The Covid-19 pandemic, which has affected the entire world, has caused changes in many areas of life worldwide. These changes have also influenced and continue to influence consumer behaviors. During the restrictions, people staying at home and only going out for essential needs such as grocery shopping has caused changes in their shopping and consumption habits. The changing consumer behaviors related to the process have brought about many studies. Since the outbreak of Covid-19, it has caused significant changes in the attitudes and behaviors of individuals in the world and in Türkiye. Numerous studies have been conducted to understand these changes. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of the pandemic on the food demand and nutritional habits of individuals residing in Tekirdağ province. To achieve this, a survey was conducted with consumers living in Tekirdağ. According to the research's predicted 10% margin of error and 99% significance level, the sample size was calculated to be 166 people. Factor analysis was applied during the statistical analysis of the findings. Based on the results of the factor analysis, it was found that the desire of individuals to consume organic products and their awareness of healthy nutrition were high. The negative conditions that occurred during the pandemic increased the desire of individuals to eat. It has shown that consumers are more sensitive about healthy eating during the Covid-19 pandemic process. An increase in the consumption of food products that form the basis of a healthy diet, such as fruits, vegetables and eggs, and a corresponding decrease in the consumption of carbonated drinks and prepackaged food also support this finding. However, the high increase in the consumption of pastries and nuts can be given as examples of the negative effects of the need to stay at home and the restriction of physical activities due to the Covid-19 outbreak. In addition, their buying behavior changed, and the number of people who procure food products through online shopping increased. This research aims to investigate the effect of the COVID-19 epidemic, which entered the world agenda in 2019 and affected the whole world, on the corporate sustainability of businesses. The mediating effect of sustainable supply on this effect and the regulatory effect of environmental performance were investigated. The research was conducted among 235 businesses operating in Turkey. The data obtained using the survey method were analyzed in SPSS and AMOS analysis programs. As a result of the analyses obtained, it was determined that the COVID-19 epidemic significantly affected the corporate sustainability of the enterprises and that the environmental performance of the enterprises was a regulatory effect, together with the mediation of sustainable supply. It is understood day by day that COVID-19 negatively affects the economies of the countries. However, despite these negative effects; It is expected that the results of this research will contribute to the literature with a significant effect on the institutional sustainability of the COVID-19 epidemic. There has been a growing interest in online EFL teaching studies after the COVID-19 outbreak. However, the majority of the studies have centered around students’ perspectives. The studies examining the issue from EFL teachers’ perspectives, on the other hand, are relatively scarce. Therefore, this study qualitatively investigated EFL teachers’ perceptions and experience in this critical process to bridge the gap in the literature. For the study, the data were collected through written semi-structured interviews with 25 EFL teachers in Turkey. Five themes with several categories emerged based on the thematic analysis of the data with MAXQDA 2020 package program. The teachers commonly focused on the challenges of emergency online teaching and suggested potential solutions. The primary stemmed from the poor communication between teachers and students due to low engagement levels and technology-related issues. The teachers also struggled to find proper online EFL teaching materials since they had no or little experience in online education and did not know how find teaching resources. They suggested providing EFL teachers with workshop opportunities to learn how to tackle technology-related problems and improve their online material developing skills. This study may extend the relevant literature by providing a deeper insight into EFL teachers’ practices and recommendations for practitioners of online teaching. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has caused tremendous fear and uncertainty and affected health, economy, and social life in an unprecedented form worldwide. Yet, the level of knowledge on its economic implications is very limited. Therefore, it is of paramount importance to explain the health, social, and economic impacts of COVID-19. Because the tourism is one of the most affected industries by the pandemic, this study aims to explain the effects of COVID-19 cases and deaths, global fear, and government responses on Turkey's tourism industry. Empirical findings show that the tourism industry reacts negatively to new cases, number of deaths, and global fear measures. Also, government containment and health measures and economic supports positively affect the tourism industry. Furthermore, government stringency policies drive down the tourism industry's performance. This study deals with the AKP (Justice and Development Party) right-authoritarianism during the COVID-19 pandemic in Turkey, as seen from the perspective of necropolitics. It examines the relationships between politics and death, asking the question of how such relationships fell into an authoritarian character adversely influencing democracy and democratic values. For this, the study centres on the AKP government's response to the pandemic crisis, discussed as a manifestation of necropolitics. The paper explains the concept of necropolitics and underlines two of its fundamental characteristics: state of exception and creation of enemy. The paper focuses on these two traits to frame and critique the AKP's right-authoritarian politics during the COVID-19 outbreak. Purpose: This study aims to measure economic uncertainty in Turkey by a novel economic uncertainty index (EUI) employing principal component analysis (PCA). We assess the impact of Covid-19 pandemic in Turkey with our constructed uncertainty index. Design/methodology/approach: In order to obtain the EUI, this study employs a dimension reduction method of PCA using 14 macroeconomic indicators that spans from January 2011 to July 2020. The first principal component is picked as a proxy for the economic uncertainty in Turkey which explains 52% of total variation in entire sample. In the second part of our analysis, with our constructed EUI we conduct a structural vector autoregressions (SVAR) analysis simulating the Covid-19-induced uncertainty shock to the real economy. Findings: Our EUI sensitively detects important economic/political events in Turkey as well as Covid-19-induced uncertainty rising to extremely high levels during the outbreak. Our SVAR results imply a significant decline in economic activity and in the sub-indices as well. Namely, industrial production drops immediately by 8.2% and cumulative loss over 8 months will be 15% on average. The losses in the capital and intermediate goods are estimated to be 18 and 25% respectively. Forecast error variance decomposition results imply that uncertainty shocks preserve its explanatory power in the long run, and intermediate goods production is more vulnerable to uncertainty shocks than overall industrial production and capital goods production. Practical implications: The results indicate that monetary and fiscal policy should aim to decrease uncertainty during Covid-19. Moreover, since investment expenditures are affected severely during the outbreak, policymakers should impose investment subsidies. Originality/value: This is the first study constructing a novel EUI which sensitively captures the critical economic/political events in Turkey. The aim of this study is to determine academics' user resistance to distance learning, their perceptions of the distance learning systems and factors affecting their perceptions of the changes in the education system during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study's population consists of 440 academics working in 43 different universities in Turkey. The research sample were determined through convenience and snowball sampling methods. The data were collected using an online questionnaire form created within Google Forms. After validity and reliability analyses on the data, eight different hypotheses were tested using structural equation analysis. All eight hypotheses proposed within the study were accepted after receiving the results of this analysis. The results of the study show that user resistance has a significantly negative effect on the users that utilise distance learning. The COVID-19 outbreak has had a huge impact on people's lives, families and communities after it was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization. The success or failure of governments in the fight against the global COVID-19 epidemic is discussed from different perspectives. Considering the results obtained through these discussions, it is seen that the determining dynamics of the success of crisis management are strong state capacity and implemented government policies. The purpose of this study is to examine Turkey's struggle and implementation of government policies in the first period of deadly Covid-19 pandemic occurred in December of 2019 in China and spread on a global level in a short time March 11th-June 1) in the terms of crisis management perspective. As a result, it has been observed that three important factors stand out in Turkey's successful management of the crisis. The first is the immunity of the country against crises due to the state and government facing many crises in the last 10 years. Second, it would be given special importance to the health sector and the health sector is one of Turkey's leading countries in the world have facilitated the struggle of Turkey's crisis. Thirdly, the change in the political system with the transition to the Presidential Government system facilitated the effective and rapid decision-making of the state in this process. Covid-19, one of the rare global epidemics experienced by the modern world, has deeply affected not only the health sector but also all areas of social life, from politics to economy and from education to tourism. Since the outbreak of the epidemic, Covid-19 has been on the top of the agenda in the world media and it started to find wide coverage in the Turkish media with the spread of the virus in Turkey. Newspapers, the leading sources informing society about the nature and course of the epidemic, also have important social responsibilities in the presentation of Covid-19 news. It is a fact that the news presented by using fear-appeal, increases the readership. An alternative to this discourse, which has become problematic considering the negative factors it may cause on the psychology of society is the rationality of the discourse developed for the dangers of Covid-19. Hurriyet, Sabah, and Cumhuriyet newspapers were selected as samples within the scope of the study, it was investigated how the fear appeal was used in the presentation of Covid-19 news in the Turkish media. As a result of the research in which the Covid-19 news on the websites of the mentioned newspapers was subjected to discourse analysis, regarding sensitive periods such as disasters, the mutual importance of developing a sensible language for the media and society was emphasized. Aim: To determine the psychological resilience and perceived stress levels of healthcare workers in COVID‐19 intensive care units. Methods: The study was conducted with 418 physicians and nurses in Turkey between July and August 2020. The data were collected with an online survey consisting of a personal information form, the Brief Resilience Scale, and the Perceived Stress Scale. Results: The study sample comprised 32.5% physicians and 67.5% nurses. Fear of transmission of COVID‐19 from the patients in their care was stated by 92.6% of the physicians and 95.7% of the nurses. Almost all of the participants (99.3%) were afraid of transmitting COVID‐19 to their families. The psychological resilience level of the physicians (18.42 ± 2.25) participating in the study was higher than that of the nurses (17.88 ± 2.00), and the perceived stress level was lower. It was determined that most physicians and nurses strengthened their team/work friendship bonds during the pandemic, but the motivation to work decreased. Conclusion: The study results suggest that frontline intensive care workers should be closely monitored as a high‐risk group for psychological problems. The provision of better personal protective equipment, together with on‐going monitoring and provision of psychological support, and strong family support will increase the resilience of frontline healthcare workers. This study examined the plagiarism rates of student teachers (hereafter students) during the distance education process and investigated the reasons for plagiarising. Qualitative dominant sequential exploratory design was used. The sample consisted of students studying at two different universities in Turkey. The study group was determined in two stages as a quantitative sample and a qualitative participant group. To select the quantitative sample, the maximum diversity sampling was used, while the criterion sampling method was utilized for the qualitative participant group. The data were collected in two stages as quantitative and qualitative in accordance with the nature of the mixed-methods research. In the first stage, the assignments prepared by students were included in the plagiarism program and their similarity rates were determined. All assignments were coded according to the names of the students who prepared them. Then, the assignments with the highest and lowest rate of plagiarism were identified. In the next stage, qualitative data were collected through semi-structured interviews conducted with the students who prepared the aforementioned assignments. The interview questions were prepared to obtain in-depth information about why they plagiarized or did not plagiarize. Content analysis was applied to analyse the data, and meaningful findings were found. The findings were collected under five headings. According to the results, those with high plagiarism stated their reasons for plagiarism as their economic and social conditions were not suitable for research. The current study aims to identify the effects of the COVID-19 outbreak on the food and beverage industry in Turkey, to reveal what sort of precautions these firms have taken and to explore which applications they have adopted to overcome the effects in question. This study adopted a two-stage qualitative research design. In the first stage, online documents in Turkish were reviewed and in the second stage, online interview videos were analyzed. A total of 76 documents and 17 videos were examined using content analysis. According to the findings of the current study, the effects of COVID-19 on food and beverage firms were classified under 8 main categories and 30 sub-categories as follows: operational survival activities; challenges encountered; employee problems; cooperation, support, and incentives; precautions and practices; social responsibility; control; and customer behaviors. Then, a holistic model was proposed, consisting of the relevant main categories and containing a three-phase process (the onset of the outbreak, the active period, and the normalization process). This study is one of the first attempts to determine the effects of the pandemic on food and beverage firms through the eyes of the relevant stakeholders and address them as a whole. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to determine the mental state of nursing students when the impact of the COVID‐19 pandemic on the Turkish population reached its peak. Design and Methods: This cross‐sectional study was remotely conducted using General Health Questionnaire‐12 (GHQ‐12) and personnel information form, for 2630 nursing students, in Turkey. Data were statistically analyzed. Findings: The mean GHQ‐12 score was 3.04 ± 2.13, and 71.5% of nursing students scored ≥2 on the GHQ‐12, indicating risk for mental problems. We highlighted that nursing students who reported less sleep and diet during the COVID‐19 pandemic as well as those who thought they were suffering from COVID‐19 symptoms obtained significantly higher mean scores on the GHQ‐12. Practice Implications: Our results showed that most nursing students reported mental problems during the COVID‐19 pandemic. Pre‐training of the frontline staff during outbreaks is needed to prepare them to deal with a global pandemic. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The purpose of this article is to inquire about potential consumer behavior of individuals to participate in domestic tourism activities in Turkey when the COVID-19 outbreak is over. In other words, it is aimed to anticipate the effects of the pandemic on consumer behaviors of local Turkish tourists in the upcoming periods. A survey was conducted over 426 local tourists accommodating in Antalya and previously involved in domestic tourism activities. The research data were analyzed via Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The most important and fundamental finding concluded in the current study is that respondents will attach greater importance to the hygiene and safety of tourist attractions and public recreational areas after the COVID-19 outbreak. In addition, it is observed that people’s considerations about the dimensions of “general impact”, “attitude and preference”, “hygiene and safety” differ on the basis of demographical characteristics. A viral pneumonia rapidly spread from Wuhan, China to all countries in late 2019. In February 2020, WHO named as Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and declared the pandemic on March 11, 2020. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, Ministry of Health of Republic of Turkey and international institutions have published documents defining hygiene rules. After the lung computerized tomography (CT) findings which are important in the diagnosis of COVID-19 are described, protection measures against infection were defined in radiology departments. There is no publication involving protection measures for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in nuclear medicine (NM) (appointment, patient acceptance, imaging and treatment procedures, disinfection etc). There are two reports on CT findings suggesting COVID-19 in 18F--fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/CT scan. These lung findings detected in hybrid images will be helpful in the early diagnosis of pulmonary involvement. Infected cases may be asymptomatic and can unintentionally disseminate the virus to surrounding people. This advisory guide has been prepared to avoid infection risk in NM clinics. During the COVID-19 outbreak, staff must use proper personal protective equipment and patients should be evaluated as the elective case according to clinical status. A questionnaire should be made for COVID-19. In cancer cases requiring urgent treatment, radionuclide treatment (RNT) should be planned according to the COVID-19 test result. If the result is negative, RNT can be applied; but if not or if the symptoms are present, RNT must be postponed. Purpose: The study was carried out to determine the psychological impact levels of nurses and midwives due to the COVID-19 outbreak., Methods: The research is planned in a descriptive type. Nurses and midwives working in any health institution in Turkey constituted the population of the research. The questionnaire form of the study was shared on social media tools between 01 and 14 April 2020 and a total of 758 nurses and midwives were included in the study sample. Personal Information Form, State-Trait Anxiety Inventory and Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale were used as data collection tools., Results: Participants who attended the study were 56.9% of nurses and 43.1% of midwives. Approximately half of the nurses and midwives (48.8%) participating in our study contacted the patient with suspected COVID-19, and 29.8% provided care to the patient diagnosed with COVID-19. Nurses and midwives were scored 52.75 ± 9.80 for State Anxiety, 44.87 ± 7.92 for Trait Anxiety Inventory and 35.16 ± 9.42 for Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale. It has been determined that 54.5% of nurses and midwives have been making their lives worse since the outbreak started, 62.4% had difficulties in dealing with the uncertain situation in the outbreak, 42.6% wanted psychological support and 11.8% had alienated from their profession.
