Abstract

The article presents a study about the effect of enhanced supervision, a targeted falls prevention intervention on fall rates in older residents of a long-term aged care facility in Tokyo, Japan. According to the study, the total number of fallers and the total number of falls were significantly reduced when falls prevention aide was introduced. It concludes that the rate of the institutionalized older people who are at risk of falling could be reduced through enhanced supervision.
