Employing a small baseline subset Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (SBAS-InSAR) and hotspot analysis, this study identified 81 potential landslides in a 768.7 km2 area of Xiaojin county, eastern Tibetan Plateau. Subsequent time-series deformation analysis revealed that these potential landslides are in the secondary creep stage. The newly identified landslides were compared to a landslide inventory (LI), established through field surveying, in terms of causative factors, including altitude, slope, relief amplitude, distance to river, distance to road, and slope curvature. From the comparison, the InSAR technique showed the following advantages: (1) it identified 25 potential landslides at high altitudes (>3415 m) in addition to the low-altitude landslides identified through the field survey. (2) It obtained approximately 37.5% and 70% increases in the number of potential landslides in the slope angle ranges of 20°–30° and 30°–40°, respectively. (3) It revealed significant increases in potential landslides in every relief amplitude bin, especially in the range from 58 m to 92 m. (4) It can highlight key geological factors controlling landslides, i.e., the stratigraphic occurrence and key joints as the InSAR technique is a powerful tool for identifying landslides in all dip directions. (5) It reveals the dominant failure modes, such as sliding along the soil–rock interface and/or interfaces formed by complicated combinations of discontinuities. The spring sensible heating (SSH) over the Tibetan Plateau (TP), which can significantly affect the precipitation in China, has experienced three different stages of change, showing significant increasing (1961–1979, Stage I), decreasing (1980–2002, Stage II), and increasing (2003–2014, Stage III) trends. In this study, the impact of these different trends in TP SSH on spring precipitation (SPR) in China and their possible mechanisms are investigated, based on observations and the reanalysis product. In Stage I, the SPR represents a contrasting north-south pattern associated with the increasing TP SSH, showing increasing trends over southern China and decreasing trends over central and northern China. Further, the spatial distribution of SPR trends shows a contrasting east-west pattern in Stage II. That is, persistent weakening TP SSH plays a more crucial role in increasing and decreasing SPR over southwestern and southern China, respectively. However, compared with the significant trend in SPR in Stage III, the regulation of TP SSH on SPR weakens significantly. Dynamically, the increasing TP SSH in Stage I can strengthen the subtropical westerly jet in the upper layer, simultaneously configured with an anomalous cyclone in northeastern China, which deepens the East Asian trough. Thus, anomalous convergence in the upper layer occurs over central and northern China, favoring the downdraft. It then causes more cold and dry air to move southward in the lower troposphere, which then encounters the warm and wet southwest airflows, boosting the updraft over southern China. In Stage II, regression analysis shows that if the TP SSH increases, an anomalous cyclone in the middle and upper troposphere occurs over the western TP, causing the downdraft and less precipitation over southwestern China, while a cyclone in the lower troposphere occurs over the western North Pacific and extends to southern China, promoting the ascending motions and more precipitation in southern China. However, in this stage, TP SSH actually weakens, thus contributing to more precipitation over southwestern China and less precipitation over southern China. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Resource-transfer connections among bacteria, fungi, and microbivorous nematodes play an integral role in the decomposition pathways of soil micro-foodweb. Exploring the response of soil bacteria, fungi, and nematodes to grassland degradation is crucial for predicting the direction and trajectory of degradation. However, the knowledge about soil bacteria-fungi-nematode interactions in ecosystem function and nutrient cycling must be highlighted properly, especially in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Therefore, this study focuses on four alpine meadows at different degenerate gradients (non-degraded grassland, slightly degraded grassland, moderately degraded grassland, and severely degraded grassland) on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The investigation of soil bacteria-fungi-nematode interactions uses high-throughput sequencing and correlation network analysis. The results demonstrate significant variations in the composition of soil nematode genera, and bacterial and fungal phyla, across different degradation stages. Moreover, the diversity of nematodes, bacteria and fungi declined as grassland degradation worsened. Principal component analysis (PCA) revealed that alpine meadows with varying degradation gradients significantly influenced the community structure of bacteria, fungi, and nematodes. Mantel analysis indicated that soil water content (P < 0.05), total phosphorus (P < 0.05), and total nitrogen (P < 0.05) were the primary soil properties affecting the soil bacterial community. Similarly, available soil potassium (P < 0.05), microbial biomass carbon (P < 0.05), and microbial biomass nitrogen (P < 0.05) were the main soil factors influencing the soil fungal community. In contrast, the correlation between individual soil characteristics and soil nematodes did not reach a significant level, suggesting that a blend of physical and chemical properties regulates the soil nematode community. As grassland degradation intensified, the number of links in the interaction network of bacteria, fungi, and nematodes increased. Particularly, the networks between fungi and nematodes expanded, and the key species within each network varied with the different stages of grassland degradation. Concurrently, soil micro-foodweb decomposition pathways shifted. In the ND treatment, bacteria and fungi jointly dominated the degradation channels of the soil micro-food web, while the LD and MD treatments mainly dominated the degradation channels of fungi. On the other hand, SD treatment was dominated by bacterial degradation channels. This research adds to our theoretical understanding of meadow soil micro-foodwebs and the sustainable use of alpine grasslands in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
