Background: This study aimed to identify subgroups of East Asian female college students experiencing life stress frequencies, and examine whether a difference in general characteristics existed between the extracted classes.Methods: This used a cross-sectional design. Female college students from South Korea (n = 220) and Hong Kong (n = 300) participated in the study. Life stress frequencies using the Life Stress Scale were measured. Latent class analysis as well as binary and multinomial logistic regression analyses were performed to identify the factors associated with extracted classes, and ascertain whether a difference in general characteristics existed between the extracted classes.Results: South Korean participants were classified into two latent groups: "life stress - high" (18.6%) or "life stress - low" (81.4%). Within the Korean latent groups, subjective health status was significantly associated with group classification. In Hong Kong, participants were classified into three latent groups: "life stress - high" (13.7%), "life stress - moderate" (43.9%), and "life stress - low" (42.4%), and the classified groups were significantly associated with the financial status of participants' parents, subjective health status, and body mass index.Limitations: It is difficult to generalize the results to college females in the whole of South Korea and Hong Kong due to the convenience sampling method. Furthermore, further studies using a longitudinal design will be needed to confirm the variables' causal relationship.Conclusions: For alleviating the experienced stress frequency, it is important for female college students to have interventions at the family, societal, and national levels, in addition to their individual efforts. University life is challenging for students, given the college life adjustment, life stress, career barriers, and career decision-making self-efficacy required. COVID-19 has made this even more complex. This study investigated the relationships among these factors in college students who experienced COVID-19. Data were collected using an online cross-sectional structured survey of 1242 university students from December 2020 to January 2021. Data were analyzed via independent-sample t-tests, one-way ANOVAs, Pearson's correlation coefficient, multiple regression, and logistic regression, using SPSS. College life adjustment was significantly correlated with life stress (r = −0.255, p < 0.001), career barriers (r = −0.429, p < 0.001), and career decision-making self-efficacy (r = 0.531, p < 0.001). The regression analysis showed that career barriers, career decision-making self-efficacy, and grade level had a total explanatory power of 33.7% for college life adaptation. The logistic regression analysis showed that the odds ratio (OR) of career barriers being low in the group with a high college life adaptation score was 2.045 (p < 0.001), and the OR of career decision-making self-efficacy being high was 4.107 (p < 0.001), as compared to the group with a low score. To increase college students' adaptation to college life, career support programs that improve career barriers and career decision-making self-efficacy should be developed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: This study aimed to identify the actor and partner effects of daily stress and dyadic coping on marital satisfaction using the Actor-Partner Interdependence Mediational Model (APIeM). Methods: Participants were 314 couples who met the study's eligibility criteria. Data were collected from March to April 2016 through apartment and cooperative company communities in Seoul. Two APIeMs of positive and negative dyadic coping were analyzed using SPSS 20.0 and Mplus 7.4. All measures were self-administered. Results: Daily stress and positive and negative dyadic coping in both spouses had direct actor effects on their marital satisfaction. Daily stress in both spouses had an indirect actor effect on marital satisfaction through their positive and negative dyadic coping. The husband's daily stress had an indirect partner effect on the wife's marital satisfaction through his positive dyadic coping, while the wife's positive dyadic coping had a direct partner effect on the husband's marital satisfaction. The husband's daily stress had an indirect partner effect on the wife's marital satisfaction through his negative dyadic coping, while the wife's negative dyadic coping had a direct partner effect on the husband's marital satisfaction. Conclusion: Dyadic coping is an effective way to deal with couple's daily hassles as it increase their satisfaction in marriage. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background/Objectives: This study is intended to provide basic data on the development of nursing intervention programs to solve the stress of life, the social support, life stress and meaning of life for Climacterium women. Methods/Statistical analysis: The study was conducted by Climacterium women in W city in Gangwon province, collecting data from February 11 to February 22, 2019, and a total of 173 people. Findings: The study found that Climacterium women's social support was significant in age, education, marriage, occupation, and monthly income, and that life stress was significant in age, education, marriage, and monthly income. The meaning of life was significantly higher in education, marriage, occupation, and monthly income. Social support for Climacterium women showed a negative correlation with life stress, and a significant static correlation with the meaning of life. Economic problems, which are a lower factor of life stress of Climacterium women, have been a factor that has a significant negative impact on the meaning of life. Improvements/Applications: Since Climacterium women play a pivotal role in family life, it is necessary to develop a support program that can measure the level of life and fully play a pivotal role in society as a whole. Objective: The study was conducted to develop a theoretical model to comprehensively explain suicidal ideation in Korean college students by including resilience, belongingness, and college life adjustment in addition to depression and stress. Design and Sample: This study was a descriptive survey with 291 college students. Measures: Structural equation modeling was used to the hypotheses on this study. Results: Belongingness and depression showed a statistically significant direct effect, and college life stress and belongingness showed a statistically significant indirect effect. Belongingness was the most influential, and all the predictors in combination had an explanatory power of 37% for suicidal ideation in college students. Conclusions: Findings suggest a model of suicidal ideation focused on perspective, protective factors; previous research provided a negative perspective with focus on risk factors for suicidal ideation. Findings can be used to develop diverse programs to decrease suicidal ideation in college students and help them to adjust to college life. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: This study was done to explore the level of life stress, depression, and suicidal ideation and to identify the associated factors of suicidal ideation (SI) among college nursing students. Method: The design of this study was a descriptive survey design using a convenience sampling. Data collection was done using self-questionnaire from 124 students in 2 universities located in Gyeonggi and Chungnam provinces. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, ANOVA, t-test, Pearson correlation coefficients, and hierarchical multiple regression. Results: Study participants reported low level of SI, depression, and life stress (44.45±19.21, 8.40±5.94, 40.65±32.17). The 53% of variance in SI was significantly explained by life stress related value (β=.41, p<.001), life stress related to interpersonal relationship with family (β=.19, p=.014), life stress related to interpersonal relationship with friends (β=.34, p<.001), and depression (β=.36, p<.001). Conclusions: The results indicate that to decrease the SI in these students, an active interest in the students is needed to lower stress levels in interpersonal relationships with family and friends, in life stress related to value, and for relief of depression. Suicide prevention programs specific to the level of life stress and depression need to be developed for nursing students. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
