A report from investigators at Tabriz University of Medical Sciences in Iran discusses new research findings on biosensors. The researchers developed a novel portable immuno-device for the recognition of the lymphatic vessel endothelial hyaluronan receptor-1 (LYVE-1) biomarker using conductive ink. LYVE-1 is involved in the passage of lymphocytes and tumor cells into the lymphatics, and its monitoring in human biofluids can provide valuable insights into tumor lymphangiogenesis. The paper-based biosensor developed by the researchers showed high stability, sensitivity, and selectivity, making it suitable for biomarker-related disease screening in clinical studies.
