The article narrates deep-diving experiences of the author. The author learned diving when he was serving the U.S. Navy. The diving dress is made of solid sheet of India rubber, covered on both sides with tanned twill cloth. One day his instructor Jake Anderson took the author and his friends into an open thirty-two foot boat and heaved a towline to a small torpedo boat. They were towed to calm spot in Narragansett Bay, near Fort Adams in Rhode Islands. The water was about fifty feet deep. He ordered the author to put on the diving suit and go for a dive.
