Background/Methods: At a consensus meeting in August 2018, pediatricians and dermatologists from German‐speaking countries discussed the therapeutic strategy for the treatment of pediatric patients with type I and II hereditary angioedema due to C1 inhibitor deficiency (HAE‐C1‐INH) for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, taking into account the current marketing approval status. HAE‐C1‐INH is a rare disease that usually presents during childhood or adolescence with intermittent episodes of potentially life‐threatening angioedema. Diagnosis as early as possible and an optimal management of the disease are important to avoid ineffective therapies and to properly treat swelling attacks. This article provides recommendations for developing appropriate treatment strategies in the management of HAE‐C1‐INH in pediatric patients in German‐speaking countries. An overview of available drugs in this age‐group is provided, together with their approval status, and study results obtained in adults and pediatric patients. Results/Conclusion: Currently, plasma‐derived C1 inhibitor concentrates have the broadest approval status and are considered the best available option for on‐demand treatment of HAE‐C1‐INH attacks and for short‐ and long‐term prophylaxis across all pediatric age‐groups in German‐speaking countries. For on‐demand treatment of children aged 2 years and older, recombinant C1‐INH and bradykinin‐receptor antagonist icatibant are alternatives. For long‐term prophylaxis in adolescents, the parenteral kallikrein inhibitor lanadelumab has recently been approved and can be recommended due to proven efficacy and safety. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Hereditary angioedema due to C1 inhibitor (C1 esterase inhibitor) deficiency (types I and II HAE-C1-INH) is a rare disease that usually presents during childhood or adolescence with intermittent episodes of potentially life-threatening angioedema. Diagnosis as early as possible is important to avoid ineffective therapies and to properly treat swelling attacks. At a consensus meeting in June 2011, pediatricians and dermatologists from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland reviewed the currently available literature, including published international consensus recommendations for HAE therapy across all age groups. Published recommendations cannot be unconditionally adopted for pediatric patients in German-speaking countries given the current approval status of HAE drugs. This article provides an overview and discusses drugs available for HAE therapy, their approval status, and study results obtained in adult and pediatric patients. Recommendations for developing appropriate treatment strategies in the management of HAE in pediatric patients in German-speaking countries are provided. Abstract: We study the effect of squark generation mixing on squark production and decays at LHC in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). We show that the effect can be very large despite the very strong constraints on quark-flavour violation (QFV) from experimental data on B mesons. We find that the two lightest up-type squarks can have large branching ratios for the decays into and at the same time due to squark generation mixing, leading to QFV signals ‘’ with a significant rate. The observation of this remarkable signature would provide a powerful test of supersymmetric QFV at LHC. This could have a significant impact on the search for squarks and the determination of the underlying MSSM parameters. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

In the MSSM with complex parameters, loop corrections to the decay of a stop into a bottom quark and a chargino can lead to a CP violating decay rate asymmetry. We calculate this asymmetry at full one-loop level and perform a detailed numerical study, analyzing the dependence on the parameters and complex phases involved. If the stop can decay into a gluino, the self-energy and the vertex correction dominate due to the strong coupling. It is shown that the vertex contribution is always suppressed. We therefore give a simple approximate formula for the asymmetry. We account for the constraints on the parameters coming from several experimental limits. Asymmetries up to 25 percent are obtained. We also comment on the feasibility of measuring this asymmetry at the LHC. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Loop calculations in the MSSM have become a vast field. Some related works done in the theory SUSY group at the HEPHY Vienna are presented. The basics of regularisation and renormalization in the MSSM are discussed. We further study CP violating rate asymmetries induced by loops.
