Abstract

The article discusses a study which determines adequate drink to be consumed by athletes in a hot climate during ultra endurance cycling to compensate fluid loss due to sweating and urination. The study was conducted on 26 male cyclists and measurements were taken at the start, 52 km, 97 km, 136 km and at the finish point. The study found no universal drinking plan and that each athlete has to develop a plan based on specific needs as per body mass, exercise time and field requirements.
