Testing is an effective method to determine learning outcomes for knowledge and skills learning domains. The aim of this study was to examine the differences in test achievements among 50 Saudi female English major students at the College of Languages at Princess Nourah University in Riyadh. The tests were administered using two different methods: paper-based and Blackboard-based (online). Additionally, the study explored the impact of these two test methods on students' achievement in terms of course learning outcomes. The results of the study indicated that there was no significant difference between the two test methods in terms of overall test scores. However, it was found that the Blackboard-based test resulted in slightly higher scores for knowledge domain outcomes, while the paper-based test showed higher scores for skills domain outcomes. The results obtained in this study suggest that both paper-based and Blackboard-based test methods can be equally effective at assessing the general achievement of students. However, the choice of test method may have a slight impact on the specific learning outcomes being assessed, with Blackboard-based tests favouring knowledge domain outcomes and paper-based tests favouring skills domain outcomes. Furthermore, when using Blackboard-based tests, time pressure should be taken into consideration, as it is observed to significantly influence students' performance in both learning domains.

The present study examines the impact of implementing video captioning and subtitles on listening comprehension with special reference to the speaker's speed. A total of 64 undergraduate Saudi EFL learners were assigned into six groups: fast speaker with full captioning, fast speaker with subtitles, fast speaker with no captioning nor subtitles, slow speaker with full captioning, and slow speaker with subtitles, slow speaker with no captioning nor subtitles. Each group was instructed to watch a video in English under its assigned condition and then answered a listening test. Participants also answered a questionnaire to determine the impact of these conditions on their cognitive load. The results revealed that the group that viewed the video of slow speakers with a caption obtained the highest score on the listening comprehension test, followed by the group that viewed the video of fast speakers with a caption. The group that viewed no caption video of fast speakers obtained the lowest scores. The questionnaire analysis indicated that the students in the subtitle slow group reported using low mental effort, whereas the students in the caption fast group reported using very high mental effort followed by the students in the caption slow group who also reported using high mental effort.

The study aimed to reveal the effectiveness of virtual tours to the archaeological sites in Al-Ahsa in developing historical concepts among kindergarten children and to identify the differences between males and females in acquiring historical concepts. To achieve these objectives, a quasi-experimental approach based on one group design was used. The sample of the study consisted of (30) boys and girls between the ages of (5-6) years in the third level in the kindergarten attached to the third elementary school for early childhood in Hofuf in Al-Ahsa Governorate. The pictured historical concepts test was applied after calculating the coefficients of validity and reliability, and virtual tours to the archaeological sites in Al-Ahsa were applied. They included Al-Qarah Mountain, Suq Al-Qaysariyya, Ibrahim Palace, Jawatha Mosque, Al-Amiriya School, Al-Bay'ah House, Al-Uqair Port, and Al-Asfaar Lake in the experimental group. The results showed statistically significant differences at (0.05) between the means of the scores of the experimental group in the pre-and post-applications in the pictured test of historical concepts in favor of the post-application. Also, there was an effect size of virtual tours to archaeological sites on the development of historical concepts among kindergarten children. In addition, the results showed no statistically significant differences at (0.05) between the means of the scores of males and females in the historical concepts test pictured in the post application. The study recommended the inclusion of virtual tours and historical concepts in the self-learning curriculum for kindergarten.

Despite the plethora of research on computer-supported collaborative writing, previous studies have failed to provide an adequate analysis of the quality and quantity of multi-authored texts due to the vast amount of unstructured data. This study aims to expand the current research by contributing new perspectives to the understanding of students' collaborative writing interactions and strategies. Nineteen EFL learners, divided into five groups, were asked to collaboratively write a literature review on a selected research topic using Google Docs. The qualitative and quantitative analysis of the data, supported by text mining using DocuViz, revealed that the groups demonstrated patterns of interactions along the continuum of equality and mutuality. However, due to the nature of the required task, groups with the same collaborative interaction patterns exhibited some writing strategy variations. Text visualization analysis further revealed that the groups adopted more than one writing strategy to complete the task. They tended to start with an outline in which the task was divided, and students worked either in parallel or sequentially. This was followed by cooperative revisions or a synchronous hands-on style before the task's due date. By using multiple data analyses, this study distinguishes between interaction patterns and writing strategies, two concepts previously used interchangeably. Methodological and pedagogical implications are also presented.

The present study came through its topic: The Importance of E-learning in teaching Mathematics to explore the use of students in the educational learning process, I tried to add to the results of previous studies by revealing more the nature of the use of the Internet as well as the nature of e-learning among students. The researcher attempted to add to the challenges of the previous studies in terms of human challenges related to the personal initiative of the school and university student to use the Internet as a means to embody e-learning in mathematics. As the human side has a fundamental role the realization of obstacles towards the introduction of educational technology in the educational process such as resistance to change and the establishment of all-new, including modern technology in the introduction of the educational process regardless of its benefits or its services. The researcher also referred in this study to some experiences in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other countries in the field of e-learning to add value to this study and as a case that may interest other countries to follow.

The research aimed to identify the effectiveness of a program on international health standards and investigate its impact on developing health concepts for kindergarten children. To achieve this objective, the quasi-experimental design of two groups: control and experimental was used. The main research sample consisted of (60) boys and girls. They were randomly divided into two groups, the experimental group (30) and the control group (30). The homogeneity of the two groups was verified in the main variables. Then, the test of health concepts was applied after calculating the factors of difficulty, discrimination, and indications of validity and reliability. In addition, the program was applied to the experimental group, which consisted of (49) activities. The results of the research showed statistically significant differences at (0.05) between the means of the scores of the control group and the experimental group in the post-test of the test of health concepts in favor of the experimental group. This indicates the program's effectiveness in developing health concepts. The study also showed no statistically significant differences at (0.05) between the means of the male and female scores of the experimental group in acquiring the health concepts presented to them through the program. The research suggested several recommendations, the most important of which is the inclusion of international health standards in the self-learning curriculum for kindergarten.

This study aimed at identifying the reasons responsible for the low performance of the students of the second intermediate grade in science's tests in the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS). It also intends to provide a proposal for developing the performance of the students of the second intermediate grade in science tests in TIMSS. The study adopts the descriptive methodology. To achieve the results of the study, a questionnaire was prepared to identify the reasons responsible for the low performance of the students of the second intermediate grade in science tests in TIMSS. It consisted of three-dimension i.e. course content, student, and teacher & teaching performance. The results of the study showed that the study sample members are agreed with a high degree of all items of the questionnaire. Considering these results, the study provided a proposal to develop the performance of the students of the second intermediate grade in science tests in TIMSS. The proposal also consists of the same dimensions i.e. course content, student and teacher & teaching performance. The study recommends benefiting from the proposal to develop the performance of students of the second intermediate grade in science tests in TIMSS. It also suggests conducting future studies aimed at comparing some variables related to science education and learning in advanced-performing countries and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

This study investigates motivation types of Saudi and Chines EFL learners and gender role differences. I selected these two groups because they constituted the most dominant groups that study English abroad. The descriptive and correlational approaches were used to examine the participants' motivation by collecting the data through questionnaire and interviews. Twenty-five Saudi and Chinese college level English language students were selected as samples for collecting data for answering the research questions. The findings showed that both groups have extrinsic and intrinsic motivation as well integrative and instrumental motivation. The Chinese group's intrinsic motivation is stronger than the extrinsic motivation.

The National Center for Measurement (Qiyas) was established for the purpose of conducting standardized tests in Saudi Arabia. The center has developed multiple Qiyas tests such as the General Aptitude Test (GAT) and the Scholastic Achievement Admission Test (SAAT). Qiyas tests are used as a pre-requisite requirement for applying to universities and to certain kinds of jobs in Saudi Arabia. Currently, students use traditional methods to prepare for these tests, e.g., studying from books and searching for available learning resources on the internet. These web-based resources are mostly static and only have general guidelines about the tests and a history of available test samples. This research proposes a computer-based collaborative learning (CL) environment that helps support learners during their preparation for the Qiyas tests. A four-stage approach is used in this research: (1) an intensive review of 30 CL platforms is carried out to investigate the available features, (2) two workshops are conducted to evaluate the appropriateness of the features identified in Stage 1 as well as to investigate what other features would be appropriate for Qiyas tests, (3) a CL platform is developed for Qiyas tests for a total of 21 features, (4) and, lastly, the platform is evaluated using two methods, in-depth interviews with experts and an empirical study with instructors and learners. The results show that the platform helps support learners in the participative, cognitive, interactive, and social dimensions of the learning processes. The results also help instructors promote the teaching experience.

This study examined the effect of utilizing e-portfolio reflection-enhancing tasks in a practicum course on developing student teachers' level of reflection. It sought to answer how engaging EFL student teachers in writing a teaching philosophy and peer observation affect their understanding of and appreciation for reflective practice and its influence on developing their reflection level and teaching performance. A mixed-methods study design was implemented where both quantitative and qualitative data were collected within this study. Eight female Saudi student teachers enrolled in a teacher education program at a public university in Saudi Arabia participated in this study while completing an 11-week teaching practicum course at a public secondary school in Riyadh. Each participant was tasked with completing a teaching philosophy and six peer observations with other participants within the study. Each task was analyzed for its reflection level based on a rubric developed by El-Okda (2009). Data were also collected through a semi-structured interview with each of the participants. This study demonstrated that while the participants struggled throughout the practicum to develop a cogent teaching philosophy, their level of reflection for the peer observation tasks improved throughout the teaching practice. Their enthusiasm for these tasks and the process of reflection itself was very positive. The results of this study will help teacher educators to create an informative account of reflection in teaching practice programs in ways that encourage reflective practice among student teachers. Future research could continue to explore more reflective tasks that encourage reflection among student teachers.

Background: Language learners are taking advantage of the increased accuracy afforded by machine translation (MT) tools like Google Translate. There is a growing debate as to whether these tools support or hinder English as a foreign language (EFL) education. Some EFL students are drawn to MT tools to save time and energy when communicating, but how this use relates to second language acquisition needs to be clarified. Objective: This study investigated the perceptions and practices of MT tools among university EFL students in Saudi Arabia and South Korea. Methods: The study surveyed Saudi (n = 310) and South Korean (n = 160) university students to explore the use of MT tools in EFL learning. It used mean scores, correlation analysis, and structural equation modelling to understand the perceived benefits and limitations of MT tools and their influence on the use of translation websites. The findings were triangulated using content analysis of open-ended items. Results and Conclusion: Findings indicate students showed a high level of acceptance and utilization of MT tools. English avoidance behaviour (B = 0.43), benefits (B = 0.32), and foreign language proficiency (B = -0.19) predicted 61% of actual use of MT tools like Google Translate. Further, students frequently used MT tools despite the reported concerns about accuracy mistakes. Saudi students listed a more comprehensive array of why they use MT tools than Korean students, while Saudis and Koreans frequently used MT tools for individual word and sentence translations. Implications: Students should edit MT output when writing and are encouraged to use the voice recording and other functions of MT tools to learn language skills. Instructors must prevent overuse and dependency on MT tools, especially among low-proficiency students who want to avoid using English.

Assessing learners' oral skills are considered as a crucial process in most EFL teaching and learning programs. However, it can be challenging for teachers to make a valid, reliable, and fair assessment. This study aimed to investigate Saudi college students' and teachers' point of views toward the effectiveness of oral assessment techniques used to assess learners speaking-skills in the EFL classroom. Two different questionnaires were administered to 12 EFL teachers and forty-two students' who are majoring in English at the Languages and Translation College at King Saud University. Both quantitative and qualitative data were collected from respondents, treated statistically, analyzed and revealed in the following sections. The findings of the study revealed that EFL teachers are using a variety of communicative oral assessment techniques and are utilizing effective assessment procedures in assessing their students' speaking skills. For students, the results revealed that students are generally satisfied with the assessment techniques and procedures that, teachers use in assessing their language performance. Recommendations and suggestions are offered for all concerned parties.

This study empirically investigates the correlation between leaders' transformational leadership (TL) behaviors and subordinates' psychological empowerment (PE) in Saudi universities. It also explores whether supervisors' gender is associated with TL and PE. In this study, 154 female faculty members who hold leadership positions in Saudi universities rated the TL and PE behaviors of their direct supervisors using the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire-5X and the Physiological Empowerment Questionnaire. The results indicate that TL is significantly correlated with PE. Furthermore, there was no significant difference between genders in implementing TL and PE practices. The findings suggest that universities should have more women in leadership positions and that various fundamental initiatives are needed to encourage further empowerment and development of female leaders.

The purpose of this study was to provide information about the effectiveness of the autism spectrum disorders (ASD) preparation program of Saudi universities from the perceptions of pre-service teachers that are currently studying in autism program. It was also to provide information about the number of Saudi universities that offer personal preparation programs for special education teachers preparing to serve individuals with ASD. An ANOVA was conducted to compare the level of satisfaction in five domain areas assessed across university training programs. The results indicated that, overall, students were satisfied with the special education programs quality offered in various Saudi Universities. Only a few concerns related to the ASD teacher's preparation programs have been found. There are public calls for Saudi Arabia higher-education institutions to be accountable to the importance of producing well-prepared professionals to work with ASD students.

The 21st century faculty member is expected to teach, engage the learner, absorb new discoveries and rely on different knowledge in the execution of duties. This calls for up-to-date skills for instruction, assessment, and identification of opportunities by faculty members to promote learning. This paper investigates the prospects of promoting training programs for faculty members in Saudi universities by presenting a comparison of qualitative data between the efforts of two major American universities, the American University and Virginia Tech University, and the efforts of King Saud University. This comparison tries to display how these universities endeavor to meet the current teaching and learning needs. The results are not surprising; the two American universities are coming up with skills training programs that are deemed to be appropriate, including: conferences and workshops, faculty member orientations, consulting, instructional support, online training, discussion forums, family-led discussions, junior faculty training, and summer training programs. They appear to have successfully instituted the 21st century focused skills training programs. Consequently, faculty members from these universities are able to provide students with the knowledge needed to navigate the current challenges. In contrast, King Saud University may have not instituted the programs effectively. Unfortunately, it has not prioritized 21st century professional skill training programs that would make faculty members fit well in the changed learning environments. However, there is a chance for fully implementing new programs that suit the current challenges and needs for faculty members in Saudi universities. Therefore, the paper provides some recommendations for trainers as well as program developers on the light of these results.

The current study aims to verify the impact of children's secure attachment to their mothers on their mastery motivation in the light of the dependence on domestic workers' phenomenon in the Saudi society. To achieve the goals of the study, a random sample of Saudi children was selected from Riyadh city in Saudi Arabia, whose favorable economic circumstances contributed in the dependence of their families on domestic workers. The sample is consisted of two pre-school children groups who were under six years old; the first group is consisted of (74) child whose families depend on domestic workers, while the second group is consisted of (109) child from families who do not depend on domestic workers to care for their children. The outcomes were collected after applying DMQ 17 questionnaire for assessing mastery motivation for children below the age of 6 for George Morgan. The results showed that early attachment's relationship with mothers has a prominent impact on the mastery motivation development. Moreover, the outcomes showed no significant effects of domestic workers who are in charge of housekeeping, and care services on all mastery motivation dimensions.

This piece theorises the limitations of transitioning reflection from individualistic to participatory practice. It addresses the question: what are the challenges of introducing crowd-reflecting into Arab academia? To answer this question, 140 Arabs from an academic organisation were invited to crowd-reflect, online, on their institution, using a five-phase model. The data analysis showed that limited cultures of collaboration, healthy conflict, cross-gender communication, integrity and critical thinking in Arab academia challenged crowd-reflecting. Despite implementing strategies to overcome these challenges, crowd-reflecting resulted in chaos at the institution, forcing management to intervene to stop the project. This chaos ensued because crowd-reflecting, unlike individualistic reflection, entailed numerous individuals and intersubjectivity -- which complicated reflectiveness, turned thoughtful Arab individuals into a mob and jeopardised the well-documented gains of individualistic reflection. Although crowd-reflecting was initiated to improve organisations, it destabilised the institution and turned it into a counter-learning organisation. This implies that, in Arab academia, beyond micro-level small groups, the more participants there are in reflection, the less effective the learning outcomes may be. In Arab academia, meso-level reflection (and, by implication, macro-level reflection such as the mega-reflecting of the Twittersphere) can risk ruining the art of reflectiveness.

Background: Digital devices significantly contribute to vision-related problems. In addition, prolonged postural imbalance, owing to excessive use of digital devices, can lead to the tightening of head and neck muscles, resulting in neck pain, a common musculoskeletal discomfort that significantly affects individuals with poor vision. This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence and interrelationships of screen time, visual disorders, and neck pain among students at Majmaah University. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted at Majmaah University, Saudi Arabia, enrolling students aged 18 to 25 years. Exclusion criteria included neurological or musculoskeletal disorders. Demographic data and information on visual and neck pain symptoms were collected. The Neck Disability Index questionnaire was used to assess neck pain, and data were analyzed using SPSS version 24.0. Results: Among 263 participants, 53.6% were female. Nearsightedness (38.0%) and dry/itchy eyes (49.0%) were the most common visual disorders and symptoms, respectively. Visual disorders were prevalent in 62.0% of students, while neck pain was reported by 79.5%. Females and those studying for more than 5 h using electronic screens daily reported higher neck disability index scores. A significant association was found between >5 h of study duration [screen time] and neck disability (OR 3.703, 95% CI 1.500–9.144, p = 0.005). Conclusion: The study highlights a relationship between visual problems and neck pain among university students, emphasizing the need for addressing vision-related issues to reduce neck discomfort. High screen time could substantially increase the odds of developing neck disability. However, authors warrant cautious interpretation in the light of following limitations: cross-sectional study, small sample size, lack of statistical power, and self-reported data. Background: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of 8-week exercise programs (aerobic, stretching, and aerobic plus stretching) in improving menstrual characteristics in female adolescents in Saudi Arabia. Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, seventy-eight healthy female adolescents aged 12–18 from secondary and high schools in Riyadh participated. Participants were divided into three groups and subjected to different types of exercises (aerobic, stretching, and aerobic plus stretching) for 20–30 min, three times a week. Menstrual pain, stress, and attitudes were assessed using the Numerical Rating Scale, Adolescent Stress Questionnaire Short Version, and Adolescent Menstrual Attitude Questionnaire, respectively. Assessments were conducted before the intervention and after the third menstrual period post-intervention. Results: The aerobic exercise group experienced a significant reduction in the mean length of the menstrual cycle (p = 0.025). The aerobic plus stretching group had the most significant reduction in mean menstrual pain scores (p < 0.0001). Stress scores were significantly reduced in the stretching group (p < 0.0001). Conclusion: We conclude that combining aerobic and stretching exercises significantly reduces menstrual pain, while aerobic exercise decreases menstrual cycle length and pain. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper reviewed the development of early childhood education (ECE) in Saudi Arabia and its strengths and weaknesses. The paper discusses the contextual background of Saudi Arabia, including its geography, demographics, social system, economy, political system and religion. In addition, the paper investigated the education system at large in Saudi Arabia, including its development, objectives, enrollment and challenges.

Validated screening and diagnostic tools for autism spectrum disorder for use in Arabic-speaking individuals are scarce. This study validated the Arabic version of the Social Communication Questionnaire. The total study sample included 206 children with autism spectrum disorder and 206 typically developing children (73.8% male; mean age: 8.5 (standard deviation = 2.6) years). The mean Social Communication Questionnaire total score was significantly higher in autism spectrum disorder children than in typically developing children (p < 0.0001). Scores on the three Social Communication Questionnaire subscales also differed significantly between the groups (p < 0.001). Of the 39 items, 37 were endorsed significantly more often in the autism spectrum disorder group. The total Social Communication Questionnaire score did not vary by age or gender. Internal consistency was excellent (alpha = 0.92). In the receiver operating characteristic analysis, the area under the curve for the total score showed excellent discrimination between autism spectrum disorder and typically developing children (area under the curve = 0.95; 95% confidence interval: 0.93-0.97). The areas under the curve for the scale subscores were 0.923 (95% confidence interval: 0.898-0.949) for the social interaction score, 0.872 (95% confidence interval: 0.838-0.905) for the communication score, and 0.856 (95% confidence interval: 0.819-0.893) for the repetitive behaviors score. The findings support the use of the Arabic Social Communication Questionnaire to successfully differentiate children with clinically diagnosed autism spectrum disorder using the established cutoff value for the English version.

This study aimed to comprehensively assess the knowledge, awareness, and misconceptions regarding sexually transmitted infections (STIs) among women in Saudi Arabia. A cross-sectional survey was conducted with 600 women aged 18–55 from various regions across the country. The findings revealed moderate overall STI knowledge, with gaps in understanding transmission routes (31.7%), recognizing symptoms (40.8%), and awareness of prevention methods (35.2%). Prevalent misconceptions included the belief that STIs can spread through casual contact (38%), only individuals with multiple partners are at risk (30%), and STIs are always symptomatic (32%). Demographic factors such as age, education level, and marital status significantly influenced STI knowledge, while residential area did not. Higher education, particularly bachelor's degrees and above, was strongly associated with better awareness. Digital platforms like the internet and social media emerged as significant sources of STI information. Undergoing STI testing, discussing STIs with partners, using protection, and receiving the HPV vaccine were linked to higher knowledge levels. This study highlights the need for targeted educational interventions, integration of sexual health education into curricula, training healthcare providers, community engagement, and leveraging digital platforms to enhance STI awareness and prevention efforts among Saudi women. Objectives: To understand the prevalence and survival rates of preterm birth )PTB( is of utmost importance in informing healthcare planning, improving neonatal care, enhancing maternal and infant health, monitoring long-term outcomes, and guiding policy and advocacy efforts. Methods: The medical records of preterm infants admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit )NICU( with a diagnosis of prematurity at the Maternity and Children's Hospital )MCH(, Al Kharj, Saudi Arabia, were reviewed between January 2018 and December 2022. Data were collected on birth weight )BW(, gender, number of live births, gestational age, mortality, nationality, APGAR score, length of stay in the NICU, and maternal details. Original Article Results: A total of 9809 live births were identified between 2018 and 2022, of which 139 )3.9%( were born preterm. The overall mortality rate of the included sample was 7.19%, whereas the mortality rate according to BW was 38.4% of those born with extremely low birth weight )ELBW(. The most common intrapartum complications were malpresentation )15.1%(, placental complications )4.3%(, and cord complications )3.6%(. Conclusion: This study provides valuable insights into the prevalence of PTB in the country, particularly focusing on the vulnerability of extremely preterm babies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The global impact of COVID‐19 heightened existential awareness particularly among parents. This period provided a unique opportunity to implement the circle of security program, equipping parents to address parental stress, anxiety, and depression. Conducted with mothers in Saudi Arabia ranging in age from 19 to 30 years, this quasi‐experimental intervention study demonstrated a notable reduction in negative emotions, coupled with enhanced parent–child relationships and a strengthened sense of purpose in parenting. A total of 70 (55%) mothers attended at least 6 of 8 sessions, the criteria for completer status. After the intervention, there was a significant improvement in mental health, as the majority of participants fell within the normal ranges for anxiety (91.4%), depression (95.7%), and stress (95.7%). Furthermore, statistical evaluations provided strong evidence of the intervention's success, demonstrating a significant reduction in mean anxiety scores from 4.44 ± 3.88 to 2.8 ± 2.01 (p = 0.08), depression scores from 6.2 ± 5.0 to 3.54 ± 2.5 (p < 0.001), and stress scores from 9.29 ± 4.45 to 4.9 ± 4.5 (p < 0.001). Introduction: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) presents with symptoms like numbness, tingling, and weakness along the median nerve pathway. Risk factors include prolonged wrist positions, repetitive muscle contractions, and exposure to vibrations. Aim: To determine the prevalence of CTS among healthcare practitioners at vaccine facilities in Saudi Arabia. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study on a total of 150 healthcare practitioners (aged 25-30 years) working in vaccination centres in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia were recruited. The study was conducted from November 2021 to March 2022. The authors collected demographic data, Body Mass Index (BMI) and work shift information, and administered two validated questionnaires, the Boston Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Questionnaire (BCTSQ) and the Duruoz Hand Index (DHI). CTS symptoms were diagnosed using Phalen's and Arm Raising Test (ART). Results: Of the 150 practitioners (aged 25-45 years), predominantly in the 25-30 age group, n=65 (44.0%) tested positive on the Phalen's test, and n=65 (43.5%) on the ART. Females had higher BCTSQ scores, while DHI scores were similar across genders. Spearman's correlation analysis showed positive correlations between BCTSQ and DHI, and a moderate negative correlation between ART and DHI. Logistic regression analysed factors affecting the likelihood of CTS diagnosed by ART and Phalen's Test. Higher BCTSQ and DHI scores increased the likelihood of CTS (ART: BCTSQ OR=0.843, DHI OR=1.064; Phalen's Test: BCTSQ OR=0.830, DHI OR=1.069). Conclusion: During the Coronavirus Disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, the prevalence of CTS among healthcare practitioners at vaccine centres in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia reached up to 43-44%. The present study highlights that day shift workers face a higher risk of CTS compared to night shift workers, likely due to heavier daytime workloads. This underscores the need for ergonomic interventions and workload management, especially during high-demand periods like the vaccination campaign, to safeguard healthcare workers' health and productivity. This research analyses the long-term vegetation trends in Shada Mountain across six elevation zones, utilizing Landsat 5, 7, 8, and 9 imageries processed via Google Earth Engine and R. The study managed differences in images resolution through meticulous calibration and image processing techniques. The study is structured around two objectives: examining the relationship between vegetation and its proximity to streams and land surface temperature and analyzing trends in the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI). Regression analysis revealed a negative correlation between vegetation and proximity to streams in lower zones (1-3), with no significant effect in higher zones (4-6). NDVI trend analysis indicated an overall increase in vegetation across most zones, with the exception of zone 5, which displayed a negative trend (slope -0.0025). The findings reveal that the decline is particularly pronounced among key tree species such as Ficus cordata subsp. salicifolia and Acacia asak, suggesting potential impacts from climate change and land use alterations. Background: Recent guidelines recommend using direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) as first-line agents in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF). Research is currently investigating the use of Apixaban in underweight patients, with some results suggesting altered pharmacokinetics, decreased drug absorption, and potential overdosing in this population. This study examined the effectiveness and safety of standard Apixaban dosing in adult patients with atrial NVAF weighing less than 50 kg. Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study conducted at King Abdulaziz Medical City (KAMC); adult patients with a body mass index (BMI) below 25 who received a standard dose of Apixaban (5 mg twice daily) were categorized into two sub-cohorts based on their weight at the time of Apixaban initiation. Underweight was defined as patients weighing ≤ 50 kg, while the control group (Normal weight) comprised patients weighing > 50 kg. We followed the patients for at least one year after Apixaban initiation. The study's primary outcome was the incidence of stroke events, while secondary outcomes included bleeding (major or minor), thrombosis, and venous thromboembolism (VTE). Propensity score (PS) matching with a 1:1 ratio was used based on predefined criteria and regression model was utilized as appropriate. Results: A total of 1,433 patients were screened; of those, 277 were included according to the eligibility criteria. The incidence of stroke events was lower in the underweight than in the normal weight group at crude analysis (0% vs. 9.1%) p-value = 0.06), as well in regression analysis (OR (95%CI): 0.08 (0.001, 0.76), p-value = 0.002). On the other hand, there were no statistically significant differences between the two groups in the odds of major and minor bleeding (OR (95%CI): 0.39 (0.07, 2.03), p-value = 0.26 and OR (95%CI): 1.27 (0.56, 2.84), p-value = 0.40, respectively). Conclusion: This exploratory study revealed that underweight patients with NVAF who received standard doses of Apixaban had fewer stroke events compared to normal-weight patients, without statistically significant differences in bleeding events. Odontogenic tumors (OTs) are distinct conditions that develop in the jawbones, exhibiting diverse histopathological features and variable clinical behaviors. Unfortunately, the literature on this subject in Saudi Arabia remains sparse, indicating a pressing need for more comprehensive data concerning the frequency, demographics, treatment modalities, and outcomes of OTs. Objectives: The study aims to evaluate the frequency, demographic features, treatment, and outcomes of OTs across three tertiary medical centers. Methods and Material: OT cases were identified in King Abdulaziz Medical City (KAMC), King Fahad Medical City (KFMC), and Prince Sultan Military Medical City (PSMMC) from January 2010 to December 2021. Results: Ninety-two OT cases were identified from the anatomical pathology laboratories of three tertiary hospitals. KFMC contributed the highest number of cases (43.5%), followed by KAMC (30.4%) and PSMMC (26.1%). The median age of OT patients was 29 years (range: 5–83), with males representing more than half of the patients (56.5%). The mandible was the most frequent site of OT occurrence (72.5%), with ameloblastoma being the predominant OT (63.0%), followed by odontoma (19.5%). Among the treatment modalities, bone resection was employed the most (51.0%), followed by enucleation (25.6%). Notably, 11.5% of OT cases with available follow-up data exhibited recurrence, with ameloblastoma accounting for eight recurrent cases. Conclusions: Although OTs are relatively common in the jaws, they are rare in anatomical pathology laboratories and the general population. Knee injuries represent a significant health concern for young male football players in Saudi Arabia. Despite global research on football-related injuries, there is a distinct lack of studies focusing on this demographic in the Saudi context. This research aims to fill this gap, offering insights into injury prevalence and risk factors, thereby contributing to athlete well-being and informing tailored interventions. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of knee injuries among youth male football players in Saudi Arabia, with a focus on injury patterns, risk factors, and associated factors. A cross-sectional study was conducted, involving 104 male football players who represent five Saudi clubs and are aged 18.82 ± 0.68 years. Injury data, including severity, timing, and mechanisms, were collected. Logistic regression analyses were performed to assess the impact of various factors on the likelihood of knee injuries. The study revealed that 37.5% of participants reported prior knee injuries, predominantly muscle injuries (61.5%) occurring during training. Ligamentous injuries, particularly anterior cruciate ligament injuries, were also notable (25.6%). Logistic regression analyses indicated that factors such as age, weight, height, body mass index, playing position, duration of playing football, and playing surface significantly influenced the odds of sustaining a knee injury. This study provides insights into the prevalence and patterns of knee injuries among youth male football players in the central region of Saudi Arabia. Muscle injuries are common. Factors such as age, weight, and playing position contribute to the risk of knee injuries. The findings underscore the need for targeted injury prevention strategies and player education programs. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted after receiving clarifications regarding the objectives of the research and signing a statement of informed consent. The participants of the study comprised of total number of 300 dental surgeons (Male-186; Female-114) with age range from 20- to 55- years-old to understand the knowledge, attitude, and perception among dentists on the computer technology applications in surgical implant dentistry. The questionnaire was formulated and given and data was collected from dental surgeon. The data were entered and analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS 20). A P-value of less than 0.05 was considered to be statistically significant. Results: The majority of participants, 198(66%) were said that they were aware of the use of digital technologies in your practice? (e.g.-RVG, CBCT, Intraoral Scanner). Majority of participants 267(89%) agreed that currently available digital technologies users friendly. Participants 155 (52%) stated that they will prefer OPG as imaging modality while planning implants. Majority of the dentists 219 (73%) agreed that their patients would prefer implant placement over conventional methods for replacing tooth. Conclusions: Study findings revealed that dental professionals possess a high level of knowledge and education towards dental implants with digital applications. However, further progress is needed on all educational levels, in addition to advanced level training of dental implant placement for the purpose of enabling dentists to carry out dental implant procedures with a higher level of confidence. The genome of severe acute respiratory coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2), the virus responsible for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), has undergone a rapid evolution, resulting in the emergence of multiple SARS-CoV-2 variants with amino acid changes. This study aimed to sequence the whole genome of SARS-CoV-2 and detect the variants present in specimens from Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, we sought to analyze and characterize the amino acid changes in the various proteins of the identified SARS-CoV-2 variants. A total of 1161 samples from patients diagnosed with COVID-19 in Saudi Arabia, between 1 April 2021 and 31 July 2023, were analyzed. Whole genome sequencing was employed for variant identification and mutation analysis. The statistical analysis was performed using the Statistical Analytical Software SAS, version 9.4, and GraphPad, version 9.0. This study identified twenty-three variants and subvariants of SARS-CoV-2 within the population, with the Omicron BA.1 (21K) variant (37.0%) and the Delta (21J) variant (12%) being the most frequently detected. Notably, the Omicron subvariants exhibited a higher mean mutation rate. Amino acid mutations were observed in twelve proteins. Among these, the spike (S), ORF1a, nucleocapsid (N), and ORF1b proteins showed a higher frequency of amino acid mutations compared to other the viral proteins. The S protein exhibited the highest incidence of amino acid mutations (47.6%). Conversely, the ORF3a, ORF8, ORF7a, ORF6, and ORF7b proteins appeared more conserved, demonstrating the lowest percentage and frequency of amino acid mutations. The investigation of structural protein regions revealed the N-terminal S1 subunit of the S protein to frequently harbor mutations, while the N-terminal domain of the envelope (E) protein displayed the lowest mutation frequency. This study provides insights into the variants and genetic diversity of SARS-CoV-2, underscoring the need for further research to comprehend its genome evolution and the occurrence of mutations. Lifestyle behaviors are daily habits influenced by social and environmental factors. This study examined lifestyle behaviors and their associations with sociodemographics, comorbidities, and pain in Saudi university students during the academic year 2021 and 2022. All students received the study invitation via university emails to complete an online questionnaire. The questionnaire included four sections (sociodemographics, health-related information, desired health promotion activities, and a lifestyle behavior assessment) via Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile II (HPLP-II). The associations between study variables were assessed using Pearson's correlation and multiple linear regression. The study questionnaire was completed by 1112 students. No correlation was found between sociodemographics and lifestyle-behavior-related factors except for students in the College of Science who appeared to have good lifestyle behaviors (an increase in HPLP II total scores of 3.69). Students with mental health issues have poorer lifestyle behaviors and spend more time sitting (p < 0.00). Students without disabilities have lower scores in health responsibility, physical activity, nutrition, and stress management, while auditory disability specifically lowers health responsibility (p < 0.00). Pain was not associated with any assessed lifestyle behaviors. This study identified several significant correlations and differences between variables such as age, sedentary behavior, sleep duration, disability status, college major, and lifestyle behaviors among PNU students. These findings provide insights into the factors that influence students' health-promoting behaviors and can help guide interventions for promoting healthier lifestyles on campus. Targeted health promotion strategies at an early age could help in decreasing overall noncommunicable disease incidents later in life. The study results should be interpreted taking into consideration that the collected data were cross-sectional and self-reported. Background: Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is one of the most common conditions resulting in disability, particularly in the elderly population. Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common articular disease and the leading cause of chronic disability in the developed world. Objective: This study was carried out to evaluate knee pain in the Asir region of Saudi Arabia. An analytical cross-sectional survey design was adopted in the Asir region from April 2023 to August 2023 to assess the knee pain of the adult population using an anonymous online questionnaire. Results: Of 1234, 332 were men (26.90) and 902 were women (73.09). WOMAC index score category 55.34% (n = 683) of the subjects had a low risk (score <60), 28.68% (n = 354) had a moderate risk (score 60–80), and 15.96% (n = 197) had a high risk (score ≥81) for KOA. According to clinical criteria, 79.33% (n = 979) of the study subjects had OA. Age group, gender 2.17 (1. 67–2.82) [OR 2.17; 95% CI 1.67–2.82), family history of OA [OR 0.47; 95% CI 0.37–0.62], diabetes [OR 2.78; 95% CI 2.17–3.56], hypertension [OR 0.35; 95% CI 0.26–0.45] were significantly associated with the percentage of the WOMAC index score using the Chi-square test analysis (P<0.05). Therefore, the WOMAC index showed higher diagnostic precision with a statistically significant association [OR 9.31 CI 6.90–12.81] with a P< 0.0001. Conclusion: KOA is more common in older, obese people who have reached the age of 50 in the Asir region, and it is more prevalent in women. Background: Proper knowledge about postpartum depression (PPD) will help recognize symptoms and encourage women to seek the needed professional help. Until now, there has been a scarcity of research on the literacy level of PPD among the Saudi population and the factors affecting it. This study translated the Postpartum Depression Literacy Scale (PoDLiS) into Arabic and evaluated its psychometric properties. Furthermore, the Saudi population's mental health literacy for PPD and the factors associated with it were examined as a secondary objective. Methods: This cross-sectional study involved 2,336 participants selected via convenience sampling from all over Saudi Arabia, all of whom willingly agreed to participate. Data collection was done through an online questionnaire using Google Forms, covering sociodemographic characteristics and the Arabic PoDLiS. Results: The Arabic version of PoDLiS showed acceptable goodness-of-fit between the observed data and the resulting six-factor solution, RMSEA = 0.049, 90% confidence interval RMSEA (0.010–0.050), pCLOSE = 0.742, CFI = 0.962, TLI = 0.940, χ2(270) = 1576.12, p-value = 0.742. The total Cronbach's alpha (α) of the PoDLiS showed acceptable internal consistency, measuring at 0.742. High literacy was seen in married and young participants with a postgraduate degree and sufficient household income who have known someone with PPD. Significantly lower literacy was seen in male, non-Saudi participants and those residing in the central and northern regions of Saudi Arabia. Conclusions: The Arabic version of the PoDLiS showed good psychometric properties, and it can be used to assess PPD literacy among perinatal women and to examine the impact of PPD awareness programs. Despite reporting relatively good PPD literacy in the Saudi population, there is a persistent gap in participants' beliefs about available professional help and the attitudes that facilitate recognizing PPD. Our findings highlight the importance of implementing public education campaigns to improve overall knowledge about PPD and promote prevention, early recognition, and treatment of PPD. Botulism is a rare disease, and infant botulism (IB) even rarer, especially when steering the condition to honey consumption. IB is considered a life-threatening disease as it leads to severe neurological symptoms. Exploring the knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) among mothers on the relationship between honey and IB will help public health professionals implement appropriate maternal health education materials targeting infant health and increase the awareness of the paediatric primary care providers, physicians, and nurse practitioners about the risk of IB among their patients. To determine the knowledge of mothers from Hail city in Saudi Arabia (SA) regarding IB and assess their attitude and practice towards feeding honey to their infants before 12 months of age. Using a comparative cross-sectional study, in February 2022, we broadcasted an online questionnaire through social networking and evaluated the KAP of 385 mothers. Less than half (48%) of the mothers have heard about IB, 40% of them knew the relation between honey ingestion and IB and only 6.5% acknowledged that they knew the causative agent for IB. The prevalence of feeding honey to infants before 12 months was 52%. Mothers from Hail city were less likely to provide honey to their infants (p = 0.002). The study revealed that mothers from Hail city have relatively low knowledge of IB and that they hold favourable perceptions of using honey as a food supplement and feeding honey to their infants before 12 months. Considering the high prevalence of honey feeding with the known low incidence of IB in SA, Medical professionals should consider IB in their differential diagnosis particularly in the presence of neurological symptoms. Introduction: The utilisation of telemedicine has been rapidly growing among patients with rheumatic diseases, especially following the corona virus disease 2019 pandemic. Ease and convenience appear to dominate the reasons for this growth. However, the effects of this approach in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) are yet to be revealed. In this study, we examined the effect of telemedicine on disease activity assessment and damage scores in patients with SLE. Methods: This case-crossover study was nested within a national prospective cohort of patients with SLE in Saudi Arabia. Patients with SLE were included if they fulfilled the Systemic Lupus International Collaborating Clinics classification criteria between March 2020 and March 2021 and were assessed at three time points with 3 months between assessments, according to the standardised protocol of this cohort. Telemedicine was conducted for the first evaluation, while in-person assessments were used at the second and third visits. The primary outcome was the difference in the SLE disease activity index 2000 (SLEDAI-2K) score. The primary analysis was conducted using the repeated measure model and adjusted for potential confounders, including demographics, medications, and changes in steroid doses. Several sensitivity analyses were conducted to mitigate selection and time-varying confounders. Results: A total of 92 participants were included in this study. Most patients were females (88%), with a mean (±standard deviation [SD]) age of 36 (±13) years. The mean (±SD) disease activity scores at baseline were as follows: SLEDAI-2K, 5 (±5); SLE responder index, 3.8 (±3.5); Systemic Lupus International Collaborating Clinics/American College of Rheumatology damage index, 1 (±1). The mean difference in SLEDAI-2K score was −1.641 (95% confidence interval −2.773 to −0.510, p = 0.005*) between telemedicine and follow-up visits. The results were consistent in all sensitivity analyses. Conclusion: We found that telemedicine assessment was associated with a much higher disease activity score than subsequent assessments, which may suggest an overestimation of disease activity and later assessment accuracy. Background: The incidence of stroke is increasing in everyday life as a result of modifiable cerebrovascular risk factors and aging. Therefore, the goal of this study was to assess knowledge of the risk factors, and warning signs, of stroke and to determine associated demographic factors among individuals living in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.Methods and Materials: A cross-sectional online study using a convenience sampling of general population living in Riyadh was carried out over three months in 2023 using a series of questionnaires that was adopted from the previous study. Before data collection, the study tool was subjected to pilot testing among a small sample of individuals to validate for consistency and reliability. The data was collected using social media platforms. A statistical package for the social science (SPSS version 27) was used.Results: Four hundred and sixty-two individuals completed the survey. Among those 69.5%, identified hypertension as a risk factor for stroke followed by hyperlipidemia (42.9%), heart disease (44.8%). In addition, most of the respondents (n = 332, 71.9%) knew that numbness or weakness of the face and/or limbs of the body was a warning sign of stroke. In this, 73.5% (n=249) of the respondents agreed that if they saw an individual suffering from a stroke, they would like to take the patient to the hospital immediately. However, there was a significant association between the knowledge of the respondents about the risk factor of stroke and educational degree (p=0.011), and parents working in healthcare settings (p =0.015).Conclusion: In conclusion it was observed that a significant respondents had an adequate knowledge of stroke risk factors, while most were unaware of the early warning signs of a stroke. To promote primary prevention and early management/outcomes, we advise that future regional campaigns focus on raising knowledge and recognition of stroke symptoms. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

BACKGROUND: Dentistry is a profession that demands a high level of physical work and excessive repetitive movements in strained positions, both of which are risk factors for developing musculoskeletal pain (MS-P). OBJECTIVE: This study aims to assess the awareness of ergonomics and physical activities in controlling MS-P among dental students. METHODS: A cross-sectional study conducted at a university dental hospital in Saudi Arabia, through a validated self-administered questionnaire, distributed to undergraduates and postgraduate's dental students. RESULTS: Out of 402 students responded to the questionnaire, 337(83.8%) reported suffering from MS-P with 67.7% of participants did not take any measures to alleviate their symptoms and the majority reported limited physical activity. Females reported significantly higher MS-P than males. Lower back (56.5%), neck (56.2%) and shoulder (50%) were the most frequently reported MS-P. Unexpectedly, undergraduate reporting significantly more pain than interns and postgraduate students (P = 0.009). The dental students' awareness of ergonomics and MSDs were insufficient. CONCLUSION: Physical activity, student's awareness of MSD and ergonomics were the major factors for controlling MS-Ps. Therefore, this study highlights the importance of enhancing students' knowledge of the importance of controlling work-related MS-P, especially during their university educational hours. (1) Background and Objectives: Pneumonia is a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, including in Saudi Arabia, and the prevalence and etiology of the disease varies depending on the setting. The development of effective strategies can help reduce the adverse impact of this disease. Therefore, this systematic review was conducted to explore the prevalence and etiology of community-acquired and hospital-acquired pneumonia in Saudi Arabia, as well as their antimicrobial susceptibility. (2) Materials and Methods: The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) 2020 recommendations were followed for this systematic review. Several databases were used to perform a thorough literature search, and papers were then assessed for eligibility by two independent reviewers. The Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) was used to extract the data from the relevant research and evaluate its quality. (3) Results: This systematic review included 28 studies that highlighted the fact that gram-negative bacteria, particularly Acinetobacter spp. and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, were the common cause of hospital-acquired pneumonia, while Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus spp. were responsible for community-acquired pneumonia in children. The study also found that bacterial isolates responsible for pneumonia showed high resistance rates against several antibiotics, including cephalosporins and carbapenems. (4) Conclusions: In conclusion, the study found that different bacteria are responsible for community- and hospital-acquired pneumonia in Saudi Arabia. Antibiotic resistance rates were high for several commonly used antibiotics, highlighting the need for rational antibiotic use to prevent further resistance. Moreover, there is a need to conduct more regular multicenter studies to assess etiology, resistance, and susceptibility patterns of pneumonia-causing pathogens in Saudi Arabia. This study aimed to translate the scale into Arabic (EPInfant-Ar) and test its psychometric properties. The revised version was tested for face and content validity. Oxygen saturation, heart rate (HR), and ratings of perceived exertion were measured during a 3-minute step test with a sample of 93 children. PE and HR were examined using the Pearson correlation coefficient (r) to assess the concurrent validity. Internal consistency and test-retest reliability were calculated using Cronbach's alpha (α), intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC2,1), and r coefficient. A minimum detectable change with 95% confidence interval (MDC95) and percentage of change (MDC%) was also measured. Content validity showed an excellent level of expert agreement. There was a moderate correlation between PE rated by the scale and HR (r = 0.47, p <.001). The internal consistency and test-retest reliability were acceptable (α = 0.89; ICC2,1= 0.81; 95%Cl: 0.71–0.87, r = 0.81) with low measurement error (MDC95 = 2.66 and MDC% = 61.10%). It has been estimated that future generations may live shorter due to a rise in chronic diseases such as lower respiratory disease, obesity, cancer, cardiovascular disease (CVD), diabetes, and stroke. This research aims to determine the emergence of the primary chronic disease and its determinants specifically in Hail region, Saudi Arabia. The researchers employed retrospective-correlational approach conducted at the government subsidized hospitals. Data were collected from year 2017-2021. Results showed that the top five chronic diseases in the Hail region includes; diabetes mellitus (DM), pneumonia, hypertension, chronic obstructive diseases (COPD), and cardiovascular diseases. The age (t= -0.8748; p < 0.001), the civil status (t= 2.3123; P> 0.000), and gender (t= 2.5121; p> 0.000) have significant association to chronic diseases. The result of the current study implicates that addressing the variables that put individuals at risk for developing chronic diseases requires the participation of diverse sectors. Background: Pregnant women can get infected with COVID-19 with serious sequelae to them and their fetus. Concerns about COVID-19 vaccination safety to mothers and babies, and doubts about its effectiveness, have hindered vaccine acceptance throughout the COVID-19 crisis. The objective of the current investigation was to estimate COVID-19 acceptance rates among pregnant women in Abha city, Aseer region, Saudi Arabia, and determine its clinical and demographic correlates. Method: Descriptive questionnaire-based cross-sectional survey of a sample of pregnant women attending regular antenatal care services in Abha. We used backward stepwise multiple logistic regression analysis to evaluate the predictability of vaccine acceptance in terms of baseline clinical and demographic factors. Results: The survey included 572 pregnant women. The prevalence of acceptance of COVID-19 vaccine was high (93.7%; 95%CI: 91.7–95.7%). University graduates and women with a later gestational age were more likely to accept vaccination (OR = 6.120, p = 0.009), (t = 2.163, p = 0.036), respectively. Confidence in vaccine safety was associated with better acceptance (OR = 3.431, p = 0.001). Conclusions: The acceptance rate for vaccination among pregnant women in Abha, Saudi Arabia, is higher compared to international rate. However, our results indicate that confidence in vaccine safety was associated with better acceptance. Hence, vaccine safety was the overarching predictor for harboring positive attitudes towards it. Public health policies should capitalize on such positive attitudes and aim for total coverage of pregnant women with COVID-19 vaccination including booster dosages. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Oral health literacy was recognized as important to encouraging oral health and avoiding oral health diseases. It is recognized that socioeconomic conditions are also influential factors in oral health. Therefore, oral health is an important part of individuals' quality of life and general health. Objectives: This study was conducted to assess oral health literacy (OHL) and oral health‐related quality of life (OHRQoL) among undergraduate students studying at university. Methods: A prospective cross‐sectional study was carried out from November to February 2023 among the students of King Khalid University. OHL and OHRQoL were assessed using a Rapid estimate of adult literacy in dentistry‐30 (REALD‐30) and oral health impact profile (OHIP‐14). Further, Pearson's correlation tests were used to measure the correlation between REALD‐30 and OHIP‐14. Results: Among the 394 completed respondents, the majority were aged >20 years (n = 221; 56.09%), aged <20 years (n = 173; 43.91%), female (n = 324; 82.23%) and male (n = 70; 17.7%). Participants from health‐related colleges were (n = 343; 87.06%), and other colleges were (n = 51; 12.94%) *p <.04. Participants brushing frequency once daily were (n = 165; 41.88%) twice or more per day (n = 229; 58.12%) *p <.018. The overall mean REALD‐30 score of the participants was 11.76 ± 0.17 indicating low OHL. The higher mean score of OHIP‐14 for the following domains physical pain 12.93 ± 0.56, physical disability 12.05 ± 0.72 and psychological disability 12.71 ± 0.76. Oral health impact profile‐14 and REALD showed a positive correlation for health‐related colleges (r =.314; *p <.002) and other colleges (r =.09; p <.072). However, a significant correlation was observed between REALD‐30 and OHIP‐14 scores among health‐related colleges (p <.05). The current study concluded that self‐rated poor oral health is significantly linked with OHIP‐14 scores. Furthermore, systematic health education programs such as regular dental check‐ups for college students must be arranged to assist in changing the student's everyday life and oral health behaviours. A cross-sectional study was conducted between March and August 2021; an electronic survey was administered to all dermatology residents (n=79) in all centers with the Saudi Board Dermatology Training Program in the western, eastern and southern regions. Participation was voluntary, and written informed consent was obtained before the study. The survey was completed by 70 dermatology residents, for an 88.61% response rate. All the participants were aware of the study’s aims, and their informed consent was obtained. The study design complied with the Declaration of Helsinki ethical standards and was approved by the Institutional Review Board at Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University in Saudi Arabia. A total of 70 respondents completed the questionnaire. High emotional exhaustion (EE) was present in 47.1% of respondents, low personal accomplishment (PA) was present in 65.7%, and high depersonalization (DP) was the least prevalent (24.3%) across all burnout dimensions of dermatology residents. Overall burnout was present in 21.4% of the dermatology residents. Multivariate analysis showed that the odds of EE were significantly lower in males than females [odds ratio (OR)=0.2, P=0.016] and the higher number of patients seen per clinic (OR=1.09, P=0.032) was associated with higher odds of having a high risk of EE, while higher satisfaction with work-life balance was associated with lower odds of a high risk of EE (OR=0.47, P=0.005). A higher number of study hours/week was associated with lower odds of low PA (OR=0.95, P=0.02). Similarly, higher satisfaction with career was associated with lower odds of low PA (OR=0.35, P=0.042). Multivariate analysis showed that only exercise (OR=0.21, P=0.05) and satisfaction with work-life balance (OR=0.42, P=0.008) were associated with a lower risk of burnout. Our study adds the burnout rates among dermatology residents in Saudi Arabia, in addition to possible risk factors that can predict burnout, to the literature. Inconsistent evidence exists regarding the association of grand multiparity with adverse neonatal outcomes. This study aims to compare specific adverse outcomes in grand multiparas (those with five or more births at twenty or more weeks of gestation, regardless of fetal outcome) compared to those with lower parity (those with less than five births at twenty or more weeks of gestation, regardless of fetal outcome). A retrospective cohort study was undertaken at the Maternity and Children Hospital in Ha'il region, Saudi Arabia. After calculating the required sample size, data were collected from consenting participants with a viable singleton delivery. Socio-demographic variables, select maternal characteristics, and adverse neonatal outcomes (admission to the neonatal intensive care unit, low birth weight, prematurity, and APGAR score less than 7 in the first 5 min) were compared between grand multiparas and women with lower parity. Two hundred ninety-four participants were recruited (ninety-eight grand multiparas and one hundred ninety-six of lower parity). There was a statistically significant difference between the two groups in relation to age, level of education, body mass index, and the occurrence of gestational diabetes. Out of the studied adverse neonatal outcomes after the adjustment for maternal age between the two groups, no statistically significant difference in the adverse neonatal outcomes was found between the two groups. Grand multiparity does not incur an additional risk of adverse neonatal outcomes compared to women of lower parity. Furthermore, increasing maternal age and comorbid conditions might have a more detrimental effect on neonatal outcomes than grand multiparity per se. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Promoting stem cell donation behaviors could be crucial in advancing stem cell-based treatment, research and improving public health in Saudi Arabia. Donation of stem cells can be considered an act of social welfare just like blood donation because stem-cell-based therapies are emerging as a hope for those suffering from chronic health conditions and/or terminal illnesses. Aim: This study aims at assessing levels of awareness about sources of stem-cells, donor organizations and predictors of stem cell donation behavior in target population. Methods: The study employed a cross-sectional online survey method. The study sample comprises 1325 educated Saudi people living in Ha'il city. The survey questionnaire collected data about respondents' demographic background, awareness about various sources of stem cells and stem-cell donor registries, willingness to donate stem cells, registration status and obstacles in stem cell donation registration. Percentages, Chi-square analysis and Odd Ratios were computed to analyze the data. Results: In this sample, (n = 696; 52%) were males and (n = 629; 48%) were females. Although (n = 1308; 98%) percent of respondents reported willingness to donate stem cell, less than one percent (n = 6; 0.5) were registered with Saudi Stem Cell Registry. Over 50% of respondents hold inaccurate perceptions about sources of stem cell. Odd Ratio (OR) values from binary logistic regression model identified four factors as significant predictors of non-registration status. These included (i) unaware about donor agencies and procedures (OR = 10.07; p < 0.05), (ii) unaware about possibility to donate stem cells (OR = 8.08; p < 0.05) (iii) concerns about impact on health (OR = 10.01; p < 0.05) and (iv) have health issues that does not permit donation (OR = 10.50; p < 0.05). Conclusion: Stem cell registrations can be enhanced through appropriate health education programs that focus on increasing awareness about donation procedures, trustworthy donor organizations and reducing people apprehensions related to donation.
