The article focuses on the 1000-year record of magnesium (Mg) and lithium (Li) and Li and calcium (Ca) ratio of ostracod shells in Lake Qinghai in Tibetan Plateau in China. Topics discussed include humidity at the lake based on the values of biogenic and bulk carbonates, changes in the calcification of the ostracod shells which is very sensitive to environmental changes, and paleoclimate studies on the lake which are focused on monsoon and precipitation reconstruction.
