Children under the age of 14 years (U14) are particularly susceptible to musculoskeletal disorders because of growth spurts. Plyometric training has been shown to be beneficial for both injury reduction and performance enhancement. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of plyometric training on the jumping ability and running biomechanics of U14 track-and-field athletes. A single-blind randomized controlled trial was conducted. Thirty-five (18 female and 17 male) U14 athletes (age: 12.561.2 years; height: 152.367.7 cm; body mass: 47.366.9 kg) were randomized into experimental and control groups. All subjects completed their usual training for 4 weeks, and those in the intervention group added a low-volume plyometric program twice a week. Preintervention and postintervention assessments included a countermovement jump (CMJ) to determine maximum jump height, 10-second repeated jumps to assess reactive strength index (RSI), and a 3-minute run at 12 km·h21 to analyze running kinematics contact time, flight time, step length (SL), step frequency (SF), mean power output, vertical spring stiffness, and leg spring stiffness (LSS). The results revealed no main effect of time for any of the variables. A group-by-time interaction was found for RSI (p 5 0.045) in the intervention group, whereas a significant increase in LSS was also found after the intervention (p50.031). However, no changes in CMJ height or other running parameters were observed. The significance level for the study was set at r # 0.05. Plyometric-jump training may improve the stretch-shortening cycle in U14 athletes by increasing RSI and LSS. Athletes and coaches in running-related sports should be aware of these short-term effects when aiming to optimize the energy storage and release mechanism. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

DETERIORATION of materials ,STONE ,SURFACE resistance ,ROMANS ,NONDESTRUCTIVE testing - Abstract
The main aim of this research is to characterise fresh stone and to highlight how its physical properties change as a result of natural ageing. For this purpose, naturally weathered and freshly cut samples, proceeding from the monument, were analysed. The results obtained allow us to better understand the behaviour of the material in relation to deterioration processes in view of a possible restoration or maintenance intervention. As a result of the characterisation study, two local sedimentary stones were employed for the construction of the Roman Theatre. The mineralogical observations and the petrographic study showed that the two lithotypes come from different quarry extraction sites. Finally, from the comparison between freshly cut and naturally aged samples it has been proven that as the material is altered, the predisposition to water absorption increases, due to the change in the porosity and consequently the mechanical resistance on the surface and in depth decreases. This article analyzes two crucial aspects of services marketing, service recovery and customer loyalty, and their influence on perceived service quality. SERVQUAL was used as the instrument for measuring service quality, and hotel customers in Spain made up the sample. The application of factor analysis highlights a clear distinction between tangible and non-tangible dimensions of service quality for both hotel receptions and hotel restaurants. The results indicate that for non-tangible dimensions of service quality, the quality of service perceived by customers will increase if the customer is loyal, and/or if the customer experiences a service recovery during the visit. However, for tangible dimensions, these two factors have no influence on perceived service quality. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Palaeoseismological studies play a crucial role in the seismic characterization of regions with slow moving faults. This is the case of the Central Betic Cordillera, a highly populated area where the record of prehistoric earthquakes is very scarce, despite of being one of the regions with the highest seismic hazard in Spain. We present here a palaeoseismological characterization of the Galera Fault, one of the active faults accommodating deformation in the Central Betic Cordillera. We excavated and analysed several trenches along the fault trace. We quantitatively correlate the results from these trenches, resulting in a surface rupture history involving 7 or 8 events (accounting for the epistemic uncertainties) during the last ca. 24000 yr, with a recurrence interval ranging between 1520 and 1720 yr. Further analysis of this surface rupture history seems to indicate that the Galera Fault is prone to produce earthquakes clusters, as we recorded five events in ca. 400 yr (ca. 1536–1126 BC), and only two events in the next ca. 3200 yr. Using the fault geometry and palaeoseismological data, we also carried out a seismogenic characterization of the fault. This analysis yielded a maximum expected magnitude of 6.7 ± 0.3 and a recurrence interval of 1857 yr. Furthermore, we also present a geodetic rupture scenario for the maximum expected event, involving displacements of up to 0.5 m. Finally, we discuss the possible impact of the deduced palaeoearthquakes in the development of Bronze Age human settlements located in the vicinity of the fault. Other than their intrinsic value, our results will be the basis for future seismic hazard assessment carried out in the Central Betic Cordillera. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study analyses the role of the main Spanish political groups in the polarisation of public opinion and the promotion of the culture of disinformation through Twitter (now Platform X). The study carries out an analysis of issues associated with tweets and retweets in Spanish of the total published (n = 33,506 messages out of a total of 49,288 messages), which are contrasted with 2,730 disinformation publications identified by the two most relevant fact-checking projects in Spain (Maldita.es and Newtral.es). Based on the applied methodology, a political-communicative context is observed on Platform X characterised by a high level of self-promotion and polarisation, facilitated by the communication strategy of specific topics, applied by the actors analysed. The results show how these political actors can play an active and differentiated role in the promotion of disinformation content identified by the Maldita.es and Newtral.es data verification projects. This may contribute to the polarisation of Spanish public opinion on Platform X by delegitimising the opinions of their opponents on issues of interest to the public. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

According to recent studies, most of the Spanish population identifies disinformation as a social problem and believes that it could endanger democracy and the stability of the country. In this context, many institutions point out the need for media literacy campaigns and initiatives that alleviate the possible harmful social effects of the phenomenon, especially among vulnerable audiences. While children and young people are the continuous target of this type of action, few so far have targeted the elderly. This article analyzes the effectiveness of a training action to increase the ability to detect false news in this age group. A 10-day course was designed, and a sample of 1,029 individuals over 50 years of age residing in Spain who are smartphone users was selected. Participants were divided into an experimental group (n=498), who were invited to take the course, and a control group (n=531). An ex ante and ex post study was carried out to determine the effects of the course on their ability to detect false news. The results reveal that those who took the course were more successful in identifying the news as true or false than the members of the control group. The results confirm the opportunity and convenience of designing media literacy actions aimed at those over 50 years of age, a social group particularly exposed to disinformation. New challenges facing society and universities, such as the effects of climate change or the increasing levels of interconnectedness and digitisation, are changing the way we understand common spaces and teaching methods. New paradigms such as smart campuses are becoming increasingly popular in response to these new needs. This work has sought to shed light on some of the research gaps that still exist in this area of study, focusing on how the university community perceives this new model of university. Based on the information gathered from a sample of 405 members of the university community of the Alcoy Campus of the Universitat Politècnica de València in Spain, the results obtained in this research reveal a significant interest in the smart campus paradigm, albeit uneven among the different groups of university members. In addition, respondents showed a greater preference for strategies linked to the smart axes of Welfare, Environment and Education, Innovation and Research than for those based on purely technological aspects. All these findings may have relevant implications for educational research as well as for university policies and strategies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Climate change represents an important cause of subsidence, especially in coastal cities affected by changes in surface water level and water table. This paper presents a complementary study of Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) for the early detection of subsidence and sinkhole phenomena. The methodology was applied to a coastal urban area in Galicia, northwest Spain (humid region), showing apparent signs of subsidence and building settlement during the last two years. Two different InSAR methods are compared for the period from June 2021 to March 2022: PSI (Persistent Scatterer Interferometry) and SBAS (Small Baseline Subsets), and the average deformation velocities obtained resulted in −3.0 mm/yr and −4.1 mm/yr, respectively. Additional GPR data were collected in January 2022 to validate the InSAR results, which detected subsidence in agreement with the persistent scatters obtained from the PSI method. This is crucial information to plan preventive maintenance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Society associates palliative care with "death" or "end of life", which cause them fear and anxiety. In Spain, the media worsens the misunderstanding by depicting a wrong picture of palliative care. Educational innovation for university students may serve as an alternative communication strategy. Care and Society is a university course designed by and for students from non-health degrees to help disseminate the palliative care message. The first year of the Teach-Inn Pal project aims to evaluate the effects of the course and to identify areas of improvement. Objective: To present an evaluation to determine if the course can work as a campaign to refocus the public opinion on palliative care and share the preliminary results of the pilot study. Methodology: A prospective Participatory Action Research study. University students enrolled in the course (n = 29) are invited to test and redesign the palliative care message. Knowledge and empathy will be measured throughout the learning process. Afterwards, qualitative, thematic, inductive analysis of the course material will be carried out. This study is registered on the ISRCTN Registry under the name "Can a university course help communicate palliative care?" (Registration number: ISRCTN10236642). Discussion: This study is part of a doctoral thesis. Education is used as a creative outlet, allowing rapid testing of multiple tools to create ambassadors of palliative care that may reframe the public opinion. Conclusion: The understanding of students about palliative care changed, the overall impression of the experience was positive, and students were also able to explain palliative care to people with little or no experience in the topic. However, to determine if they became ambassadors the results of the mid-term assessment are required. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Situations of sexual and sexist harassment are the result of daily and widespread practices that also occur in universities. This study aims to investigate experienced and perceived situations of sexual and sexist violence in universities in southern Spain. The methodology consists of a review of the literature and the production of primary data using the quantitative method and the questionnaire technique. The sample consisted of 1,583 members of the university community of one of the ten universities in southern Spain, with a total population of 23,500 people. The results, in terms of harassment experienced (real or technical), reveal that the main victims of sexual and sexist harassment in the universities of southern Spain are women and people with different sexual identities (more than 83% of cases), between 19 and 50 years, and belonging to the student, teaching and research staff, and administration and services staff, without a permanent position. Female students are the most vulnerable, while men, in any of the categories, are victims in less than 17% of cases. Likewise, in 86% of the cases the harasser is a male, while women are harassers in 10.5% of the cases and people with diverse sexual identity are harassers in 3.5% of the situations. With regard to perceived (declared) harassment, the study concludes that the sex of the people surveyed, their level of studies, the university campus to which they belong and gender stereotypes are determining factors in the degree of perception of harassment situations. On the other hand, age, status, and employment status do not play a significant role in the respondents' perceptions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We introduce a brief instrument specifically validated for measuring positive and negative feelings about risks—the Berlin Emotional Responses to Risk Instrument (BERRI). Based on seven studies involving diverse adults from three countries (n = 2120), the BERRI was found to robustly estimate anticipatory affective reactions derived from subjective evaluations of positive (i.e., assured, hopeful, and relieved) and negative emotions (i.e., anxious, afraid, and worried). The brief BERRI outperformed a 14‐item assessment, uniquely tracking costs/benefits associated with cancer screening among men and women (Studies 1 and 2). Predictive validity was further documented in paradigmatic risky choice studies wherein options varied over probabilities and severities across six contexts (health, social, financial, technological, ethical, and environmental; Study 3). Studies 4–6, conducted during the Ebola epidemic and COVID‐19 pandemic, indicated BERRI responses were sensitive to subtle effects caused by emotion‐related framing manipulations presented in different cultures and languages (the United States, Spain, and Poland). Study 7 indicated BERRI responses remained stable for 2 weeks. Although the BERRI can provide an estimate of overall affect, choices were generally better explained by the unique influences of positive and negative affect. Overall, results suggest the novel, brief instrument can be an efficient tool for high‐stakes research on decision making and risk communication. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The funding model crisis for newspapers is a matter of public concern; and it is not only a business issue, but also a social and political one, as news organisations are considered to have an irreplaceable function in democratic systems. Technological and social changes have transformed the business model of news organisations so that, in a digital scenario with a strong competition for consumers’ attention, they have had to diversify their portfolio of income streams. In such a context, this study analyses the state of the diversification of revenue streams in the Spanish digital media market, using the available data from the total universe of digital media in the country. The article focusses on the two most common revenue streams related to user payment -subscriptions and memberships- and analyses the importance of four variables in this diversification of revenue strategies: their nature (digital native versus traditional), thematic scope (general versus specialised), territorial scope (local versus national), and the type of organisation that promotes it (traditional, new, or independent groups). The data obtained suggest that there are no universal formulae in the implementation of payment models for Spanish digital media. Specifically, there are significant differences in the revenue models between native and non-native digital media. Thus, payment strategies are more prevalent among non-native digital media than among native media. Furthermore, the non-native media that have opted for paid models tend to diversify their sources of income more than the non-native ones based on free model. Additionally, data show that paywalls and memberships are more usual among specialised non-native digital media and generalist native outlets. Also, payments are more often required by local and regional media than national outlets. From the ownership point of view, although the main Spanish media corporations are developing their revenue models, the pay-per-content model is also quite extended among organisations, associations, and foundations not linked with the traditional publishing groups. This study, due to its exhaustiveness, dimensions, and novelty, identifies in detail the current state of the implementation of the pay model for digital media in Spain, which can help and facilitate media managers in their decision-making. Transparency in the media has become a fundamental pillar within all democratic societies, as a mechanism for reinforcing government regulation (Anderson, 2009) and citizen trust in institutions (Vos and Craft, 2016). Journalism, which has traditionally acted as a watchdog and a check on power, is now in the midst of a credibility crisis, compounded by polarization and the rise of disinformation. For this reason, various studies advocate that media outlets, just like institutions and governments, should use transparency mechanisms that allow them to respond directly or indirectly to society regarding the content they publish, as an exercise of responsibility. This research aims to evaluate media transparency in the Spanish-Portuguese landscape by means of an index that includes variables studied in the theoretical framework and that come from legislative, academic, and professional sources. These variables have been used to measure corporate and financial transparency, transparency in content production, openness to public participation, and the self-regulation mechanisms of ten media outlets in Spain and Portugal. This study concluded that, with only 43% adherence to the transparency variables analyzed, promoting accountability is still a work in progress for media outlets, and it must be stepped up at both the academic and professional levels. INTRODUCTION: Patients seeking first time treatment for opioid consumption reflect the characteristics of the consumer population. This group has not been studied in Spain in decades. The objective of this study was to characterize the opioid user population seeking first time treatment (incidents) and compare them group with those with prior treatment (prevalents). METHODS: Cross-sectional study (N = 3325) with patients with opioid addiction seeking care at public addiction centers in the Community of Madrid from 2017 through 2019. Differentiation and comparisons were carried out using bivariate analysis, adjusted by sociodemographic characteristics related and those related to substance use consumption in incident and prevalent patients. RESULTS: About 12.2% were incidents. Compared to prevalents, there were more foreigners (34.1% vs 19.1% P< .001), but with a better social network. Regarding opioid use, incidents were less likely to use injection (10.7% compared to 16.8% P = .008), but had greater daily frequency (75.8% vs 52.2%, P< .001). The age of initial consumption was greater (27 years vs 21.3 years, (P < .001)). About 15.5% of incidents sought care for non-heroin opioids, compared to 4.8% of prevalents (P < .001). Women sought care at twice the rate of men (29.3% vs 12.3%; P> .001). DISCUSSION: New patients presented a profile with many stable characteristics, but which highlighted an increase in the use of other opioids, as occurs in the international context. Surveillance of the new patient characteristics can serve as an early indicator of consumption changes in. Thus, periodic monitoring is important. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Global climate change makes the maintenance and resilience of cities one of the greatest challenges facing civilization. Constant monitoring is essential work to determine if the city and its infrastructure are well preserved. This monitoring has become increasingly simple and affordable, thanks to the advancement of technology, so the current trend is to systematically monitor the entire city (this concept is the paradigm of the smart city). There are several methods for infrastructure monitoring including GPS, mobile-mapping, video-surveillance, etc. However, this type of method has a series of disadvantages, such as the impossibility of obtaining large-scale data or the unavailability of information of the previous, current or after state that an event has occurred in the study-area. This can be solved with monitoring based on satellite images, since these have historical and constant coverage over time, with good resolution to identify urban structures and cover large study areas. The use of satellite radar images through MT-InSAR is booming because it is a powerful remote sensing technique capable of detecting displacements on the earth's surface. This technique can be combined with Machine-Learning to perform predictive analysis in urban environments and detect infrastructure failures. This predictive monitoring capable of anticipating risks is one of the objectives of the new urbanism. For this reason, this work analyzes the collapse of a pier, which occurred in Vigo, a city in NW Spain, through radar satellite images (Sentinel-1), MT-InSAR and Machine-Learning. The result is the possibility of anticipating structural failures thanks to the predictive monitoring. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

According to the sociology of public problems, the construction, visibility, and stabilization of a public problem require the mobilization of collectives of citizens interested in the issue, which act as an active entity in demanding actions and policies. One such issue is the depopulation of rural areas in Spain, which has shifted from a geographically localized problem to a matter of state policy. This article investigates the influence of framing in this process, analyzing a corpus of 5,980 headlines from newspapers in the Aragon, Castile-La Mancha, and Castile and Leon regions of Spain as well as from two national media outlets, corresponding to the period 2012-2021. Through the application of statistical analyses of lexical frequency in stages, the most significant terms in the evolution of the media's coverage of the issue have been identified, which has made it possible to observe the appearance and displacement of concepts and their relationship to the most important milestones of social and political mobilization. In addition, its power to stir up sentiment in socio-political discourse has been explored. The consolidation of depopulation as a stable element in the Spanish media agenda, going beyond the regional sphere and having a presence dissociated from specific events through time, in contrast to what occurred some years ago, stands out. Finding a media-friendly frame -empty Spain [España vacía] and emptied Spain [España vaciada]-may have been a key element in this. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS) and satellites are used for monitoring and assessing the quality of surface waters. Combining both sensors in a joint tool may scale local water quality retrieval models to regional and global scales by translating UAS-based models to satellite imagery. The main objective of this study is to examine whether Sentinel-2 (S2) data can complement UAS data, specifically from the MicaSense RedEdge MX-Dual sensor, for inland water quality monitoring in mining environments affected by acid mine drainage (AMD). For this purpose, a comparison between UAS reflectance maps and atmospherically corrected S2 imagery was performed. S2 data were processed with Case 2 Regional Coast Colour (C2RCC) and Case 2 Regional Coast Colour for Complex waters (C2X) atmospheric correction (AC) processors. The correlation between the UAS data and the atmospherically corrected S2 data was evaluated on a band-by-band and a pixel-by-pixel basis, and the compatibility of the spectral data was analyzed through statistical methods. The results showed C2RCC and C2X performed better for acidic greenish-blue and non-acidic greenish-brown water bodies concerning the UAS data than for acidic dark reddish-brown waters. However, significant differences in reflectance between the UAS sensor and both S2 AC processors have been detected. The poor agreement between sensors should be considered when combining data from both instruments since these could have further consequences in developing multi-scale models. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are a group of disorders of the heart and blood vessels. In addition to environmental risk factors, genetic predisposition increases the risk; this includes alterations in the vitamin D receptor gene (VDR). These alterations play a key role in modifying vitamin D uptake, being able to modify its function and increasing susceptibility to cardiovascular disorders. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association of polymorphisms in the VDR gene and risk of CVD in a Caucasian population. A retrospective case-control study was conducted comprising 246 CVD patients and 246 controls of Caucasian origin from Southern Spain. The genetic polymorphisms BsmI (rs1544410), TaqI (rs731236), ApaI (rs7975232), FokI (rs2228570) and Cdx2 (rs11568820) were determined by means of real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for allelic discrimination using TaqMan
® probes. The logistic regression analysis adjusted for body mass index and diabetes revealed that the TT genotype was associated with a higher risk of CVD in both the genotypic model (p = 0.0430; OR = 2.30; 95% CI = 1.06–5.37; TT vs. CC) and the recessive model (p = 0.0099; OR = 2.71; 95% CI = 1.31–6.07; TT vs. C). Haplotype analysis revealed that the haplotype GAC (p = 0.047; OR = 0.34; 95% CI = 0.12–0.98) was associated with increased risk of CVD. The VDR polymorphisms FokI (rs2228570) was significantly associated with the development of CVD. No influence was observed of the VDR polymorphisms BsmI (rs1544410), TaqI (rs731236), ApaI (rs7975232) and Cdx2 (rs11568820) on the risk of developing CVD in the patients studied. Background: Faced with increased public spending for care, knowledge of the determinants of the choices between informal and formal care is of particular importance for estimating the need for care in the future. Methods: Using a representative sample of Spanish dependent elderly from the Disabilities, Independence and Dependency Situations Survey (DIDSS) 2008, we compare the factors associated with the reception of informal, formal and mixed care. The study included 10 703 dependent persons living at home aged ≥65 years. Results: Overall, the percentage of those receiving only informal care was high in Spain, 47.5%. Formal care was most often received in combination with informal care (9.8%) than alone (4.9%). Five out of the seven factors analysed were found to influence the reception of all types of care: age, gender, income, self-rated health and suffering a chronic condition. Conclusions: There is a high coincidence among how factors affect the reception of care although some differences can be noted. Curiously, a high income level and the availability of informal care (as measured by living with a partner) can negatively affect the reception of only formal care. Living in a capital can also have an impact on the type of care a dependent elderly person receives. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

It is a plaesaure to announce the celebration of the XXXI Congress of the Spanish Nutrition Society that will be held in Cartagena (Murcia, Spain), from September 15th to 17th, 2022. As is already a tradition in our society, the day before, on September 14th, the IX Meeting of young researchers will take place, aimed at promoting interaction and knowledge exchange among young people working in the field of nutrition and food in Spain. In addition, young reserachers will receive a workshop about how to produce videos of research with high impact in the social media. The congress will offer a scientific and multidisciplinary journey through all aspects related to a personalized diet from children to adults, healthy, safe and sustainable. The connections between lifestyles and chronic non-communicable diseases and especially obesity, will be updated, as well as precision nutrition, incorporating the outstanding advances in nutrigenomics, epigenetics and metabolomic markers. New evidence of healthy effects of bioactive, prebiotic and probiotic components is also contemplated, without forgetting the issue of food allergies and intolerances, which are increasingly prevalent in our society. The circular economy and the new preferences for sustainable and local food pose challenges that will also be addressed at the congress and in the sessions for young researchers. In addition, the problem generated by the dissemination of nutritional information poorly contrasted in the media and social networks will be considered. We encourage you to schedule these dates in your 2022 agenda to attend and participate in our congress, whose program we have designed with great enthusiasm. We would also like to extend the invitation to participate to companies and institutions related to food, which will help us reflect that optimal food is only achieved with the involvement of EVERYONE. We hope that the proposal of this congress will be attractive to you and that we can share enriching experiences in Cartagena, Spain. The program of the congress is available in the URL https://www.xxxicongresosen2022.com/index.asp Yours sincerely, Elvira Larqué Daza, Organizer of the Spanish Nutrition Society (SEÑ) Congress 2022, Cartagena, Spain. A survey study was carried out to assess the occurrence of selected tick-borne pathogens (TBP) in wild ungulates in Mediterranean ecosystems in southern Spain. Spleen samples were collected from 1,132 wild ungulates, including 578 red deer, 269 wild boar, 135 mouflon, 121 fallow deer and 29 roe deer, between 2009 and 2015. Eighty-nine ticks collected from TBP-positive animals were also analysed. Samples were tested by PCR and sequenced whenever possible. TBP DNA was detected in 127 of 863 wild ruminants (14.7%; 95% CI: 12.4-17.3) including the following: Anaplasma phagocytophilum (9.2%), Babesia divergens (2.9%), Theileria sp. OT3 (1.7%), Borrelia afzelii (0.7%) and Theileria capreoli (0.2%), but no positive samples were detected in wild boar (0/269). All the strains from mouflon were identified as Theileria sp. OT3, while B. divergens and T. capreoli were mainly found in red deer. Co-infection with A. phagocytophilum and B. divergens, and A. phagocytophilum and Theileria spp. was detected in red deer and mouflon, respectively. The risk factor analysis showed that the prevalences of A. phagocytophilum and piroplasms were species-related. Eighty-nine tick specimens collected from ungulates found to be infected with the selected TBP were identified as Hyalomma lusitanicum (95.5%) and Ixodes ricinus (4.5%). Thirty ticks were positive for Anaplasma/Ehrlichia spp. (33.7%), 25 for Babesia/Theileria (28.1%) and two for B. burgdorferi s.l. (2.3%). Eleven specimens showed co-infections with Anaplasma/Ehrlichia and Babesia/Theileria (10.1%) or Anaplasma/Ehrlichia and B. burgdorferi s.l. (2.3%). The estimated prevalences obtained in the present study suggest the possible contribution of wild ruminants to the maintenance of some selected TBP in Mediterranean ecosystems in southern Spain, while the role of wild boar in the epidemiology of these pathogens seems to be limited in this region. Water resources are increasingly coming under pressure specially around the Mediterranean area, leading to water scarcity and a deterioration in water quality. The use of treated wastewater represents an alternative source to enhance the demand for irrigation water. Water reuse in combination with the promotion of the use of water‐efficient technologies in industry and water‐saving irrigation techniques could lead to good qualitative and quantitative water status for surface and ground water bodies. Nevertheless, food‐borne outbreaks linked to fresh produce irrigated with partially or untreated wastewater caused by bacteria, parasites and enteropathogenic viruses have been widely reported. In the absence of solid scientific understanding of the actual risks involved, consumers are likely less receptive to buy leafy greens irrigated with treated wastewater, also known as reclaimed water. In this study, we aimed to assess the microbiological risks of leafy green vegetables irrigated with treated wastewater in Spain using Norovirus as a model organism to facilitate the development of risk management strategies. A conceptual exposure model was designed to describe the virus fate and transport from the Wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) secondary effluent to the consumers' fork. This study is an example of the use of reclaimed water for irrigation of commercial fields producing leafy greens in the south‐east of Spain and tries to assess potential microbiological risks to the consumers by establishing their safety. This article analyses perceived television quality in a sample of Spanish consumers by considering the role played by viewers' concerns about television contents. It applies to all kinds of terrestrial television channels in Spain. These concerns are found to be classiffied in two categories: pragmatic and moral. The intensity of these concerns is related to the socio-demographic characteristics of the viewers. Male, older and educated viewers are found to show stronger pragmatic concerns on TV content whereas women and older viewers show stronger moral concerns. Pragmatic concerns have a negative influence on perceived TV quality, but no effect is detected for moral concerns. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: This is a critical descriptive study of the situation of cataloging as an academic discipline within Library and Information Science studies in Spain. Material and methods: The descriptive analysis of the sectional contents of the general and specific guidelines of the degrees of Diplomado (three-year degree) and Licenciado five-year degree) in LIS and the curricular programs of the Spanish university schools or departments. Variables analyzed: The denomination and content descriptors of the course offerings and credit hours, The test-retest method was used, with a qualitative processing of data. Results: General data is given about the studies in LIS: their introduction the universities that offer them, and the degrees awarded. Cataloging is considered an obligatory core subject matter, and is represented by several courses that present important differences insofar as their denominations, their credits, and their character from one curricular program to the next. The average credit requisite for obligatory courses in cataloging in Spain is 14 (1 credit = 10 class hours), and 19.7 if electives are also considered. At present, this discipline is undergoing a reform that will produce important changes as a result of the adaptation of university studies to the common framework of the European Union. The aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of a high-intensity interval training (HIIT) intervention based on playground games (MOVI-daFit!) on improvements in adiposity, physical fitness, and cardiometabolic risk factors in schoolchildren. A cluster-randomized controlled trial (RCT) was performed that included 562 schoolchildren (9–11 years) from 10 schools in Cuenca, Spain. The intervention consisted of four 60-min sessions per week in the school setting. Analyses were conducted on the intention-to- treat basis. Changes in physical fitness parameters (cardiorespiratory fitness: main outcome), body composition, blood pressure, and biochemical cardiometabolic risk parameters were analyzed using both mixed linear and logistic regression models, controlling for baseline covariates, Tanner stages, health dietary score index, body mass index, and cluster factor school. In boys, no significant differences in any outcome measure were noted except for the standing long jump test (10.13 cm; 95% CI 2.94 to 17.32; p = 0.006) between the intervention group (IG) and the control group (CG). Improvements in mean arterial pressure (−1.68 mmHg; 95% CI −3.28 to −0.08; p = 0.039), the triglyceride/HDL-c ratio (−0.36 mg/dl; 95% CI −0.59 to −0.13; p = 0.002), C-reactive protein (−0.23 mg/L; 95% CI −0.43 to −0.03), VO
2 max (1.44 ml/kg/min; 95% CI 0.52 to 2.36, p = 0.002), 20-m shuttle run test (3.64 laps; 95% CI 0.51 to 6.78), and standing long jump test (7.04 cm; 95% CI 1.21 to 12.87; p = 0.018) were observed in girls in the IG compared with those in the CG. Body composition parameters did not change significantly in either boys or girls. Additionally, children with lower fitness levels obtained greater improvements than children with higher fitness levels. In conclusion, MOVI-daFit! may represent a good strategy for incorporating HIIT into playground games, although its implementation may need to be improved to extend the benefits to children and enhance its adherence. Purpose: Short- or long-term implant survival and success are related to peri-implant marginal bone loss (MBL), among other key factors. The purpose of this study was to analyze the role of clinical and implant-related variables in MBL over a long-term follow-up. Materials and Methods: A retrospective study of 558 implants in 172 patients was conducted, analyzing the relationship between MBL and clinical, implant-related, and prosthetic design-related variables. MBL was measured on digital radiographs with specific software, using implant threads as reference. Results: Linear mixed analysis revealed the following significant effects: a lower mean MBL for type IV bone (0.047 mm/year, 95% Cl [-0.019, 0.119]) than for type III bone (0.086 mm/year, 95% Cl [0.038, 0.138]), type II bone (0.112 mm/year, 95% Cl [0.070, 0.167]), or type I bone (0.138 mm/year, 95% Cl [0.052, 0.23]); an increased MBL of 0.033 mm/year for each increment of 1 mm in diameter (95% Cl [0.002, 0.065]); a lower mean MBL in smooth implants (0.103 mm/year, 95% Cl [0.090, 0.117]) vs rough implants (0.122 mm/year, 95% Ci [0.102, 0.142]). The mean MBL was > 0 mm/year for all prostheses except for fixed complete dental prostheses. Conclusion: Within the limits of a retrospective follow-up study, a lower mean peri-implant MBL was associated with type IV bone, a smaller diameter, a smooth surface, and a fixed complete dental prosthesis.
