- Abstract
Background: The significant challenges of the twenty-first century revolve around environmental issues. Knowing individuals' environmental attitudes and what they see as environmental problems is crucial to mobilizing them to action. Nurses hold a significant responsibility in addressing and combating environmental challenges., Research Aim: This study had two objectives: understanding how nursing students classify environmental issues and examining the effects of gender, economic status, school district, family environmental awareness, and perception of global responsibility on their conceptualization of environmental issues., Design: A descriptive cross-sectional study using a questionnaire., Setting and Participants: The sample consisted of 1466 nursing students from four faculties of two public universities in Turkiye. The study was conducted between January and April 2023., Methods: Data were collected using a form that included 19 issues ranging from ecological problems to social problems related to the environment, as well as the Global Social Responsibility Scale (GSRS). The data were analyzed using explanatory factor analysis, multiple regression, and mediator analysis., Results: Participants classified the environmental issues as eco-social-oriented and human-oriented. First-year students (B = -0.201), male students (B = -0.263), those studying in rural schools (B = -0.123), and those who rarely discuss environmental issues in the family (B = -0.197) describe the problems in the eco-social oriented dimension as less "environmental." The increase in the action-oriented responsibility (B = 0.014) and ecological responsibility (B = 0.077) scores of The Global Social Responsibility Scale leads to an increase in recognizing the problems in this area as environmental issues. Similarly, first-year students (B = -0.340), male students (B = -0.293), and those who rarely discussed environmental issues in the family (B = -0.243) led to a decrease in recognizing problems as environmental in the human-oriented issues dimension. In contrast, poor socioeconomic perception (B = 0.245), negative perception of the future (B = 0.145), and increased action-oriented responsibility (B = 0.024) and ecological responsibility (B = 0.042) led to an increase in recognition of human-oriented issues. The increase in the national responsibility score decreased the score of environmental assessment of the problems in this area (B = -0.017). In addition, the perception of global responsibility partially mediates between students' sociodemographic characteristics and environmental issues recognition scores in both sub-dimensions., Conclusion: This study presents results that point to individual differences among nursing students in addressing environmental issues, reveal the impact of family on these differences, and finally show the importance of curricula to increase students' global social responsibility during their education., Competing Interests: Declaration of competing interest No financial or personal matters may pose a conflict of interest., (Copyright © 2024 Elsevier Ltd. Environmental issues comprise a vital driver of innovation in business companies. The article begins from the historical view by recognizing the factors and substantial steps in technological innovation associated with raising environmental awareness in recent history. Our research is carried out to determine the similarities and differences between the perceptions of e-business managers of Northern Cyprus and Turkey regarding creativity in environmental issues in the organization. To do so, a descriptive research model is utilized. The research provides information on the extent to which the problems experienced by comparing Northern Cyprus and Turkey are similar to one. It is understood that the new ideas of the creative, managers, and employees related to the business and environmental challenges can be put together, and from these ideas, productivity and production can come to a much better situation with the new management that the business will know to implement. Creativity is not only a thought structure that is necessary to increase the production and productivity of the work-life, to survive international competition, to succeed, but also essential for the growth of the adult youth of the countries as much higher quality people. This research aims to reveal the effects of educational comics on teaching environmental issues and environmental organizations subjects in the 7th grade Social Studies course. The research was carried out according to mixed research method. The research included 83 students at 7th grade in a public secondary school in the Mediterranean region of Turkey. The experimental group consisted of 41 students and the control group consisted of 42. At the end of the study, statistical significance was found in favour of post-test scores between the mean scores of the students in the experimental group who were instructed by educational comics and those of the students in the control group in terms of academic achievement and attitude towards the environment. When the effect of the academic achievement pre-test scores was taken under control, the results of the academic achievement post-test scores of the students in the experimental and control groups were found to be significantly different from each other, which was in favour of the experimental group. Likewise, when the effect of pre-test scores on the environmental attitude was taken under control, it was found that the post-test scores of the students in the experimental and control groups differed significantly and this difference was in favour of the experimental group. And also it was concluded that students have a positive perspective on educational comics both in cognitive and affective aspects. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper surveys the nascent experiments in political ecology underway in predominantly Kurdish areas of south-eastern Turkey, known as Bakûr, and Rojava (northern Syria). The Kurdish freedom movement is attempting to consolidate a social revolution with ecology at its heart in a most unpromising context, given its ongoing struggle against Islamic State and regional embargoes. This greening of its ideology can be significantly attributed to the influence of American social ecologist Murray Bookchin, an inspiration for Kurdish attempts to implement democratic confederalism, which comprises principles of direct democracy, gender equality and ecological well-being in a needs-based economy. The Mesopotamian Ecology Movement has emerged from activist campaigns opposing dam construction, climate change and deforestation in the region, to inform ecology councils tasked with formulating policies that reflect this philosophical paradigm shift. The essay considers the prospects for the ecological initiatives in Turkish and Syrian Kurdistan. It argues that, confronted by formidable challenges, expansion of the democratic confederal model beyond the heartlands of Bakûr and Rojava, and international solidarity, are preconditions for their endurance. ENERGY policy , *ENVIRONMENTAL policy , *ENERGY consumption , *EMISSIONS (Air pollution) , *CARBON dioxide , *GREENHOUSE gas mitigation - Abstract
As would be expected, the rapid expansion of energy production and consumption has brought with it a wide range of environmental issues at the local, regional, and global levels. With respect to global environmental issues, Turkey's carbon dioxide emissions have grown along with its energy consumption. States have played a leading role in protecting the environment by reducing emissions of greenhouse gases. In this regard, renewable energy resources appear to be the one of the most efficient and effective solutions for clean and sustainable energy development in Turkey. Turkey's geographical location has several advantages for extensive use of most of these renewable energy sources. This article presents a review of the energy and environmental policies in Turkey. Over the last few decades, a number of Turkish citizens who live in the eastern part of country have migrated to the western part of the country. This caused some problems in the energy utilization and environmental pollution in the western regions in Turkey. For this reason, in the coming decades, global environmental issues could significantly affect patterns of energy use in Turkey. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The rapidly increasing of world population has increased the need of energy and food. The gap which has occurred in agriculture are tried to resolve by opening new agricultural areas and irrigation and using of input. Meanwhile the gap which has occurred in energy are tried to resolve by dams, wind and waves which are relatively more environmental and likely renewal energy sources. The exhaustible energy sources which are distributed unevenly across the globe as well as accelerated industrialization in the world has increased the importance of renewable energy sources. Generally which are known as the most renewable and environmental energy sources are the dams. Whereas in our country the dams which are benefited greatly in irrigation and energy, narrowing the agriculture fields, siltation, degradation of ecosystem and migration bring too many problems with. Abstract: This study aims to explore the suitability and significance of waste management as the first step to creating green supply chains in general, and as an extension of this exploration we address the following research questions: [(1)] What should be the starting point both for individual companies and supply chains for becoming green? Can it be waste management? [(2)] What is the level of environmental consciousness of firms and how is it possible to assess the potential level of participation if a waste management system was to be implemented in their supply chains? [(3)] Which sector would be the most appropriate for implementing a green policy in terms of attracting the attention of other sectors and customers simultaneously? [(4)] What are the dynamics of interdependency and interaction within the upstream and downstream partners in the chain in terms of green consciousness? In discussing green issues, the importance of the mentioned “attracting attention” underlies the importance of consciousness. Addressing this issue requires a general understanding of the current situation in the Turkish market in the first place, and then to extending this understanding to be able to evaluate more effectively the potential of waste management to help companies and consumers gain consciousness at the same time. Based on the literature and personal experience, it was decided to select the electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) sector for research. The focus group method was selected to collect opinions of managers from the EEE sector in Izmir. The focus group study was implemented in two sessions. Results showed that the waste management implementation could provide a good starting point for introducing green supply chains, and that the EEE sector could serve as a model for other sectors and consumers, as this sector''s products directly affect electricity consumption. Also, we propose a conceptual model regarding dynamics of interdependency and interaction within the upstream and downstream partners in the chain in terms of green consciousness. The key contribution of this study is an analysis of the dynamics between upstream and downstream members in the supply chain, in terms of adopting a more environmentally aware attitude. The analysis of these dynamics is visualized with a proposed conceptual model. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

ENERGY policy , *RENEWABLE energy sources , *AIR pollution , *POLLUTION prevention , *RESOURCE allocation - Abstract
This article expresses both Turkey's present and future renewable energy policy. Air pollution is becoming a great environmental concern in Turkey. Air pollution from energy utilization in the country is due to the combustion of coal, lignite, petroleum, natural gas, wood, and agricultural and animal wastes. In 1992, Turkish Ministry of Environment issued a regulation providing for emissions testing for cars, trucks, and vans. Achieving a solution to environmental problems requires long-term policies for sustainable development. In this aspect, renewable energy resources appear to be the one of the most efficient and effective solutions. Turkey has substantial reserves of renewable energy resources. However, actual utilization of these resources is quite low. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
