Abstract

The article discusses the sixth annual awarding of the 10,000 € Thuringia Library Prize to the State Library of Weimar at the October 2008 Library Conference in Mühlhausen, Germany. The State Library's project "Capturing Knowledge" involved the joint work of new libraries in engaging tenth graders of Weimar gymnasiums (high schools). Two runner-up awards are also described.

Abstract

The article announces the sixth annual Thuringian Library Prize which awards 10,000 DM for the best overall performance of a public library. The chairman of the Thuringian Library Association in Hesse, Germany is Dr. Frank Simon-Ritz, who spoke of the libraries' role as a partner in education and life-long learning.
