Abstract

Laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding (LAGB) is considered to be a safe and effective method of weight loss and reduction of comorbidities associated with obesity. Despite its improved early safety profile compared with Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, patients with LAGB can manifest unique complications that must be recognized and managed appropriately to achieve good outcomes.
