This study investigated the affects of cognitive ability, creativity, and self-esteem on kindergartners' problem behaviour. Participants were 203 children (mean age = 65.8 months) attending kindergartens in Korea. Data collection used the Korean version of Child Behaviour Checklist, the Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children, the Torrance Test of Creative Thinking, and the Children's Sense of Self-Esteem Inventory. Pearson's correlations and stepwise multiple regression analysis were used to analyse the data. There were four primary outcomes. First, there were negative correlations between children's problem behaviour (internalising and externalising problems) and cognitive ability. Second, there was a negative correlation between internalising problems and fluency in creativity. No correlation was found between children's externalising problems and creativity. Third, there were negative correlations between children's problem behaviour (internalising and externalising problems) and self-esteem. Fourth, sequential processing, emotional competence, and fluency were revealed to be predictors of children's internalising problems. Social competency and sequential processing were found to be predictors of children's externalising problems.

The bending properties of Dahurian and Japanese larch grown in Korea were comparatively studied to facilitate the effective utilization of both species. The modulus of elasticity (MOE) and modulus of rupture (MOR) of the heartwood and sapwood of both species were observed in the tangential and radial directions using Korean standards. Overall, Dahurain larch showed better bending properties than Japanese larch. In the tangential direction, Dahurian larch had better properties than Japanese larch, but there was no difference in the radial direction between the species. In both species, the bending properties of the heartwood were better than those of the sapwood. In Dahurian larch, the bending properties in the tangential direction were greater than those in the radial direction, but there was no difference in either direction with Japanese larch. The bending properties of both species in both directions were positively correlated with latewood percentage and air-dry density. Bending properties in the radial direction had a negative correlation with the growth ring width, but there was no correlation between the growth ring width and bending properties in the tangential direction for both species. The radial variation of rays within the stems of Dahurian larch and Japanese larch growing in Korea was studied to obtain valuable information to identify the two species and determine wood quality. Uniseriate ray height, fusiform ray height, ray number, ray spacing, and epithelial cell number were investigated by optical microscopy. The heights of uniseriate and fusiform rays and epithelial cell numbers in Dahurian larch were lower than those in Japanese larch. Dahurian larch wood had greater ray number and ray spacing than Japanese larch wood. In both species, the heights of uniseriate and fusiform rays and epithelial cell number increased with increasing growth ring number but then stabilized from a certain growth ring number. However, ray number and ray spacing decreased with age but were stable toward the bark. There were significant differences in all ray properties between the two species. Furthermore, in both species, the number and spacing of rays showed a significant negative correlation with uniseriate ray height. The relationships between uniseriate and fusiform ray height, and between ray spacing and ray number were significantly positive. In conclusion, the results from this study provide basic information that can be used to identify these species, and the quality indices from ray properties will improve the effective utilization of the two woody species. Purpose: To evaluate the diagnostic performance of rectal MRI in predicting candidates for local excision (LE; ypT0-1N0) after neoadjuvant chemoradiation therapy (CRT) in patients with rectal cancer.Materials and Methods: The institutional review board approved our retrospective study and waived informed consent. Inclusion criteria were as follows: patients with pathologically confirmed mid to lower rectal cancer (cT3NxM0 before neoadjuvant CRT) who underwent neoadjuvant CRT and had MRI performed at 3T before and after neoadjuvant CRT. A total of 168 patients met the study criteria between 2011 and 2012. Two observers independently assessed tumor and nodal stages on MR images obtained after neoadjuvant CRT. Sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV), and accuracy for identifying a candidate for LE (ypT0-1N0) were calculated. Interobserver agreement was assessed with kappa value. Predictive factors for ypT0-1N0 were evaluated by logistic regression models.Results: MRI had relatively high accuracy, specificity, and NPV (85.9%, 93.8%, and 88.9% for observer 1 and 85.3%, 96.1%, and 86.6% for observer 2), moderate PPV (71.4% and 76.2%), and relatively low sensitivity (57.1% and 45.7%) for predicting ypT0-1N0. The interobserver agreement was fair (kappa value = 0.593). Carcinoembryonic antigen levels after neoadjuvant CRT and the maximal extramural depth of tumor spread were significant predictors of ypT0-1N0 (P = 0.037 and 0.017, respectively).Conclusion: MRI after neoadjuvant CRT can predict a candidate for LE (ypT0-1N0) after neoadjuvant CRT with moderate PPV and relatively high NPV.
