This proposal is based on the belief that male and female leaders can implement rhetorical strategies arising from the feminization of politics. In particular, it would be interesting to analyse the existence of features pertaining to feminized pattern which are present in the inaugural address pronounced by presidents of the Government of Spain in the last 40 years (16 speeches from 1979 to 2022). This research studies the presence of the equality rhetoric, women's issues, ethics of care and characteristics of the pragmaticempathic communicative pattern in speeches of seven presidents of the Government: Adolfo Suárez, Leopoldo Calvo Sotelo, Felipe González, José María Aznar, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, Mariano Rajoy and Pedro Sánchez. Analysing political discourses made allows check their evolution in relation to the increased incorporation of women to governments and parliaments around the world, as well as growing demands as citizens and voters. Lastly, it will be noted that at lower age of the speech, it's more evidence that men and women are able to practice the feminization of rhetoric in the governmentality setting. The aim of this article is to interpret the meanings given to the concept of diversity at university according to the discourse of its leaders, those with the capacity to influence the debate and definition of diversity policies in the institution. To this end, a qualitative case study was conducted at a public university in Spain, interviewing 31 leaders from various collectives (faculty, students, and administrative staff ) and collegiate bodies. The results describe two different meanings --as individuality and as collectivity-- with two different perspectives woven through: enrichment or problem. Interviewees point to foreign students, with disabilities, women, or with limited socio-economic resources, though they do not refer to faculty members or staff. These results allow us to distinguish between three types of rhetoric in relation this concept --naturalization, difference, and inequality-- which could potentially be examined further in new studies on the orientation and development of diversity in different contexts. The article analyzes the structure of the development sequence of the initial speech issued by the Spanish Prime Minister and by the leaders of the opponent parties at the State of the Nation Debate, which takes place at the Spanish Parliament every year. The development sequence stands for most of the speakers' interventions, and presents two different structures, linear or parallel, depending on the speaker's approach. According to the general structure, the mechanisms chosen by the speaker are different, and such difference is particularly evident when the President and the leaders of the opponent parties are compared. This paper analyses the arguments put forward by Mariano Rajoy, the leader of the Partido Popular (currently Spain's major opposition party and the principal representative of the country's right wing), in response to questions about the atmosphere of tension posed by a group of citizens during Tengo una pregunta para usted (2007), a television programme in which 100 representatives from a cross section of society quiz leading politicians on a wide range of issues. The theoretical-methodological approach is based on concepts taken from discourse analysis and a cognitive perspective, as well as from rhetoric, argumentation theory and pragmadialectics. This interdisciplinary approach enables us to better address the complexity of the various levels of discursive significance and their interrelation with ideological meaning in discourse whose persuasive intentionality targets agreement between the speaker and recipients. The analysis and interpretation of the data reveals Rajoy's general lack of attention to the citizen's point of view and his tendency to break the frameworks they activate, repeatedly replacing them with his own. This indicates his interest in presenting his political programme before the television audience, rather than offering each citizen a coherent (and well-structured within a critical argument) response. In establishing his ideological position, he frequently resorts to the use of supposedly objective data (extrinsic proof), as well as the use of argumentative places, and especially the overuse of the place of essence (which for Rajoy has an overriding argumentative value). From a pragmatic perspective, he breaks the expectations generated by the speech acts used by the citizens in their questions, thereby failing to answer what he has been asked. In addition, he fails to comply with several rules by misinterpreting the citizen's intention and digressing inappropriately.
