The article discusses the results of a study which examined the ultrastructure of spermatozoa of Prionospio japonica from Taiwan. Adults of P. japonica underwent several chemical analyses like dehydration in a graded ethanol series and acetone and the use of Leica UC6 ultramicrotone. Analyses showed that the coelomic cavity of mature males in fertile segments was filled with spermatozoa wherein the acrosome was an electron-dense biradially symmetrical structure. It also showed that the sperm of P. japonica bears similarities to that of P. cf. queenslandica and P. fallax.
