In Folk Literature, there are lots of subjects which have not never been studied on before or studied slightly. One of those is genre of salavatlama. In Islam World, to say "salavat" after the Prophet Muhammed's name expresses his importance. Religious connations of salâvatlama which aim to express good wishes are also very important in folk culture. Salavatlamas are expressions in verse that are said in wedding, harvesting and wrestling competitions. Today, farmers reap their harvest with harvester through technological developments. Thus harvesting salâvatlamas have disappeared in folk culture. However, salâvatlamas have still continued their existence in wedding ceremonies and in wrestling competitions. Morover, salavatlamas in Sivas which have been taken as a case in this study have partially continued their existence. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
