The article focuses on the political conditions in Tennessee during 1952. Tennessee voters, still burning from accusations that Tennessee did not act like a Southern state in the Democratic National Convention, came out in record numbers on August 7, 1952 to tell the nation it was all a horrible mistake. The average Tennesseean was unhappy about the part the state had played at the convention. After the convention there was a deafening outcry. Tennessee is making progress in eliminating racial prejudice, partly no doubt as the result of the many federal-government offices in the state.
