Teachers' proactive and reactive classroom management strategies are a significant component of teaching effectiveness. Teachers need to develop such strategies to structure a positive classroom environment. In addition, teachers' self-efficacy beliefs concerning their classroom management strategies are equally significant. This research aimed to identify the teachers' effective proactive and reactive classroom management strategies. It also sought to investigate the obstacles that inhibit proactive classroom management use and identify the association between teachers' self-efficacy and classroom management practices. The research adopted a mixed-methods paradigm, consisting of two tools: a questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. The sampling included 80 Saudi teachers of English as a foreign language (EFL) participated in the survey and eight teachers participated in the interviews. The results showed that EFL teachers find proactive classroom management strategies more effective than reactive strategies. In addition, there was a difference between novice and experienced teachers' effective classroom management strategies, in which experienced teachers found proactive strategies more effective. The findings also indicated that there are four types of obstacles that hinder proactive classroom management strategies. System-related obstacles (subject-centered curriculum and institutional rules), system/teacher related obstacles (institutional rules and teachers' predispositions concerning e-tools), teacher-related obstacles (lack of understanding of the discipline plan), and student-related obstacles (unmotivated students). The final finding cited the positive association between teachers' high self-efficacy and proactive classroom management application.

Developing a writer's voice is a challenging task for second-language writers who are new not only to the culture but also to the values associated with the target language. This study aims at exploring the writer's voice of Arabic-speaking learners who study English as a Second Language. The study mainly discusses the following question: Do L2 learners who learn to write in both first and second language have an individual, collective, or depersonalized voice? Investigating the impact of culture and society on language and identity will facilitate the discovery of voice in second language writing. Methodologically, the study employs a qualitative research design in which data are collected via a discourse analysis of written texts. The analysis of the data adopted the holistic and dynamic perspective (Zhang & Zhan, 2020) by examining the various factors affecting Arabic-speaking learners of ESL including cultural factors, linguistic resources, and educational/academic pedagogy. Moreover, the study followed the analysis of the writer's voice proposed by Lehman (2018) and used further Lehman and Anderson's study of voice in academic writing (Lehman & Anderson, 2021). Lehman proposed three main topics to classify the writer's voice: (a) individual, (b) collective, and (c) depersonalized. The findings of this research showed that approximately 55.96% of the voice of Arab learners of ESL fell in the individual category, 29.97% fell in the collective category, and 14.07% fell in the depersonalized category.

Purpose: This study examines the perceptions of human resource (HR) professionals regarding the use of micro-credentials in the job market. The research explores the role of micro-credentials as emerging credentials in job requirements, continuing education, soft skills acquisition, job application evaluation (JAE) processes, qualification preferences in recruitment, salary/pay scale determination and promotional opportunities. Design/methodology/approach: A quantitative research methodology was used to collect data through questionnaires distributed to 124 HR professionals. Findings: The study finds that HR professionals recognize the value of micro-credentials in enhancing a candidate's resume and aligning with their career objectives, as they offer personalized skill-building opportunities. However, some recruiters question the legitimacy of micro-credentials, perceiving them as informal and questioning their practical transferability. Originality/value: This study highlights the importance for HR professionals to remain updated on emerging trends, adapt to the changing dynamics of the professional workforce and incorporate this into their recruitment and promotion policies. It also emphasizes the need for further investigation into the legitimacy of micro-credentials and their impact on the job market and presents the potential benefits of their integration into HR practices.

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted education in Saudi Arabia. During this crisis, in 2020-2021, public schools in Saudi Arabia began to fully exploit the possibilities of e-learning for the first time by launching the Madrasati Platform. This study aims to investigate the attitudes of Saudi public-school teachers towards e-learning and their views concerning its advantages and disadvantages. A quantitative method involving the use of a Google Form questionnaire was employed. The study collected responses from 202 public-school English teachers from different regions in Saudi Arabia. The results show that the teachers generally had neutral attitudes towards e-learning, positive views of its advantages, and neutral opinions about its disadvantages. The researcher recommends that more studies explore teachers' attitudes in different fields and the advantages and disadvantages of e-learning in each region of Saudi Arabia. The results of this research are important for both teachers and educational stakeholders in Saudi Arabia in terms of further developing the e-learning process in the future.

This research explores the sense of self-efficacy among Saudi English majors at Jeddah University during the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced all schools in Saudi Arabia to suspend face-to-face learning and, instead, use the online Blackboard platform. The study's objectives are to determine Blackboard's effect on Saudi learners' self-efficacy beliefs, identify factors influencing these beliefs in the online context, and determine the relationship between self-efficacy beliefs and academic performance. Phone interviews, an online questionnaire, and online performance tests served as data collection instruments. The results indicate that urgent Blackboard use negatively affected the subjects' self-efficacy beliefs, and there is a positive, significant relationship between academic performance and perceived self-efficacy. Among other factors, familiarity with Blackboard, technical competence, and a readiness to embrace technology strongly influenced the students' self-efficacy beliefs. This paper also presents implications and pedagogical recommendations drawn from the results.

The aim of this study was to investigate the applicability of Internet Reciprocal Teaching (IRT) for remedial English reading instruction in the EFL context, specifically for the purpose of overcoming the reading difficulties encountered by low-achieving Saudi students majoring in English at the University of Jeddah. The treatment phase lasted three months and, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting shift to online teaching, the instruments used were an online pre- and post-test of reading comprehension, an IRT dialogue rubric downloaded on the Blackboard platform that is used for online teaching, as well as a phone interview conducted with randomly selected students from the sample. The findings indicated significant improvements in the reading comprehension of the Saudi learners participating this study, as reflected in the students' effective use of the different IRT strategies and the significant results of the post-test. However, despite the proved effectiveness of IRT in strengthening reading comprehension, some challenges were voiced by the participants. These include computer competency, familiarity with online courses and, most notably, their linguistic difficulties with English, which justified their resorting to their native language (Arabic) as one way of demonstrating their comprehension. Finally, the paper draws pedagogical implications from the research results.

The researchers investigated how teachers perceive the inclusion of deaf and hard of hearing (D/hh) students in mainstream classrooms in Saudi Arabia. They also examined how teachers' perception of this inclusion is influenced by their position (as a teacher in special or mainstream education). The researchers collected 196 teacher responses using an existing online survey (partly open-ended). They found that, overall, teachers in Saudi Arabia had slightly negative perceptions of teaching D/hh students in mainstream classrooms. But their teaching position did not seem to influence their perceptions. The researchers recommend that efforts be made to reduce negative perceptions of inclusion as a teaching practice in Saudi Arabia. Teachers working with D/hh children in mainstream schools should receive enough training to work successfully with these students. Awareness should be raised of inclusion's benefits and how inclusion differs from mainstream education.

English is now the most frequently used language worldwide. In academia, English has become "a hyper central language" millions of students are learning for various reasons. As such, pedagogists, academicians, and language teachers seek new tools and teaching methods to help English language learners reach high proficiency levels. The use of drama as a teaching/learning tool in English language classrooms is one proposed method, justifying this study to investigate the effects of teaching English language through drama, thus deciphering the advantages of this experience and possible challenges it may pose. Data was gathered via an English language test and classroom observations. Results showed that the use of drama develops participants' language skills, especially the communicative ones such as interactions and conversations, and yields higher proficiency levels as it motivates them to become more engaged in the learning process. These participants also displayed more responsibility and self-reliance; thus, much learning took place. These results confirmed the general claim that introducing drama activities in language classrooms positively supports language acquisition. However, introduction of such a tool presented a few challenges as well, such as the learners' problems of L1 interference, embarrassment, and inhibition, as well as issues related to the unpredictable and open-ended nature of drama. This paper presents more implications of the findings that necessitate further research to gain a more comprehensive account of drama use in language classrooms and thus overcome the challenges presented.

BACKGROUND: The current study was conducted to assess the common lifestyle risk factors affecting the quality of life (QoL) among patients with chronic diseases. METHODS: This cross-sectional study was conducted using a valid structured questionnaire among 734 patients with chronic diseases. Patients were randomly selected from five primary health care centers in Riyadh of Saudi Arabia during January to February 2024. The study survey included a checklist of socio-demographic and lifestyle variables; the Arabic short version of the World Health Organization QoL questionnaire was used. The SPSS (version 24) was used for data analysis. RESULTS: A total of 734 patients (14.7% males and 85.3% females) were included. The mean age of the patients was 48.54±19 years. The total QoL and its four domains mean scores were relatively high, with no statistically significant differences were found between males and females. Statistically significant reductions in the positive (good) QoL were found in patients with obesity; patients who using butter and animal fat in cooking; and patients who eating meals out > 3 times per week (OR 0.64 CI 95% (0.325-0.891)), (OR 0.21 CI 95% (0.031-0.754)), and (OR 0.42 CI 95% (0.112-0.851)) respectively. CONCLUSION: The current study shows high level (69.3%) of good QoL among patients with chronic diseases at the primary healthcare centers in Riyadh of Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, obesity, poor cooking practices, and eating meals outside-home are the main unhealthy lifestyle factors that impaired the level of the QoL among the studied population. Background: Depression poses a significant challenge globally, including in safety-critical industries such as aviation. In Saudi Arabia, where the aviation sector is rapidly expanding, pilots encounter unique stressors inherent to their profession. However, research on pilot mental health, particularly within the Saudi context, remains limited despite its critical role in flight safety. Methods: This cross-sectional survey was designed to estimate the self-reported prevalence of depression in a convenience sample of airline pilots in Saudi Arabia. Participants were recruited from various commercial airlines in Saudi Arabia. Recruitment efforts utilized targeted outreach on social media platforms, focusing on pilot forums and groups. The survey was administered online for accessibility and convenience. The structured questionnaire, developed through a literature review and expert consultation, comprises sections on demographic and professional characteristics, occupational information, health habits, and depression assessment via the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9). Results: This study enrolled 310 participants, with the largest cohort (34.8%, n = 108) falling within the 30–39 years age group, closely followed by individuals under 30 years (30.0%, n = 93). Males dominated the sex distribution (99.0%, n = 307). The mean PHQ-9 score was 8.2 ± 5.4. Notably, 40.6% (n = 126) of the participants had a score of 10 or higher, indicating the potential for moderate, moderate-severe, or severe depression. Multivariable binary logistic regression analysis revealed that pilots with 11–15 years of experience had greater odds of experiencing depression than did those with 0–10 years of experience did (odds ratio [OR]: 3.0, 95% confidence interval [CI]: [1.1–8.4], p = 0.04). Pilots with rest times exceeding 24 h had lower odds of depression than did those with rest times less than 1 h (OR: 0.3, 95% CI: [0.1–0.8], p = 0.02). Engaging in regular exercise was associated with reduced odds of depression (OR: 0.3, 95% CI: [0.2–0.5], p < 0.01), as was longer sleep duration (> 8 h) (OR: 0.2, 95% CI: [0.1–1.0], p = 0.04). Conclusion: Our study estimates the prevalence and severity of self-reported depressive symptoms among airline pilots in Saudi Arabia, surpassing global estimates. The identified factors, including lack of regular exercise, short sleep duration, and insufficient rest between flights, underscore the complex mental health challenges faced by pilots in this region. The present paper aims to examine the instructors' perceptions of learner-centered instruction and possible barriers to implementing this instructional method in teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) at the university level in the Saudi Arabian context. To do this, four questions were posed. The first question investigates instructors' perceptions of learner-centered instruction, and the second question examines the barriers that would face EFL instructors while implementing learner-centered instruction when teaching preparatory year students. The third and fourth questions are an attempt to investigate if there are any significant differences in instructors' perceptions at (a = 0.05) due to instructors' qualifications and years of experience. The researchers developed a 4-Likert scale questionnaire of two main parts: personal and professional-perceptions and barriers. The qualitative part includes an open-ended question for instructors to elaborate on possible barriers that would hinder implementing learner-centered instruction. The results of the first question indicated that instructors have a positive attitude toward learner-centered instruction. They believe that it is an effective way to enhance students' learning. The second question reveals that instructors agree with all the barriers that hinder the implementation of this instructional method except one item related to their attitudes which have been demonstrated as positive in their responses to the first question. The third and fourth questions revealed no significant differences in instructors' perceptions due to qualifications and years of experience which could be due to the institutional and educational context that haven't supported instructors' qualifications and years of experience.

Aim/Purpose: This paper investigates the educational gap between males and females caused by gender segregation in Saudi educational institutions and the role of Mobile Learning Technology (MLT) in bridging this gap through the emphasis on teaching practices, learning resources, and opportunities, as well as participation in campus life. Background: There is a gender gap over the access to educational opportunities and facilities raised by the segregation in educational institutions in Saudi Arabia. In Saudi society, school campuses have been always been restricted due to the cultural and social values of the native people. The practice of segregation extends across all social aspects of life including education. This has resulted in a gender preferred educational system that highly favors males over females in terms of teaching, learning opportunities, facilities, and resources, as well as the participation of activities on campus. This has become disadvantageous for female students because it has limited their equal access to learning opportunities, sometimes trained by less experienced instructors, and has led thus to an unfair academic performance. Methodology: An online surveying system was used with a population of all female students who are enrolled in 13 colleges located in Jeddah. The size of the population was 15,171 students. The sampling technique was probabilistic random in which only 300 questionnaires were received back, and only 187 out of 300 questionnaires were fully answered. The study is descriptive, and it used a quantitative survey method with a cross-sectional collected data. Contribution: This study supported instructors and higher education administrators in adopting MLT to overcome some cultural gaps caused due to segregation by adding literature on MLT contribution to the enhancement of higher education opportunities for women in Saudi Arabia. This study is the first of its kind in the context of Saudi Arabia to delve into the role of MLT in closing the gender gap through making an effective Saudi higher education system policy. Findings: There are some challenges experienced by Mobile Learning Technology to close the gap caused by gender segregation in the Saudi educational institutions in relation to some dimensions that include demographic data, teaching gap, content, educational opportunities, participation in campus life, and the use of mobile learning. Recommendations for Practitioners: This study recommends that the educators should consider the need to implement Mobile Learning Technology in the educational system of Saudi Arabia as a means of bridging the everlasting gap of gender separation, especially in schools, and also to empower female students to compete at the same level with their counterpart male students. Recommendation for Researchers: Further research is expected to focus on effective implementation in Mobile Learning in female campuses as well as government assistance of promoting Mobile Learning in both public and private schools of female campuses. Impact on Society: The study findings could be highly beneficial for understanding the problems that confront equality and transparency in education between male and female and how Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools could help guarantee equality in education. Future Research: Future studies could be extended to other areas of assisted online education tools. Furthermore, measures can be implemented to enhance transparency and equality between males and females in education, which could be associated with satisfaction levels for both sides.

This article reports a two-phase study with (1) an extended framework on mobile learning technology acceptance, and (2) a mixed-method research investigating college students on the use and embracement of mobile learning technology acceptance in Saudi Arabia. The research extended the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) framework with constructs particularly concerning mobile learning technology. The sequential mixed-method study investigated college students' mobile learning technology acceptance in Saudi Arabia, and also validated the extended framework with empirical data. A total of 1203 eligible college students, 591 male and 612 females, participated in the online survey, and 15 of them also participated in individual interviews afterward. A wide range of social media and social networking sites were used to recruit participants and collect data. The study found that variables like Learning Expectancy (LE), Effort Expectancy (EE), Social Influence (SI), and characteristics of mobile learning were significant predictors of students' intentions to use mobile learning technologies, regardless of the moderating effects of gender, age, and eLearning experience. Social influence was the only construct that was found as moderated by gender, where men showed a stronger behavioral intention to use mobile learning technology than women. Facilitating Conditions (FC) and Self-Management of Mobile Learning (SMML) in this study were not significant in predicting students' behavioral intention or their use behavior of mobile learning technology acceptance.

The increasing prevalence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in higher education underscores the necessity to explore its implications on ethical, social, and educational dynamics within the sector. This study aims to comprehensively investigate the impact of AI on higher education in Saudi Arabia, delving into stakeholders' attitudes, perceptions, and expectations regarding its implementation. The research hones in on key facets of AI in higher education, encompassing its influence on teaching and learning, ethical and social implications, and the anticipated role of AI in the future. Employing a quantitative approach through an online survey questionnaire (N = 1113), this study reveals positive attitudes toward AI in higher education. Stakeholders recognize its potential to enhance teaching and learning, streamline administration, and foster innovation. Emphasis is placed on ethical considerations and guidelines for AI implementation, highlighting the imperative need to address issues such as privacy, security, and bias. Participants envision a future characterized by personalized learning experiences, ethically integrated AI, collaboration, and ongoing support for lifelong learning. Furthermore, the results illuminate the intricate interplay between AI usage, purposes, difficulties, and their impact on attitudes, perceptions, and future implications. Accordingly, the research underscores the necessity for a comprehensive understanding of AI integration, considering not only its technical aspects but also the ethical, social, and educational dimensions. By acknowledging the role of AI uses, AI usage purposes, and addressing associated difficulties, educational stakeholders can work towards harnessing the benefits of AI while ensuring responsible and effective implementation in teaching and learning contexts. Background: A stroke, sometimes referred to as a brain attack, happens when a blood vessel in the brain breaks or when something stops the blood flow to a portion of the brain. Either way, the brain suffers damage or dies. Strokes can result in death, permanent brain damage, or long-term disability. A stroke is characterized by an abrupt stoppage of the blood flow to the brain. In order to help and improve the quality of life for senior stroke patients, care for stroke patients requires a thorough grasp of the many aspects involved in stroke management and the provision of interventions such as social, emotional, and psychological support. Aim of the study:To assess Competence of physiotherapist and nurses in stroke care pathways at Saudia Arabia based on their self-evaluation and identify the factors associated with competence. Research design: descriptive cross sectional research design was utilized to conduct this study. An electronic survey was sent to physiotherapists and nurses (n = 300) treating persons with stroke in Saudi Arabia between May and September 2024 in order to get the results. The RN-STROKE, PT-STROKE, and OT-STROKE instruments, which are based on a four-factor model, were used to assess competency in stroke care pathways. Exploratory factor analysis and Cronbach's alpha were used to verify the validity and reliability of the instruments. The data was analyzed using Kruskal-Wallis, Chi Square, Mann Whitney U, oneway ANOVA, and K-means clustering. The findings were presented as means, standard deviations, percentages, and frequencies. Finding: Results: There are four primary areas in which healthcare providers are proficient in stroke care pathways: (1) The ability to counsel and interact (2) proficiency with evidence-based knowledge; (3) proficiency with self-management and development; and (4) proficiency with multiprofessional collaboration. Three competency profiles of medical professionals involved in the stroke care pathway were then found by the study. Competence was rated at the highest level by professionals in Nurses a, average by those in Physotherpist, and lowest by those in Profile C. Competency profiles were shown to be related to the occupation of nurses and physotherabiest and their involvement in the expert network of their organization. Conclusion: Although healthcare workers' overall proficiency in the stroke care pathway was deemed good, there is room for improvement, particularly in their ability to apply evidence-based knowledge in clinical practice. Therefore, in order to facilitate the use of evidence-based information in clinical work, organizations should expand education and training in this area and provide sufficient resources. The current study aims to identify the impact of applying governance standards in improving the performance of health organizations through a case study of Riyadh hospitals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This study is a descriptive cross-sectional study using a questionnaire. The sample of the current study consisted of (357) employees in Riyadh hospitals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. To achieve the study objective, the researcher designed an electronic questionnaire to measure the impact of applying governance standards in improving the performance of health organizations. The validity and reliability of the study tool were also verified. The results of the study concluded that there is a strong correlation between the principles and standards of governance and improving performance in health organizations, and a strong correlation between administrative leadership and the application of governance standards, as well as a strong correlation between administrative leadership's adoption of governance standards and improving the performance of organizations. This shows that Riyadh hospitals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia possess the components that allow for activating the possibility of applying governance standards and thus improving performance, which is positively reflected in improving the level of health care. Introduction: Bleeding is the primary cause of preventable deaths in trauma cases, and the use of tourniquets greatly lowers mortality rates from extremity vascular injuries. This study seeks to evaluate the knowledge and preparedness of the general population in the Najran region of Saudi Arabia regarding bleeding control (BC), the factors influencing this, and their willingness to help trauma victims. Materials and Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional was executed among those who were aged 18 years and above and resided in Najran, Saudi Arabia, excluding those who refused to participate in the study, health-care workers, and students in the medical field. Conveniently, we distributed an online Arabic self-administered questionnaire through different social media platforms. The minimum calculated sample size was 576. One-way analysis of variance and two sample t -tests were used to evaluate the determinants of BC awareness. Results: About 702 participated in the study, with 80% of males and a median age of 26 (interquartile range: 22–36). Approximately 73.1% had a fair knowledge of BC. Having first-aid training and using health-care-related posters in malls/health-care facilities were linked to higher knowledge scores (P < 0.05). Awareness of the leading cause of preventable death (postaccident bleeding) (P = 0.012) was positively associated with higher knowledge scores. Regarding the willingness to assist trauma sufferers, the majority (57%) were very likely to help. About 46% consider tourniquets safe. Participants with previous first-aid training and male gender were more likely to express a willingness to use tourniquets (P < 0.001). Perceived lack of sufficient training (25.9%), apprehension about making mistakes (16.67%), and the belief that others might possess greater qualifications (16.52%) were the barriers frequently cited in addressing medical emergencies. Conclusion: This study reveals a notable awareness gap in BC among the general population in the Najran region of Saudi Arabia. Factors such as first-aid training and exposure to health-care-related posters were linked to higher knowledge scores. There is a significant willingness to assist trauma victims. Gender disparity in willingness to use tourniquets suggests that targeted educational interventions are needed. In light of the multitude of olive trees cultivated and the lack of the genetic diversity of available genotypes to select varieties and lines that are characterized by high diversity and better performance under the corresponding conditions, A comparison analysis of the genotyping and morphological characteristics of eight olive cultivars growing in Saudi Arabia's Al-Jouf region was conducted and analyzed. Morpho-anatomical and chemical characteristics along with both inter-simple-sequence repeats (ISSRs) and start-codon-targeted (SCoT) markers were used to evaluate the genetic diversity among eight olive varieties in Al-Jouf, Saudi Arabia. Analyses of 27 morphological, chemical, and anatomical characteristics concluded the existence of genetic differences among the studied varieties. Moreover, six ISSR and eight SCoT primer combinations produced a total of 48 loci, of which 18 (10 ISSR and 8 SCoT) were polymorphic. The average polymorphism information content (PIC values of 0.48 and 0.44, respectively) and marker index (MI of 0.79 and 0.48, respectively) detected for ISSR and SCoT markers revealed the prevalence of high genetic diversity among the studied olive varieties. Based on chemical and anatomical characteristics and the selected molecular markers, the eight olive cultivars were grouped into two distinct clusters. Clusters in the adjacent joint dendrogram produced using ISSR, SCoT and combined data were similar, and grouped all individuals into two groups. However, the dendrogram generated on the basis of SCoT separated individuals into subgroups containing at least two varieties. The findings showed that both methods were effective in assessing diversity, and that SCoT markers can be used as a reliable and informative method for assessing genetic diversity and relationships among olive varieties and can serve as a complementary tool to provide a more complete understanding of the genetic diversity available in Olea europaea populations in Saudi Arabia. Background: Self-efficacy is a popular psychological concept that refers to an individual's perception or belief in his ability to perform specific actions. This study aimed to assess the predictive value of self-efficacy, measured using the Self-Efficacy for Managing Chronic Disease 6-Item Scale (SEM6S) questionnaire, for diabetes management and overall well-being in patients with diabetes. Subject and methods: An anonymous online cross-sectional study was conducted to evaluate the self-efficacy of diabetic patients in the Asser region of Saudi Arabia. The participants were requested to upload their most recent glycated hemoglobin A1C (HbA1C) measurements taken in the last three months, which helped in the accurate categorization of their diabetes as either controlled or uncontrolled. We used the valid Arabic version of the SEM6S and WHO-5 wellbeing questionnaires to assess patient self-efficacy and well-being. Results: A cohort of 342 patients was enrolled in the study, 67.25% were married, their mean age was 43.17 ± 17.61 years, and 52.69% had university-level or higher education. Among the participants, 46.0% exhibited well-being, while 24.9% reported poor well-being, including 9.4% who were identified as experiencing depression. The mean scores of self-efficacy and well-being were significantly higher among those with controlled diabetes versus uncontrolled diabetes (40.86 ± 13.26 vs. 36.48 ± 13.26) and (67.35 ± 21.22 vs. 60.93 ± 25.05), respectively. The predictors of glycemic control were self-efficacy [Odds ratio (OR)=1.03 (95%CI, 1.01-1.06, P=0.002], having other chronic diseases [OR=3.25 (95%CI), P<0.001], having type 1 diabetes [OR=7.16, 95%CI, P=0.005], being Saudi [OR=7.67, (95%CI, P=0.027], working in a public sector [OR=0.15, (95%CI, 0.05-0.44), P=0.005], being unemployed [OR=0.19, (95%CI, 0.06-0.59), P=0.005], being a smoker [OR=0.44, 95%CI, 0.19-0.98, P=0.048], and duration of diabetes between 6-10 years [OR= 0.33, 95%CI, 0.11-0.95), P=0.043] or more than 10 years OR=0.32, 95%CI, 0.12-0.86), P=0.026]. The main determinants of well-being were having self-efficacy [OR=1.07 (95%CI, 1.04-1.09), P = 0.0001], having public health insurance [OR=4.36 (95%CI, P=0.015], and education level (read and write) [OR=0.13 (95%CI,.02-.70), P=0.021]. Conclusions: The study reveals that non-modifiable and modifiable factors, including self-efficacy, play a crucial role in diabetes control. The study recommends providing targeted educational interventions, using different social media platforms, psychosocial support programs, and inclusive healthcare policies to improve diabetes control and mental well-being among diabetic patients. Background: The illnesses associated with changes in barometric pressure can be classified into three types: acute mountain sickness, high-altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE), and high-altitude cerebral edema. HAPE is a rare form of pulmonary edema that occurs in susceptible individuals after arriving at altitudes over 2500 m above sea level (m). Only a few studies have reported classical HAPE among children with underlying cardiopulmonary comorbidities. In this study, we report two pediatric cases of classical HAPE that occurred immediately upon arriving at Abha city (with an average elevation of 2270 m above sea level). Notably, both patients possessed underlying chronic lung diseases, raising crucial questions about susceptibility factors and the early onset manifestations of HAPE. Case: Two pediatric cases of HAPE are presented. The first patient, with a medical history of repaired right congenital diaphragmatic hernia and subsequent right lung hypoplasia, developed HAPE following their ascent to a high altitude. The second patient, diagnosed with diffuse lung disease of unknown etiology, experienced HAPE after a rapid high-altitude ascent. Both patients resided in low-altitude areas prior to ascent. The initial emergency room assessment revealed that both patients had severe hypoxia with respiratory distress that mandated the initiation of respiratory support and 100% oxygen therapy. They required intensive care unit admission, improved after 5 days of hospitalization, and were sent home in good condition. Conclusion: HAPE is a complex, potentially life-threatening high-altitude illness with diverse clinical presentations and variable risk factors. This case report sheds light on a potential predisposition factor—pre-existing lung disease—in children experiencing severe HAPE. While further validation is crucial, this valuable insight opens doors for improved preventative strategies and informed medical decisions for children with pre-existing lung conditions traveling to high altitudes. Introduction: Coronavirus Disease-2019 (COVID-19) caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) emerged as a global pandemic in late 2019, quickly affecting millions worldwide. It presents with a range of symptoms, from mild respiratory issues to severe cases requiring hospitalisation. The disease's long-term effects, especially cognitive impairments post-recovery, remain an area of active research and concern. Aim: To assess the prevalence and severity of cognitive impairments, including memory loss, attention deficits, and executive function disorders, in individuals who have recovered from COVID-19 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted from May to August 2023 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, involving 539 participants confirmed to have recovered from COVID-19 via Reverse Transcriptase Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests. Cognitive impairments, including memory loss, attention deficits, and executive function disorders were assessed. Data were analysed using IBM Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 22.0 Chi-square tests and T-tests were utilised to examine the statistical significance of differences between recovered individuals and controls. Results: The study identified significant memory changes in 211 (39.15%) of post-COVID-19 patients, with specific challenges including difficulty recalling names/faces in 146 (27.09%), reduced attention span in 45 (8.35%), and verbal communication issues in 145 (26.9%) study subjects. Demographically, females (n=134, 24.86%) and individuals aged 21-30 reported higher rates of memory impairments compared to males (n=77, 14.29%) or other age groups, challenging prior assumptions about cognitive recovery and age. Further, patients with brain injuries and mental health conditions experienced exacerbated memory issues, underscoring the need for thorough patient assessments. Despite the considerable impact on daily activities reported by 111 (20.59%) of participants, only 17 (3.15%) sought medical help for these memory concerns. The findings highlight the prevalence of memory impairments among Saudi post-COVID-19 patients and call for increased healthcare interventions to manage these long-term cognitive effects. Conclusion: The study conclusively demonstrated that post-COVID-19 memory impairment was prevalent among recovered patients in Saudi Arabia, with significant variations by age, gender, and medical history. This underscored the critical need for healthcare providers to have enhanced awareness and to have developed targeted support services to effectively address and manage the long-term cognitive consequences of COVID-19. Klebsiella pneumoniae (K. pneumoniae) is a member of the ESKAPE group and is responsible for severe community and healthcare-associated infections. Certain Klebsiella species have very similar phenotypes, which presents a challenge in identifying K. pneumoniae. Multidrug-resistant K. pneumoniae is also a serious global problem that needs to be addressed. A total of 190 isolates were isolated from urine (n = 69), respiratory (n = 52), wound (n = 48) and blood (n = 21) samples collected from various hospitals in the Al-Qassim, Saudi Arabia, between March 2021 and October 2022. Our study aimed to rapidly and accurately detect K. pneumoniae using the Peptide Mass Fingerprinting (PMF) technique, confirmed by real-time PCR. Additionally, screening for antibiotic susceptibility and resistance was conducted. The primary methods for identifying K. pneumoniae isolates were culture, Gram staining, and the Vitek® 2 ID Compact system. An automated MALDI Biotyper (MBT) instrument was used for proteome identification, which was subsequently confirmed using SYBR green real-time polymerase chain reaction (real-time PCR) and microfluidic electrophoresis assays. Vitek® 2 AST-GN66 cards were utilized to evaluate the antimicrobial sensitivity of K. pneumoniae isolates. According to our results, Vitek® 2 Compact accurately identified 178 out of 190 (93.68%) K. pneumoniae isolates, while the PMF technique correctly detected 188 out of 190 (98.95%) isolates with a score value of 2.00 or higher. Principal component analysis was conducted using MBT Compass software to classify K. pneumoniae isolates based on their structure. Based on the analysis of the single peak intensities generated by MBT, the highest peak values were found at 3444, 5022, 5525, 6847, and 7537 m/z. K. pneumoniae gene testing confirmed the PMF results, with 90.53% detecting entrobactin, 70% detecting 16 S rRNA, and 32.63% detecting ferric iron uptake. The resistance of the K. pneumoniae isolates to antibiotics was as follows: 64.75% for cefazolin, 62.63% for trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole, 59.45% for ampicillin, 58.42% for cefoxitin, 57.37% for ceftriaxone, 53.68% for cefepime, 52.11% for ampicillin-sulbactam, 50.53% for ceftazidime, 52.11% for ertapenem, and 49.47% for imipenem. Based on the results of the double-disk synergy test, 93 out of 190 (48.95%) K. pneumoniae isolates were extended-spectrum beta-lactamase. In conclusion, PMF is a powerful analytical technique used to identify K. pneumoniae isolates from clinical samples based on their proteomic characteristics. K. pneumoniae isolates have shown increasing resistance to antibiotics from different classes, including carbapenem, which poses a significant threat to human health as these infections may become difficult to treat. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the patient's satisfaction and expectations post-hallux valgus (HV) surgery. Methods: A survey-based, cross-sectional study was conducted among patients who had undergone HV surgery (Lapidus procedure) at a university hospital in Riyadh; from January 2020 to December 2022. The participants were interviewed by telephone in December 2022. The questionnaire was divided into two parts. The first part demonstrates patient's personal data, and the second part focuses mainly on patient expectations and satisfaction. Results: A total of 28 patients who underwent corrective surgery for HV were included. Patients' ages ranged from 18 to 59 years. Around 60.7% of patients had high expectations before the surgery. Where 53.6% reported that they faced no problems after the operation, while 46.4% reported that they had problems after surgery such as pain, stiffness, nonunion or recurrent deformity. When patients were asked to describe their original foot condition since treatment, 39.3% showed a much better case, 32.1% said it was better, 17.9% said it was the same, and 10.7% showed deterioration. A total of 14 (50%) cases were satisfied regarding surgery output, 5 (17.9%) showed some satisfaction or uncompleted treatment and 9 (32.1%) were unsatisfied. Conclusion: It was concluded that 67.9% of the patient satisfaction was related to improvement after the surgery. Due to the level of education, gender, and patients' high expectations before surgery; it is recommended to conduct multiple research on this topic and increase the data and variables. Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) exhibits diverse manifestations influenced by demographic factors. This study evaluates these variations within Saudi Arabia, aiming to investigate language, speech and behaviour characteristics across different demographics in Saudi Arabia using the Arabic Version of the Gilliam Autism Rating Scale—Third Edition (A-GARS-3). Employing a cross-sectional design, 178 participants were stratified by developmental status (n = 124 school settings, n = 54 clinical setting), sex (Females = 77, Males =101), age (range = 3–22), and geographical region (different provinces in Saudi Arabia). The A-GARS-3 measured ASD manifestations across six subscales. The study identified significant differences in ASD manifestations by developmental status, with higher ASD likelihood and severity in clinical settings. Younger children showed more pronounced ASD characteristics, and males were slightly more likely to be diagnosed with ASD. Geographical analysis revealed regional differences in severity. The findings underline the importance of demographic considerations in ASD assessment and diagnosis, suggesting the need for age-specific and culturally sensitive approaches. The A-GARS-3 is a reliable tool for the Saudi context. Regional disparities in ASD prevalence and severity indicate a need for tailored health policies and resources across Saudi provinces. In this cross-sectional study, we investigated the prevalence of smoking among medical residents. In addition, we explored the knowledge, risk factors, and cessation attempts related to smoking. This was a cross-sectional study conducted through an online questionnaire in Saudi Arabia from November 2020 to December 2020. All resident physicians in Saudi Arabia were eligible to participate in the study. This study used a convenience sample to recruit the study population. The questionnaire was distributed data among residents via google forms. The forms were sent to residents’ emails that are registered in the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties Fagerstrom Test for Nicotine Dependence and Lebanon Waterpipe Dependence Scale (LWDS-11) were used in this study. Chi-square comparison of categorical data, ANOVA to compare means of continuous variables were used. Multivariate logistic regression was conducted to verify demographic, lifestyle, work-related factors' effect on smoking habit using FTND and/or LWDS-11 scales. A p-value ≤ 0.05 was considered statistically significant. A total of 457 medical residents have participated in this study. Of the 157 participants who reported that they are current smokers, 47.7% reported that they smoke cigarettes. 75.2% of the study sample reported they smoke during working hours. The most commonly reported reasons for starting smoking were to relieve stress and anxiety and/or that it was started as with a trial then continued with 47.1% and 36.9%, respectively. The mean FTND score for the study participants was 0.63 (SD: 1.8). Using multiple linear regression analysis, we found that, older age was associated with having a higher FTND score (p=0.009). Male residents were more likely to have higher FTND scores compared to females (p< 0.001). This study demonstrates that smoking habit is not uncommon among medical residents, despite their perceived social image and role in smoking prevention and cessation. Background: Nursing students constitute the future nursing workforce; their knowledge can readily influence potential donors' decisions on organ donation. This study aimed to assess nursing students' knowledge of organ donation, determine its impact on their attitude, and identify relevant factors. Methods: A cross-sectional comparative study assessed the level of knowledge and attitude toward organ donation among nursing students using the following two questionnaires: (1) knowledge about organ donation and (2) attitudes toward posthumous organ donation. Non-probability convenience sampling was employed to collect data. Results: A total of 278 nursing students demonstrated a low level of knowledge on organ donation, with a score of 6.43 out of 15. This influenced their attitude toward organ donation (χ2 (3) = 33.91, p < 0.001). Nursing students who were willing to donate their organs showed higher knowledge (7.33 ± 3.23) compared to those who were not willing to donate their organs (5.21 ± 3.09), p < 0.001. Registered donors had higher knowledge (8.52 ± 2.99) than non-donors (5.80 ± 3.17), p < 0.001. Conclusions: Even though nursing students typically favor organ donation, findings have revealed a low knowledge score. Therefore, it is necessary to improve knowledge of organ donation through nursing curricula and research, which could potentially increase the number of donors among future nursing students and, by extension, the broader population. (1) Background and Objectives: Pneumonia is a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, including in Saudi Arabia, and the prevalence and etiology of the disease varies depending on the setting. The development of effective strategies can help reduce the adverse impact of this disease. Therefore, this systematic review was conducted to explore the prevalence and etiology of community-acquired and hospital-acquired pneumonia in Saudi Arabia, as well as their antimicrobial susceptibility. (2) Materials and Methods: The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) 2020 recommendations were followed for this systematic review. Several databases were used to perform a thorough literature search, and papers were then assessed for eligibility by two independent reviewers. The Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) was used to extract the data from the relevant research and evaluate its quality. (3) Results: This systematic review included 28 studies that highlighted the fact that gram-negative bacteria, particularly Acinetobacter spp. and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, were the common cause of hospital-acquired pneumonia, while Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus spp. were responsible for community-acquired pneumonia in children. The study also found that bacterial isolates responsible for pneumonia showed high resistance rates against several antibiotics, including cephalosporins and carbapenems. (4) Conclusions: In conclusion, the study found that different bacteria are responsible for community- and hospital-acquired pneumonia in Saudi Arabia. Antibiotic resistance rates were high for several commonly used antibiotics, highlighting the need for rational antibiotic use to prevent further resistance. Moreover, there is a need to conduct more regular multicenter studies to assess etiology, resistance, and susceptibility patterns of pneumonia-causing pathogens in Saudi Arabia. Purpose: Quality of life (QOL) among disabled children and their caregivers is an important concern in healthcare. We aim to evaluate the quality of life among caregivers of children with cerebral palsy and to observe the effects of various demographic factors and affected child-related factors on caregivers' quality of life.Patients and Methods: After ethical approval and written consent was obtained from the participants. One hundred six caregivers of children with cerebral palsy from the Asir region were recruited for the study. Caregivers provided details, including their demographic characteristics, social factors, and information regarding their affected children regarding age, gender, mobility levels, etc. They also completed the Arabic version of the World Health Organization Quality of Life-BREF (WHOQOL-BREF) questionnaire for assessing their QOL.Results: All the caregivers were women; their mean age was 40.38 years and SD7.09, and the overall QOL mean and standard deviations were 66.38 ± 12.88. There was a moderately significant correlation between total QOL in comparison with caregivers' educational level and mobility capacity, with R values of 0.54 (p< 0.001) and 0.62 (p< 0.001), respectively.Conclusion: All the subdomains of WHOQOL-BREF were found to be very closely related to the total scores for QOL. The caregivers of children with cerebral palsy had better QOL scores than the cutoff scores proposed in the WHOQOL-BREF scale. Background. The prevalence of Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) as a common complication among inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) has been reported to increase worldwide and has been associated with a poor IBD outcome. Objectives. In this study, our aim was to report on the prevalence of CDI among IBD vs. non-IBD patients in King Abdulaziz Medical City (KAMC). Methods. This retrospective descriptive study was carried out between 2016 and 2020. Data of 89 patients reported with CDI in KAMC were analyzed for demographics and correlations between various characteristics such as BMI, personal/family history of IBD, infection with CDI, diagnosis, method of diagnosis, and treatment modalities. Results. Of the total 89 CDI patients, 59 (66.3%) were adults and 30 (33.7%) were pediatric, of which 36 (40.4%) were females and 53 (59.6%) were males. PCR was the main method of choice for the diagnosis of CDI (89.9%) followed by a positive-culture result (10.0%). Seventy-eight (87.6%) CDI patients were found to be immunocompromised, with two patients diagnosed with IBDs, one with UC, and one with CD. The recurrence rate was 38.4 (30 patients) among the immunocompromised group in comparison to 27.2 (3 patients) in the immunocompetent group (p = 0.584). Conclusion. In this study, we found that adults were more prone to CDI infection, especially within hospital settings, and most of the CDI infections occurred in immunocompromised individuals, with cancer as the most common cause of it. The optimal stenting strategy for unprotected left main coronary artery (ULMCA) disease remains debated. This retrospective observational study (Gulf Left Main Registry) analyzed the outcomes of 1 vs 2 stents in patients with unprotected left main percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Overall, 1222 patients were evaluated; 173 had 1 stent and 1049 had 2 stents. The 2-stent group was older with more comorbidities, higher mean SYNTAX scores, and more distal bifurcation lesions. In the 1-stent group, in-hospital events were significant for major bleeding, and better mean creatinine clearance. At median follow-up of 20 months, the 1-stent group was more likely to have target lesion revascularization (TLR). Total mortality was numerically lower in the 1-stent group (.00% vs 2.10%); however, this was not statistically significant (P =.068). Our analysis demonstrates the benefits of a 2-stent approach for ULMCA patients with high SYNTAX scores and lesions in both major side branches, while the potential benefit of a 1-stent approach for less complex ULMCA was also observed. Background: Physical activity can improve health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in adults. However, the effect of physical activity on quality of life is unclear among the Saudi adult population. The study aimed to determine the association between physical activity and HRQoL in apparently healthy adults in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted among visitors of shopping malls, walking tracks/fitness centres/gyms and governmental hospitals in Jeddah from March to September 2022. Physical activity was measured with the electronic template of the general practice physical activity questionnaire (GPPAQ), while the HRQoL was measured using the 36-Item Short Form Survey (SF-36) questionnaire. A multiple linear regression model investigated the relationship between physical activity and HRQoL. Results: A total of 693 individuals participated in this study, with a mean age of 36 (±11). Individuals who fall in the active category of the physical activity level were mostly younger men (37% vs 21%), were non-smokers (30% vs 10%) and had no comorbid condition (29% vs 15%). After adjusting for covariates, men (adjusted ß 4.43, 95% CI [1.44-7.41]) with higher physical activity levels (active-adjusted ß 10.11, 95% CI [5.44-14.77]) had better scores on the physical component summary (PCS). Similarly, mental component summary (MCS) scores for men (adjusted ß 6.51, 95% CI [3.40-9.63]) and physical activity levels (active-adjusted ß 9.77, 95% CI [4.90-14.64]) were high. Conclusion: The article reinforces how physical activity contributes towards each dimension of HRQoL. Physical inactivity is a growing public health challenge in Saudi Arabia, affecting all age groups. Investing in innovative strategies and establishing targeted health education programs for academic institutions and communities are required to enhance healthy habits. Additionally, constructing more local sports facilities and concession packages, especially for the females at the gyms, can motivate individuals and promote physical activity. Background: Urinary parcel contamination (UTI) is thought to be related with expanded maternal and fetal grimness and mortality; consequently, a legitimate evaluation of information and practices is pivotal to figure out preventive techniques to guarantee the wellbeing of both the mother and the child. Methods: The study decided the information, disposition, rehearses (KAP), and the convictions of pregnant females about UTI in view of the Health Belief Model. Building information modelling (BIM) continues gaining popularity in engineering construction as it helps lower the life cycle cost and ensure sustainability. The primary aim of this study was to delve into the effectiveness of BIM implementation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) construction industry and understand the benefits, challenges, and risks associated with it. The present study has incorporated a qualitative and case study research design to investigate the effectiveness of BIM implementation. To this end, information was gathered through interviews involving BIM experts in the KSA, from which a thematic analysis was derived with the help of NVivo software. The results obtained highlight various benefits, challenges, and risks associated with the implementation of BIM tools, also covering the life cycle cost (LCC) and the procurement and type of contracts, initially referred to during the interviews, indicating that the importance of estimating the LCC in a project is crucial in the design phase, which also informs the decision making. In this case, 96.7% of the participants agreed with this view. Moreover, two case studies were analysed to further demonstrate the effectiveness of BIM adoption. Background: The foremost cause of children's (1–19 year) death is inadvertent injuries. While most of these accidental harms occur at home and school, rapid and suitable parental and teacher intervention is required to increase the chances of a child's survival. Therefore, both parents and teachers of the children in kindergarten and elementary school must be knowledgeable in first aid practice and basic life support (BLS) training. Objectives: In the current study, our ambition is to evaluate the orientation level, knowledge, and attitudes around first aid and BLS training of kindergarten and elementary school teachers and parents in the city of Taif, Makkah region. Methods: A cross-sectional study in Taif, Saudi Arabia, targeted kindergarten and elementary school teachers and parents of students enrolled at these levels. There were 648 participants included in this study. The researchers assessed teachers' and parents' knowledge and attitudes around first aid and BLS using a validated, self-administered online questionnaire. Results: The study included 648 participants, including 248 (38.3%) teachers and 400 (61.7%) parents. The socio-demographic analysis showed that 412 (63.6%) are females and 233 (36.5%) are between the ages of 36 and 45 years. Approximately 142 (21.9%) participants reported previous training in the cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) program, though more than half of them (53.5%) had outdated certificates (more than 2 years). The mean total knowledge for our study was 4.6 ± 1.4, with 22.4% of the participants being educated about first aid support and expressing a fair level of CPR foundations. Only a small percentage (2.3%) of the participants exposed a good and adequate theoretical level of knowledge around CPR skills and performance, while most of the contributors unveiled a poor level of knowledge (over 75%). There were no statistically significant differences between parents and teachers (p > 0.05). Finally, numerous participants (85%) appreciated training in the CPR program, and the most common motive was a "wish to avoid unnecessary death". Conclusions: We concluded that a sizable portion of the contributors expressed a lack of proficiency in the fundamental CPR training knowledge and skills, pointing to an alarming public concern. Promisingly, a sizable percentage of participants expressed motivated attitudes toward CPR training. Therefore, additional study and data are required to effectively combat injury, with an emphasis on investigating causes and risk factors, burden and socioeconomic health determinants, community awareness level and desire to contribute, and accessibility for disseminating specific intervention strategies. The coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has resulted in an unprecedented circumstance that has never previously occurred. This has caused the Saudi Arabian people to recognize the necessity of preventive measures and explore alternative systems, such as using natural products (NPs), for treating their infection. Therefore, the specific objectives of this study were to explore the factors that influence the selection of NPs for COVID-19 management and to know the outcome of using NPs in COVID-19 infection management. This observational cross-sectional study was conducted in Saudi Arabia between February and April 2022. The validated pretested questionnaire was distributed among different regions of the country via a purposive snowball sampling procedure. Both descriptive statistics and stepwise regression analyses were carried out to evaluate the parameters related to the use of medicinal plants for the prevention of COVID-19 and the treatment of respiratory symptoms during the pandemic. The data obtained were statistically analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows, version 25 (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY, USA). Of the 677 participants, 65% reported using NPs for themselves or family members during COVID-19. Utilizing NPs is always given priority by a significant (p < 0.001) percentage of survey respondents. Further, a highly significant (p < 0.001) percentage of participants felt that using NPs reduced their COVID-19 symptoms without having any remarkable (p < 0.001) adverse effects. Family and friends (59%) were the most frequent sources of information about utilizing NPs, followed by personal experience (41%). Honey (62.7%) and ginger (53.8%) were the most utilized NP among participants. Moreover, black seeds, garlic and turmeric were used by 40.5%, 37.7% and 26.3% of the surveyors, respectively. Those who used NPs before COVID-19 were 72.9% more likely to use them during COVID-19. NPs are more likely to be used by 75% of people who live in the central part of the country and whose families prefer it. This is true even if other factors are considered, such as the practice of using NPs along with traditional therapies and the fact that some participants' families prefer it. Our findings show that NPs were commonly used to treat COVID-19 infection among Saudi Arabian residents. Close friends and family members mainly encouraged the use of NPs. Overall, the use of NPs was high among those who participated in our study; such practices are strongly impacted by society. It is essential to promote extensive studies to improve the recognition and accessibility of these products. Objectives: To provide an updated estimate to the prevalence of pediatric hematological malignancies )HMs( in the Al-Madinah Al-Munawwara, Saudi Arabia. Methods: This is a retrospective study that was carried out between 2016 and 2022. The study population was comprised of 171 children under 16 who had been diagnosed with HMs. The data was compiled from King Salman Medical City's Maternity and Children's Hospital, Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah, Saudi Arabia. Results: Among the 171 HM patients )64% males and 36% females(, 13 subtypes were identified, with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia having the highest incidence )70.3%(. Acute myelomonocytic leukemia Original Article )8.7%(, T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia )4.7%(, and acute promyelocytic leukemia )3.5%( were the next most common types of HMs. Other rare cases were also found. Conclusion: Prevalence rate can be utilized to monitor the progression of disease incidence. Here, HMs demonstrated a pattern of increasing incidence in males over a 7-year period, with a higher rate in early childhood. There were 13 types of HMs diagnosed, with B-acute lymphocytic leukemia having the highest incidence. Although juvenile cancer is rare, it is nonetheless a significant cause of mortality in children. Objectives: To determine the prevalence of cardiovascular disease (CVD) types in the Asir region of Saudi Arabia and the importance of hematological testing for CVD patients in the context of disease management. Methods: This retrospective study comprised 416 CVD patients, and samples were divided based the type of CVD. The Mann Whitney U test was used to compare patients' hematological markers and coagulation profiles to those of healthy controls. Results: The rate of ischemic heart disease (IHD) was 80.7% that of other CVDs, and the rate of ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) was 37.3% the rate of CVD. Significant differences were observed in the hematological and coagulation parameters of CVD patients compared to the control group. White blood cells (WBC) were significantly higher in STEMI, non- ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI), unstable angina (UA), and heart failure (HF) groups. Red blood cells (RBC) were significantly lower in STEMI, NSTEMI, UA, chronic coronary syndrome (CCS), HF, dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), and ischemic cardiomyopathy (ICM). Red distribution width (RDW) was significantly greater in the HF, DCM, and ICM groups. Prothrombin time (PT) was significantly higher in the STEMI, HF, and DCM groups. Conclusion: ST-elevation myocardial infarction has a higher prevalence rate among CVD patients in the Asir region. Euphorbia plants have a significant place in traditional medicine due to their numerous therapeutic properties, including their anti-tumor effects, which have been observed in several species. In the current study, a phytochemical investigation of Euphorbia saudiarabica methanolic extract led to the isolation and characterization of four secondary metabolites from the chloroform (CHCl3) and ethyl acetate (EtOAc) fractions, which are reported for the first time in this species. One of the constituents, saudiarabicain F (2), is a rare C-19 oxidized ingol-type diterpenoid that has not been previously reported. The structures of these compounds were determined by extensive spectroscopic (HR-ESI-MS, 1D and 2D NMR) analyses. The anticancer properties of the E. saudiarabica crude extract, its fractions and its isolated compounds were examined against several cancer cells. The active fractions were evaluated for their effects on cell-cycle progression and apoptosis induction using flow cytometry. Furthermore, RT-PCR was employed to estimate the gene-expression levels of the apoptosis-related genes. It was demonstrated that the E. saudiarabica CHCl3 and EtOAc fractions suppressed the proliferation of the cancer cells. The MCF-7 cells were the most sensitive to both fractions, with IC50 values of 22.6 and 23.2 µg/mL, respectively. Notably, both fractions caused cell-cycle arrest in the G2/M phase of the treated MCF-7 cells. The inhibition of the MCF-7 cells' proliferation was also linked with apoptosis induction by flow-cytometry analysis. Additionally, the activation of apoptosis by both fractions was demonstrated by an increase in the ratio of Bax to Bcl-2, with an increase in the expression of caspase-7. Among the isolated compounds, glutinol (1) showed potent activity against the MCF-7 cell line, with an IC50 value of 9.83 µg/mL. It is well known that vaccination is the best clinical approach for successfully controlling COVID-19 infection. Understanding the disparities in COVID-19 vaccination apprehension among parents in different societies is crucial for effectively implementing COVID-19 vaccination programs. This observational cross-sectional study was carried out in the Riyadh region of Saudi Arabia between February and April 2022. The validated questionnaire was shared with parents who had children between the ages of five and eleven years. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical methods. Multinomial regression analysis was conducted to determine the factors significantly affecting vaccine-use decisions. Of the 699 participants, 83% of the mothers were between the ages of 35 and 44 years, 67% were university educated, and only 14% were healthcare workers. A large proportion of parents, with an age range of 18–34 years (p = 0.001), and those with a higher income group (p = 0.014), demonstrated significant vaccine hesitancy. Further, parents who received one or two vaccination doses were significantly (p = 0.02) more hesitant than those who received more than two doses of the vaccine. Furthermore, a significantly (p = 0.002) high percentage of parents who follow the Ministry of Health (MOH) guidelines for personal preventive measures were hesitant about their children's vaccination. Concerns about side effects (31.4%) and a lack of safety data (31.2%) on the COVID-19 vaccines were the two most significant reasons for parents to develop vaccine hesitancy. Social media (24.3%), poor perceived immunity (16.3 %), and news articles (15.5%) were the top three contributors to this hesitancy. Vaccinated parents were 8.21 times more likely to be vaccination-hesitant than non-vaccinated parents. Additionally, parents with less education and a COVID-19-positive child at home increased the odds of vaccine hesitancy by 1.66 and 1.48 times, respectively. Overall, one-third of the parents were not prepared to vaccinate their children, and one-quarter of the respondents had not decided about vaccination. This study shows that parents in Riyadh are generally reluctant to vaccinate their children against COVID-19. Study design: descriptive cross-sectional study. Aim: To assess adherence to pharmacological smoking cessation interventions among male smokers in Abha Smoking Cessation clinic, kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Methodology: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted at Abha Smoking Cessation clinic, Southern of Saudi Arabia. The study targeted all the clinic attendants during 2019 G Male smokers who had the first dose on smoking cessation medication were included. Data were collected from participants using electronic questionnaire developed by the researchers after intensive literature review. The questionnaire was sent to the patients electronically to fill and resend again. The data collected were smoker's demographic data, smoking data, prescribed medications, and adherence to medications. Results: A total of 304 male smokers attending the clinic completed the survey questionnaire. Male participants ages ranged from 15-85 years old with mean age of 39.5 ± 12.8 years old. Exact of 50% of the participants were married and 54.3% had university level of education. Nearly 66% of the adherent smokers to the given medication were on Varenicline 1 mg and 65.3% of adherent smokers were on Varenicline 0.5 mg compared to 55.3% and 60.7% among non-adherent group P=.078. About 89% adherent participants succeeded to quit smoking compared to 25.7% of non-adherent group with reported statistical significance P=.001. Conclusions: In conclusion, one out of each three smokers were adherent to the prescribed medication. Burnout syndrome, characterized by chronic unmanageable workplace stress, has been linked to lower gastrointestinal disorders, including irritable bowel syndrome. However, the relationship between burnout syndrome and irritable bowel syndrome among medical health providers and medical students in Saudi Arabia has not been fully explored. This cross-sectional correlational study was conducted in Southern Saudi Arabia from 2021 to 2022 and involved 931 medical health providers and medical students who completed an electronic questionnaire. The study assessed the presence and severity of burnout and irritable bowel syndrome and examined their relationship. Burnout syndrome was evaluated using the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Student Survey (MBI-SS), while irritable bowel syndrome criteria and severity were assessed using validated tools. The study found that 85% of medical health providers and medical students experienced high levels of burnout and irritable bowel syndrome severity, with physicians and nurses mainly affected. Occupational exhaustion was high in 44.4% of participants, while depersonalization was high in 53% of participants. Personal accomplishment was low in 73.5% of participants. Mild, moderate, and severe irritable bowel syndrome was reported in 25.6%, 23.8%, and 12% of participants, respectively. The study highlights a significant association between burnout syndrome and irritable bowel syndrome severity among medical health providers and medical students in Saudi Arabia. These findings underscore the importance of developing effective interventions to prevent and manage burnout syndrome and related health issues among healthcare professionals and medical students in the region. Acute intoxication from chemicals is a major medical emergency that can result in illness and mortality. This retrospective study aims to evaluate acute chemical poisoning incidents among children in Saudi Arabia from 2019 to 2021. A total of 3009 children were recorded as being chemically intoxicated. The SPSS/PC statistics package was used for the statistical analysis. The acute chemical poisoning incidents that occurred in the age groups were <1 year: 237 (7.8%), 1–5 years: 2301 (76.4%), 6–12 years: 214 (7.1%), and 13–19 years: 257 (8.5%). The mean rate of acute chemical poisoning in the northern region was 40.1%. The most common poisonous agents were organic solvents (20.4%) and disinfection agents (22.7%). Interestingly, there is a significant relationship between the different types of acute chemical poisoning and various factors, including gender, age, the location where acute chemical intoxication occurred, the type of exposure, and whether these were intentional or unintentional events. The data suggest that the northern region of Saudi Arabia has had the highest number of recorded incidents of acute chemical poisoning over the last three years (2019–2021). Individuals between 1–5 years old were the worst hit. Organic solvents and detergents were to blame for the acute unintentional chemical poisonings that took place in homes. Therefore, educating the public about chemical poisoning and reducing children's exposure to toxic chemicals requires educational programs, which may help to reduce chemical poisoning occurrence.
