship between variables was tested with a structural equation modeling. The results of the analyses showed that STEM learning attitudes and CT skills of primary school students demonstrated good fit indexes. Also results showed that twenty-first century skills mediated the relationship between STEM learning attitudes and CT skills. The results of the analysis are discussed, and recommendations are presented in terms of strengthening young students' place in the STEM pipeline.

Robotics, an emerging tool in STEM education, promises a multitude of educational benefits, ranging from hands-on learning experiences to fostering critical thinking and collaborative skills. However, the integration of robotics in classrooms is primarily contingent upon science teachers' inclination and willingness to adopt this technology. To bridge this gap, this research aimed to explore the adoption of robotics within STEM education by science teachers, by merging the Theory of Planned Behavior, Technology Acceptance Model, and Self-Determination Theory into a unified conceptual framework. Our hypothesis-driven approach tested using data from 605 science teachers across various regions in Turkey. The results indicate a significant positive correlation between science teachers' perceptions of the usefulness and ease of use of robotics and their intent to adopt it in their classrooms. Moreover, intrinsic motivational factors such as perceived autonomy and relatedness played a pivotal role in influencing teachers' behavioral intention towards robotics. The findings revealed that, compared to existing theories, our unified model offers a heightened understanding of the determinants influencing teachers' intentions to use robotics in STEM education. Ultimately, our research not only paves the way for a theoretically enriched understanding of technology adoption in STEM but also presents actionable insights for educators, curriculum designers, and policymakers aiming to capitalize on the myriad opportunities offered by robotics in contemporary education.

STEM education, which means integrated thinking, attracts the attention of early childhood educators and researchers. Engineering education, which naturally serves STEM integration, contributes to children's problem-solving skills with failure analysis and continual improvement habits of mind. Children need adult support in this process due to their developmental characteristics. This study focuses on the roles of teachers in situations where children fail to solve the problems they encounter in the engineering design process. In this direction, the research was carried out with a case study. The participants were 17 preschool teachers working in southwestern Turkey and 255 children in their classes. The data for the study were collected through observation and a semi-structured interview protocol. The data were analyzed by content analysis. According to the results, teachers facilitated failure analysis and continual improvement processes in the problems faced by children by encouraging them to rethink the problem, encouraging them to persist, and inviting communication and cooperation with friends. The findings highlight teacher encouragement as important in children's failure analysis and continual improvement processes.

The relationship between highly desired 21st century skills, such as students' attitudes toward STEAM, critical thinking dispositions, and decision-making abilities, and the role of gender on these associations was investigated in this study. The data was collected from 4th grade students in the 2022-2023 academic year using the typical case sampling method. "STEAM Attitude Scale", "Critical Thinking Disposition Scale" and "Decision-Making Skill Scale" were utilized. The mediation model was estimated using the whole sample, followed by multigroup analyses that employed gender as the moderation variable. The results indicated that primary school students' attitudes towards STEAM, their critical thinking dispositions, and their decision-making skills were at a high level. The mediation analysis revealed that attitudes towards STEAM had direct effect on decision-making skills, and critical thinking disposition was found to be partially mediating this association. Multigroup analyses provided evidence for the significant moderating role of gender pertaining to the specified associations in the model. The findings provide insights into the importance of developing positive attitudes towards STEAM disciplines regarding their evidential effect on critical thinking disposition and informed decision-making skills in primary schools and the necessity of attending to the role of gender in future educational interventions.

This study was conducted to examine the effect of mathematical modelling activities on the mathematical modelling skills of secondary school students in the context of STEM education. The study was designed according to the embedded design, one of the mixed research methods. The study group of research consists of 66 eighth-grade students studying in a public school in the central district of a large province in the south of Turkey in the 2020-2021 academic year. While the criterion sampling method, one of the purposeful sampling methods, was used to determine the quantitative study group of the research, the maximum variation sampling method was used to determine the qualitative study group. On the other hand, in the context of STEM education, mathematical modelling problems, evaluation rubric and semi-structured interview forms were used as data collection tools in the research. As a result of the research; It was concluded that mathematical modelling activities in the context of STEM education positively improved the mathematical modelling skills of secondary school students. In addition, it has been concluded that the students who receive education with mathematical modelling activities applied in the context of STEM education gain different interdisciplinary perspectives, experience positive developments in their thinking skills, adapt to group work more easily, and increase their interest in engineering and technology.

Students should be provided with more meaningful learning experiences to attract more students to STEM careers, Out-of-School learning environments can offer students exciting and motivating learning opportunities that formal environments cannot provide. Therefore, national education reforms in many countries that are working on popularizing STEM career have shifted STEM education to out-of-School learning environments. In this study which used a quasi-experimental design with pretest-posttest control group, the effect of out-of-School learning environments on middle school 6th grade students' interest in STEM field has been investigated. The participants of the research consisted of 14 girls and 22 boys in total 36 students. Within the scope of the research, a STEM education program consisting of 6 different learning environments, four of which is out of school and two in school, has been prepared. The training program of the study was completed in 16 weeks. In the research, the pretest-posttest control group research model was used, and the data were collected using the STEM career interest scale. The results obtained from this study show that non-formal education in out-of-School learning environments is effective in the orientation of secondary school students to STEM career fields especially Science related professions.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of design-based STEM activities developed by prospective secondary school maths teachers on their problem-solving skills and scientific creativity. An explanatory sequential mixed methods design was used in the current study, involving 45 senior students (i.e., prospective secondary school maths teachers) studying at a state university in the West Black Sea Region, Turkey during the academic year 2018/19. The participants were selected according to a purposive sampling method to be involved in our study, which was conducted during a course named "Science, Technology, and Society," and the implementation stage, of which took a total of 14 weeks, as three course hours per week. The "Problem Solving Inventory" (PSI) and "Scientific Creativity Test" (SCT) were used for the purpose of obtaining the quantitative data of the research, whereas interviews were conducted with the prospective teachers for collecting the qualitative data. The quantitative data were analyzed using a dependent t-test, while qualitative data was analyzed by descriptive analysis. A slight increase was detected in participants' problem-solving skills in relation to developing STEM activities, though not statistically significant. However, as a result of the implementation process, the scientific creativity of prospective teachers turned out to increase in such a way that it indicated a statistically significant difference.

The purpose of this study was to reveal the effect of digital technology-assisted STEM (Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education on academic achievement. To achieve this purpose, experimental studies, including pre-test and post-test, were examined by meta-analysis. The study's data were obtained from 34 studies that met the inclusion criteria due to the searches made in the Databases of the National Thesis Center of the Council of Higher Education, where Turkey's postgraduate theses are located. Effect sizes of 38 comparisons were calculated from these studies. The study calculated effect sizes based on Cohen's d coefficient. The effect size obtained after the analysis was found to be d=2.582. This finding shows that STEM education assisted by digital technology greatly affects academic achievement. In addition, a significant difference was found between the effect sizes in the study according to the level of education and the subject discipline of academic achievement. This research is expected to contribute to educational practice and future research.

This study examines the pedagogical content knowledge of pre-service primary school teachers towards STEM. The research's study group consists of 202 pre-service primary school teachers studying at the faculty of education of two universities in the 2021-2022 academic year. The mixed method was used in the study. The survey model was used in the quantitative dimension of the study, and the case study was used in the qualitative dimension. The study's data were collected using the "STEM Pedagogical Content Knowledge Scale" and the "semi-structured interview form" developed by the researcher. A statistics program was used to analyze quantitative data, and content analysis was used to analyze qualitative data. According to the quantitative results of the study, the pedagogical content knowledge of pre-service primary school teachers towards STEM did not show the difference in terms of the variables of graduated high school, science proficiency, and desire to receive STEM education. In addition, differences were observed between the gender and technology sub-dimension, grade level and science and mathematics sub-dimension, having STEM knowledge and science sub-dimension, STEM competence and mathematics sub-dimension. According to the qualitative results of the study, it was determined that pre-service primary school teachers' perspectives toward STEM education were positive. However, they considered themselves inadequate because they did not receive training.

The importance of this research is to determine the effect of integrating the REACT strategy, which is a practice of the context-based learning method, with STEM education on students' scientific literacy and STEM motivation. The research was conducted with 82 seventh-grade students. A quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test control group was used. The study group of the research consists of three seventh-grade classrooms selected by simple random sampling method. Scientific literacy scale and STEM motivation scale were used as data collection tools in the research. Before the implementation, these scales were administered to all three groups as a pre-test. Then, context-based REACT strategy-supported STEM activities were administered to the experimental-I group, context-based REACT strategy-supported activities to the experimental-II group, and science practicing teaching program to the control group. After practicing, the scales were applied to the groups as a post-test. ANCOVA test was used in the analysis of the data. According to the data obtained from the research, it has been found that the experimental-I group, in which context-based STEM activities were implemented, showed a higher level of positive impact on scientific literacy and STEM motivation compared to the control groups, which received context-based learning activities in experiment-II and science practice curriculum.

The research explores the effect of STEM and STEM-based robotic activities on the development of students' perceptions of mental risk-taking and its predictors and their perceptions of inquiry learning skills related to science. A mixed method was applied in the research. Its sample consisted of 35 students in a high school of the Ministry of National Education in a medium-scale province of the Eastern Anatolia Region between the 2017-2018 educational year. The Scale for Perceptions of Mental Risk-taking in Science Learning and Its Predictors (SPMRSLIP) and the Scale for Perception of Inquiry Learning Skills for Science (SPILSS) were applied to obtain the quantitative data in the research. In addition, the focus group interview was held. The STEM and STEM-based robotic activities have been performed with the students for 14 weeks. In the findings obtained at the end of the research, no significant difference was determined between the perception pre-test and post-test scores related to mental risk-taking and its predictors in science learning. However, difference was found in the dimension of interest. It was found that there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores in the inquiry learning skills perception scale for science and the qualitative findings also supported this result. According to the results, it can be recommended that STEM and Robotic educations should be given in other grades.

This study aims to investigate the motivation and career interest in STEM fields of high school students enrolled in public schools in the districts of Kayseri in Turkey according to various factors, to ascertain the relationship between the two variables, and to present a model for the relationship between the variables. The causal-comparative research and correlation (relational) research designs, which are among the quantitative research designs, were used in this study, which involved 1,667 students from five high education institutions situated. The research employed the Career Interest Scale in STEM Fields and the Motivation Scale in STEM Fields to gather data. It has been found that students whose favorite and most successful course is about STEM have much higher motivation and career interest in STEM fields than the other pupils. According to the study, students who are considering majoring in one of the university's STEM fields have much higher motivation and career interest in STEM fields than other students do in general. Additionally, the connection between motivation and career interest in STEM fields was looked at. According to research, students' motivation in STEM fields accounts for 70% of changes in their career interests in those fields.

Purpose: As a borrowed concept, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education holds limited relevance in many country contexts. This study investigates how school administrators in Turkey view STEM education from three dimensions: (a) their understanding of STEM education, (b) their experiences of STEM implementations, and (c) their perception of their roles in STEM implementation. Design/Approach/Methods: This phenomenological study analyzes the perceptions of school principals working in prominent high schools in Turkey. Findings: The findings indicate that there are gaps in STEM implementation at both the conceptual level and the school level, including epistemological issues, infrastructural gaps, mismatch with overall organizational culture, and knowledge and skill gaps. Despite efforts to integrate STEM education into educational practices, significant deficiencies are making it an unrealistic practice in Turkey. Originality/Value: While the literature on STEM education is expanding, a few empirical studies focus on school management in relation to STEM education. Arguably, despite promising to transform science and mathematics teaching, STEM education appears to have limited relevance to science and mathematics teaching in Turkey--rendering it yet another example of concept and policy borrowing in education.

This research aimed to introduce a STEM activity specifically prepared in accordance with the engineering design process and to examine a group of prospective preschool teachers' views about the activity. A total of 16 prospective teachers studying in the final year of a public university in the West Black Sea Region, Turkey, during the fall semester of the 2021/22 academic year were the participants of the study. The STEM activity was based on the problem of making a fish model that can sink, swim and float in water. At the end of the activity, an open-ended activity opinion form was used to gather the prospective teachers' views about the activity. The data were analyzed using the descriptive analysis method by taking into consideration the themes related to STEM, as specified in the theoretical framework. The results of the study show that the prospective teachers took the opportunity to experience how a STEM activity is held, that they found the activity fun and interesting, as well as conducive to learning science concepts and higher-order thinking skills. As for the negative aspects of the activity, the respondents stated that the activity was time-consuming, and that it was difficult to decide on and build the design. We believe that this study will provide theoretical and practical contributions to both researchers and preschool teachers.

Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education has recently been gaining popularity in a number of countries. This seems to have ramifications for increasing the intensity with which professional development programmes are implemented at both in-service and pre-service teacher levels. The present study provides a systematic literature review on scientific articles published between 2015 and 2021, examining how STEM teacher professional development programmes (STEMTPD) led in the pre-service teacher corpus. Following a screening process, 66 studies were found to be eligible and in compliance with the review criteria. The review's findings indicate a positive trend in STEM-TPD scientific articles, with an increase in publications from year to year in many countries. The majority of studies were conducted in the United States and Turkey using various research methods. The STEM-TPD programme is carried out in three areas, namely, included in existing courses, conducted outside of lectures, and carried out on newly developed courses. We also ultimately discuss the seven most frequently used elements of STEM-TPD and the types of participant collaboration.

The purpose of this research is to examine the coding skills of five-year-old children in terms of some variables. The research sample comprises 160 children aged five years studying in kindergarten affiliated with the Ministry of National Education in Gaziantep city center in the 2021-2022 academic year. As a data collection tool in the research, the "personal information form," which includes personal information about children and their parents, and "CodingTest 2", the short form of "CodingTest" and "CodingTest," developed by Kalyenci et al. (2022), were used to evaluate the coding skill levels of five-year-old children. Pearson correlation analysis, t-test, and ANOVA were used to analyze data. As a result of the findings obtained from the research, it was concluded that coding skills were not related to gender but were related to whether the children had coding education, the education level of parents, and their families' income level.

This research is a bibliometric study that focuses on publications containing both terms "technological pedagogical content knowledge" (TPACK or TPCK) and "science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics" (STEAM). The former addresses knowledge that teachers are expected to gain, whereas the latter addresses a new integrating subject field. Both terms dominate contemporary education research, especially in relation to technology and its impact on education. These two terms have been researched individually by bibliometricians. The aim of this research is to examine articles that combine these terms, as there seems to be a lack of such studies. With the help of the Scopus platform, 2,608 articles published since 2007 were collected and analyzed.

This research aims to compare the awareness, efficacy and attitudes, and opinions of science teachers (STs) and prospective science teachers (PSTs) toward STEM. In this study, convergent parallel design from mixed methods was used. The study group consists of 45 STs and 177 PSTs. In the quantitative dimension of the study, "Teacher Efficacy and Attitudes Towards STEM Survey" and "STEM Awareness Scale " were applied to the study group, which was formed by sampling criteria and maximum diversity from purposeful sampling. In the qualitative dimension of the research, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 24 STs and 25 PSTs selected through maximum diversity sampling from purposeful sampling. As a result of the research, it was observed that although the STEM awareness, efficacy, and attitudes of STs and PSTs were similar, they had positive attitudes. However, most of the participants in both groups considered themselves inadequate in STEM, expressed their opinions about the adverse effects of STEM applications as well as their positive effects, and that STEM applications were effective in career selection and country development.

This study aims to investigate the effect of robotics design with Arduino on students' attitudes towards ICT courses and STEM. In this context, robotics design activities with Arduino were conducted with an experimental group, while the current IT curriculum was applied to a control group. The study lasted for a period of 12 weeks and was conducted with 53 middle school students. The Information & Communication Technologies Course Attitude Scale (ICTCAS) and STEM Attitude Scale (SAS) were used as data collection tools. The study's findings revealed that robotics design activities with Arduino increased the students' attitudes towards engineering and technology in the context of STEM and ICT courses. Additionally, the participating students supported the use of robotics activities in their ICT course, and they reportedly found the activities to be fun, interesting, different, difficult, complex, and time-consuming. During the first weeks of the study, the students were excited, very curious, interested, enthusiastic, worried, and hesitant to participate in the activities and avoided them. However, in the subsequent weeks, they gained practical experience related to the activities and took on a more active role in the class.

The goal of STEM education is to integrate the disciplines of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in a way that facilitates holistic learning. Students are also supported in developing creative solutions to problems using the STEM approach. Other STEM fields are often linked through engineering and engineering design. Throughout this study, students participated in engineering design-oriented activities that connected STEM disciplines. This study aims to reveal the effect of a learning environment based on the STEM approach in science education on students' academic achievement and motivation. This study used a quasi-experimental, non-equivalent pretest-posttest control group design. Seventh-graders who attended a public middle school in the Aegean Region of Türkiye participated in the study. The research findings showed a significant difference in science achievement between the control group in the curriculum-based learning environment and the experimental group in the STEM-based learning environment. It was found, however, that motivation toward science was not significantly different. The results indicated that the STEM-based learning environment positively affected science achievement.

The aim of this study is to determine the effects of STEM activities carried out with the flipped learning model within the scope of science class on the scientific creativity, perceptions about STEM, and attitudes towards STEM of 4th grade primary school students and to reveal students' opinions about the learning process. The sample of this study consisted of 57 fourth grade students attending a public primary school in a city center in the Eastern Black Sea region in the spring semester of the 2021-2022 academic year. Mixed method was used in the study. Quasi-experimental method with experimental and control groups was used in the quantitative dimension of the study, and case study was used in the qualitative dimension. In the study, data were collected using the "Scientific Creativity Scale", "STEM Attitude Scale", "STEM Perception Test" and a "semi-structured interview form" developed by the researcher. SPSS 21 package program was used to analyze the collected quantitative data and content analysis was used to analyze the qualitative data. The quantitative results of the study revealed that STEM activities conducted with the Flipped Learning Model had a positive effect on students' scientific creativity levels and STEM perceptions, but had no effect on their attitudes towards STEM. The qualitative results of the study revealed that students mostly found the activities useful, instructive and fun. In line with the results obtained from the study, the use of STEM activities supported by the Flipped Learning model is recommended at all levels of education.

The aim of this study is to examine the effect of robotic coding education on cognitive skills awareness and learning responsibilities. The training prepared in this process was designed and implemented by subject experts. The training has been organized as 4 hours a week to last 4 weeks. In this study, both quantitative and qualitative research methods used as a mixed method were used as a research model. Explanatory Sequential Pattern is used. In this study, quantitative research method and "Pretest - Posttest Control Group Semi-Experimental Pattern Model" was used as the research model. As a result of the applications, a statistically significant difference was found between the values of students' metacognitive awareness and learning responsibilities before and after education (p <0.05). The eta squared value was examined to determine the effect size of the robotic coding environment on the total of Academic Achievement, Metacognitive Awareness Scale for Children (MCS-C) and Responsibility for Learning Scale. It can be said that the robotic coding environment has a "large" effect size on Academic Achievement, Metacognitive Awareness for Children and Responsibilities for Learning.

This study employed a bibliometric analysis of research on attitudes in STEM education to identify patterns and themes within scholarly publications to address a research gap in the current literature. The publications indexed in the SCOPUS database on attitudes and STEM were analyzed to collect data. 173 articles were chosen for analysis. Bibliometric analysis revealed an upward trend in research publications between 2008-2022, with notable increases in 2013 and 2018 and between 2018 and 2022. Curtin University was the institution that contributed the most to the literature during this period. The results also showed that institutions from Australia, Taiwan, and the United States contributed equally to research on attitudes and STEM. Another finding is that the United States had the most publications on attitudes and STEM. The International Journal of Science Education was cited the most, followed closely by The Journal of Research in Science Teaching and Science Education. Barry J. Fraser and Jaquelynne S. Eccles are authors who were cited more than one hundred times in the publications. Based on the findings, implications for further studies are drawn.

Various studies have reported that students have limited, stereotypical perceptions of STEM fields. However, few studies have attempted to evaluate interventions undertaken with the aim of changing female student's perceptions of STEM professions. This research aimed to examine the changes in mental images among female students as a result of interacting with STEM professionals in a STEM camp. The Draw-a-Scientist Test was revised, and female students were asked to draw and describe STEM professionals at work before and after attending STEM camp. The participating students attended workshops and career talks given by STEM professionals. The findings showed that the perceptions of the participating female students regarding gender images of STEM professionals changed. After the STEM camp, it was also observed that knowledge about STEM professionals and the content of their work had increased. The studied intervention program for female students positively contributed to changes in the students' mental images of STEM professionals. Therefore, it is recommended that female students interact with professionals working in STEM fields to change their perceptions of those fields.

STEM education is included in education programs by many countries on a global scale. Pre-service teachers are also expected to apply STEM education in their future classrooms. The aim of the research was to determine how pre-service science teachers perceived STEM education, whether they adopted it or not, whether they thought of themselves as sufficient, and the environment and situations that affected their STEM experience. The understanding of the pre-service science teachers was tried to be determined before the theoretical STEM education, after the theoretical education and after the STEM application. The study group of the research consisted of a total of 66 pre-service teachers. Content analysis results of the interviews were carried out in three stages. It was found that there was no single STEM definition that pre-service science teachers agreed on. The training provided increased the STEM competency levels of pre-service science teachers. However, the majority of pre-service science teachers defined themselves as having intermediate competence in STEM education. Pre-service teachers adopt STEM education and believe that it will contribute to students. Pre-service science teachers had the most difficulty in disciplinary integration during the STEM theory and practice education. The most preferred model after both theoretical knowledge and application was the problem-based STEM model.

This study explored how a professional development experience changed preschool teachers' perceptions of integrated STEM education. In addition, the research examined what teachers learned about STEM education with this experience. The study employed a qualitative research design, precisely a case study approach. Thirty preschool teachers participated in the study. The professional development program spanned seven days, with a total duration of 48 hours. Data for the research study were gathered through a questionnaire that included drawing and open-ended items, as well as through participant journals. Thematic analysis was employed as the data analysis method. The qualitative data were coded and categorized during the analysis process. Prior to the professional development, it was found that preschool teachers had different perceptions regarding integrated STEM education. These perceptions were superficial and exhibited inaccurate and incomplete understandings of STEM education. It was revealed that the professional development experience eliminated teachers' misunderstanding about STEM education and enabled them to gain a more complex understanding of STEM education. In addition, the study revealed that the professional development experience significantly enhanced teachers' understanding of the theoretical background of STEM education, facilitating their application of STEM and resulting in positive change in teachers' feelings towards STEM education.

This study examines the effect of teaching with the STEM Cycline of the 'Force and Energy' unit on students' creativity, metacognitive awareness, and academic achievement. The nonequivalent control group design, one of the quasi-experimental models, was used in the study. The study included 54 seventh-grade students studying at a public school in western Turkey, 27 of whom were in the experimental group while 27 were in the control group. The experimental group was taught with the STEM Cycline, whereas the control group took the instruction within the science curriculum framework. The experimental group designed models using Web 2.0 tools related to the given problems and used these models to solve them by printing them from a 3D printer. "Force and Energy Academic Achievement Test", "Scientific Creativity Test" and "Metacognitive Awareness Inventory" were used as data collection tools in the study. SPSS 25.0 package program was used to analyze the data. The results showed that the STEM education in the experimental group increased the academic achievement, creative skills, and metacognitive awareness of the seventh-grade students in the 'Force and Energy' unit. While the students' academic achievement in the control group increased significantly following the instruction, no difference was observed in their creativity and metacognitive awareness. Suggestions were made according to the results obtained from the study.

The study investigated the effects of a combination of Peer Discussion and Isomorphic Problems (PD-IPs) on high school students' graph understanding and conceptual learning. The study was conducted on kinematics and Newton's Laws of Motion with 67 high school students from two groups. The experimental group (EG) consisted of 34 students, while the control group (CG) combined with 33 students. The students in EG were taught using the PD-IPs approach, while those in CG were taught using the traditional method. The research data were collected using the Force Motion Achievement Test (FMAT), which was composed by selecting multiple-choice questions from some standardized tests (Force Concept Inventory, Mechanic Baseline Test, Test of Understanding Graphs in Kinematics). The FMAT includes 25 multiple-choice questions. 11 were related to graph understanding, and the rest were related to conceptual learning. The research showed that the PD-IPs approach had a more positive effect on students' understanding of graphs and conceptual learning than the traditional teaching method. The findings indicate that implementing the PD-IPs approach requires minimal effort while demonstrating the potential to evaluate and improve high school student's academic performance in physics education.

The impact of engineering design-based STEM education on 9th-grade high school students' attitudes toward STEM and their problem-solving skills was examined in this study. The subject of factors affecting the heat conduction rate in solids was taught using STEM education. In an experimental design with one group pre-test and post-test, students completed a STEM attitude scale and problem-solving inventory before and after the treatment. According to the paired samples t-test findings, students' attitudes toward mathematics, engineering, and 21st-century skills increased significantly, whereas their attitudes toward science and problem-solving did not change. The eta-squared effect size suggests a high level of change for other dependent variables but only a moderate change for problem-solving skills. In light of the findings, several recommendations about incorporating engineering design-based STEM education have been suggested.

In this study, the aim is to present a STEAM-based music activity for gifted students and to determine the students' awareness of the process at the end of the activity. The study group of the research consists of exceptionally gifted students who applied to STEAM Based Music Activities Workshop in the Halil Inalcik Science and Art Center. Accordingly, we determined the study group of the research as 25 5th grade students studying at Bursa Halil Inalcik Science and Art Centre in the 2023--2024 academic year. At the same time, these students also take information technologies course. We carried out the activity of "I design my instrument with Scratch program and Makey Makey" for a total of 8 hours in 4 weeks, i.e., two hours each week. The activity was prepared in line with the 5E learning model. At the end of the research, we applied the Formative Evaluation Form to the students and obtained data about their awareness of the process. We used the content analysis method to analyze the date. In the research, we determined that the students enjoyed the activity, their interest in music increased, music can be used effectively in different fields, coding studies with music are more fun, and they developed self-confidence by liking their work. In line with the data obtained in the research, the conclusion was that the realisation of music lessons with different fields by using today's technologies has positive effects on students.
