The article discusses a study which examines high species diversity and temporal changes in nudibranch composition at a coastal site off Penghu in the Taiwan Strait. Nudibranchs refer to shell-less gastropods which feature diverse color patterns, high diet specificity and mechanical and chemical defensive attributes. The two most-speciose families were the Chromodorodidae and Phyllidiidae. Results showed that the mean number of species sighted per monthly survey was 12 and the increase in new species recorded reached a plateau at the 18th survey. In addition, no species at the site were considered dominant in terms of the abundance of individuals.
