The agri-food sector in our country faces development gaps compared to other states in the European Union. The agricultural potential of our country is high and European Union finances this sector through the two pillars of the Common Agricultural Policy, namely market measures and rural development policy. The paper represents an analysis of GDP, population employed in agriculture, productivity and investments realized in the agricultural sector from Romania, in the period 2009 - 2021. The paper analyses the vegetables and fruits' supply chains in Romania, in the context of better link producers and consumers, finding solutions to encourage production, supply domestic markets with national products, and reduce imports. The objectives are to identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats and to propose measures for overcoming breakdowns and disruptions. Vegetables and fruits have been selected because they have significant importance from both production and consumption approaches. As such, they are considered basic food, as nutritionists recommend that half of human daily diet to contain vegetables and fruits. Furthermore, farmers cultivated them on large areas, because vegetables and fruits return higher income as compared to cereal production. The hypothesis tested is that horticultural supply chains break off in the stage of collecting vegetables and fruits from farmers. This outcome has implications on food consumption, market disequilibria between supply and demand, by the one hand, and imports and exports, by the other. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper investigates the correlation between the number of students from agricultural field and the number of farms in agriculture from Romania. According to the nomenclature of the university specializations, the educational system of the agricultural field is presented in the “Vegetable and animal resources engineering branch”. According to the Government decisions number 140/2017 and 615/ 2017, in the university year 2017 – 2018, in Romania were 22 universities (state and private) that offered a 165 bachelors programs, with a total number 12.420 places. The biggest number of places is offered by the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest, with a total number of 2640 places, representing 21% from the total offer. It is noticed that most students who have opted for an agricultural study program have as residence the countryside and it is feasible to assume that they will reintegrate to another level in agricultural activity. This was the argument that justified us to determine the correlation between the number of student enrolled in the agricultural field and the number of farms in agriculture. From a dynamic point of view, there is a decrease in the number of students as well as the oscillation of the number of agricultural farms but also decreasing. The process of decreasing the number of agricultural farms is mainly supported by the sale. The analysis of the data shows that on an increase with a student in the agricultural field it mitigates the decrease of the number of agricultural farms on average by 12. As well, in the paper it is presented a comparison between Romania and Poland regarding the number of agricultural farms and age of the farmers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Plant biodiversity is important in economic terms in Romania, as well as for the ecosystem aspect maintaining and giving spiritual value and comfort. As a result, the article aims to focus attention on the appreciation of plant species in the center of an inexhaustible source of renewable energy. Agricultural holdings in Romania mainly cultivate cereals, some with records in production (for example maize production in 2018). Cereals are well known for their food potential and animal feed. At the same time, after harvest, cereals leave significant amounts of vegetal parts (straw and stalks), which are an important energy source. Reference is made to the possibility of obtaining the second generation ethanol from lingo-cellulose. So, without endangering food, it is possible to obtain the gasoline in order to ensure transport with low combustion emissions. Knowledge in this field is based on the study of numerous scientific papers and the interpretation of the results in correlation with the specific of the area. An important role is represented by the statistical interpretations that place the study in the field of bioeconomics. The expected result fits into the major concerns at European Union level in the field of environmental protection. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

For Romania, the importance of land arises, first of all, from the position agriculture has in the national economy, but also from its determinant role in ensuring the productive support in the field. The intensified interference in the last years between the Romanian economy and its external partners have induced several and unanticipated mutations. Some of these mutations have disturbing effects in the public opinion regarding the way of farmlands' manifestation under the known attributes of the capitalist market. The mutations produced in the field of land ownership relations from the perspective of causes, effects and solutions represent, in their essence, the topic of this study. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The advantages of the economic growth policy (PCE) are observable by increasing the quality of life and social welfare, but cannot be mathematically quantified at a holistic level. During the achievement of efficiency and result value, recovery syncope can occur as: the disappearance of some medium-term effects (considering that PCE is developed and evaluated on a long-term basis), the causal cause-effect diagram turns into PCE in cost - effect diagnosis and lag for obtaining the effect (benefit) can cause demotivation and, not least, long term east is not defined as a fixed period in which changes can occur, resulting impossibility of quantifying all benefits created here. This paper aims to determine the influence of accessing EU funds on credit to the agricultural sector. From the analysis, it was found that in the period analyzed EU funds exerted a great influence over the banking system, the share of loans to the agricultural sector in total loans from Romania has doubled. However, loans influence European funds as project beneficiaries are forced to turn to external sources for the co-financing due to reduced financial availability. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper represents a detailed analysis of the influences of the agrofood sector of Romania within the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions in the period 1990-2009. In addition, the effects of diminuishing the forestry real estate in Romania have been analysed and pointed out. A dynamic system has been proposed, a dynamic modeling programme Stella, having as a purpose the correlation of the gas emissions from atmosphere to the degree of their absortion and to the way in which the forestry real estate influences the evolution of these ones. At the end, the greenhouse gas emissions forecast was made until the end of 2015. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The paper represents an analysis of the evolution of the investments from the agricultural sector in the period 2006 - 2008, a period that represented the end of the SAPARD in Romania and begging of NRDP, when important amounts of European founds have been accessed by this sector. The investments represent an important indicator to present the effort made by the agricultural exploitation and in order to measure the impact of these investments it has been chosen the turnover as effect indicator. From the analysis, it is shown that only some regions have recorded increases of the turnover in comparison with the investments made because it started the financial crisis and the agricultural sector has been affected like all the other sectors of the economy. This paper represents an analysis of the level of labor productivity in agriculture for each development region of Romania. Labor productivity in agriculture was analyzed by two parameters, namely: the value of agricultural production and the number of employees in agriculture for the period 2011 - 2012. The level of labor productivity is influenced by the quality of biological and bio-capacity of plants and animals as well, as well as the equipment and quality of work performed. From the factorial analysis it can be noticed a decrease of labor productivity caused by a decrease in the value of agricultural production. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper is a detailed analysis of traditional products sector from Romania. Traditional products are certified at national and at Community level. Although Romania has a relatively high number of traditional food products, however, has only one product registered at EU level and that is the Topoloveni jam. The main cause is the lack of association of farmers and procedures that require a long time. In this paper is presented the Romania, situation of traditional products attestation and its evolution during 2005 - 2011, for each food category. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The present paper presents concepts and activities as main components of the agro food system, and an analysis of the degree of compatibility of Romanian agro-food system with the EU. It finds large differences, especially concerning the yields, due to a lack of financial capital and reduced consumption of inputs. One possible solution to bridge this gap, it is considered accessing European funds, through which Romanian producers and processors of agricultural products can invest in the modernization. CULTIVATED plants , *COMMON sunflower , *SUNFLOWERS , *PHENOLOGY , *SUNFLOWER growing , *GROWING season - Abstract
Cultivated sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) is an unusual plant. It is distinguished from all other cultivated plants by its single stem and conspicuous, large inflorescence. A sunflower plant is influenced by both the growth stages from planting to maturity, as well as temperature, day length, nutrition and humidity. Hybrid maturity and crop area also have an effect on the length of the growing season. The study investigated the phenology of three sunflower hybrids grown in the western part of Romania. The yield of these hybrids from the morpho-phenological perspective is being sought in order to identify their adaptability to the cultivated area. To grow best, sunflowers need full sun. They grow best in fertile, moist, well-drained soil with heavy mulch. The results obtained from the measurements show that the studied hybrids behave differently from the environmental conditions encountered in the western part of Romania. In order to reach the objectives, the most important characteristics were measured which reflected the behavior of the hybrids in relation to the environmental factors, namely, the height of the plant, the length of the roots, the number of leaves, the length and width of the leaves, the diameter of the stem, the diameter of the flower buds and the diameter of the inflorescence. Those characteristics determine somewhat the use of the plant-as a source of edible oil, as food for people and animals, or as forage. Floriculturists are interested in the variability in flower color, petal structure, and petal size. Descriptive classes are proposed herein for some morphological characters to improve the uniformity of descriptions of inbred lines and cultivars. Many descriptive characters are affected by the environment, so measurements should be made of plants grown under optimum field conditions. The statistical calculation was performed in Microsoft Office Excel 2016, establishing the coefficient of variation, the standard deviation of the mean and the average of the observed variants. Lucerne (Medicago sativa L.) is a forage species widely cultivated in temperate regions around the world. The numerous varieties of alfalfa currently available on the European market, create a great difficulty for farmers in choosing the most suitable variety for their needs. Precise information on the morphological characters of the varieties existing on the market and their behavior in relation to the environmental conditions, greatly helps the farmers to make their management decisions. Lucerne (Medicago sativa L.) is one of the most valuable crops of fodder plants due to the high production of green table and the superior quality of the fan, being a very popular fodder culture in Romania. The lucerne fan contains 80% calcium, 0.18% phosphorus, 1.23% potassium, 0.22% magnesium and 0.2% sulfur, mineral salts that recommend it for use especially in dairy cows. Lucerne has a wide variety of uses, being one of the most popular herbs, but also a plant widely used in natural treatments. Lucerne has been grown since ancient times in the territory of our country. Lucerne has been cultivated for millennia. Ancient civilizations, such as Mesopotamia, used to cultivate it. Then it was brought to ancient Greece, Africa and eventually to America, through Spanish colonists. The benefits of growing alfalfa. Lucerne has a great capacity to adapt to various climatic conditions. Due to its long roots, the lucerne can absorb a large amount of water. The objectives of this study were to measure and compare the differences in morphological characteristics of the three different varieties of Medicago sativa L. in three years of cultivation in the Jimbolia area. In the area of Jimbolia there are several lucerne growers, being the only fodder plant cultivated in the area in 2019, and establishing a precedent of measurements and comparisons would help these growers and those in the future to determine if their culture is in the standard norms.
