We evaluated the efficacy and safety of a povidone-iodine (PVP-I) foam dressing (Betafoam) for donor site dressing versus a hydrocellular foam dressing (Allevyn) and petrolatum gauze. This prospective Phase 4 study was conducted between March 2016 and April 2017 at eight sites in Korea. A total of 106 consenting patients (aged ≥ 19 years, scheduled for split-thickness skin graft) were randomised 1:1:1 to PVP-I foam, hydrocellular, or petrolatum gauze dressings for up to 28 days after donor site collection. We assessed time to complete epithelialisation, proportion with complete epithelialisation at Day 14, and wound infection. Epithelialisation time was the shortest with PVP-I foam dressing (12.74 ± 3.51 days) versus hydrocellular foam dressing (16.61 ± 4.45 days; P = 0.0003) and petrolatum gauze (15.06 ± 4.26 days, P = 0.0205). At Day 14, 83.87% of PVP-I foam dressing donor sites had complete epithelialisation, versus 36.36% of hydrocellular foam dressing donor sites (P = 0.0001) and 55.88% of petrolatum gauze donor sites (P = 0.0146). There were no wound infections. Incidence rates of adverse events were comparable across groups (P = 0.1940). Objectives: To investigate the characteristics of Klinefelter syndrome in a consecutive series of men consulting for sexual as well as fertility problems in Korea., Methods: A total of 179 men with non-mosaic 47,XXY Klinefelter syndrome of the 1876 azoospermic males who visited the fertility center of our university hospital between January 2002 and January 2010 were included in this analysis. Their semen characteristics, hormone profiles, size of the prostate gland, and education level were assessed and compared with an age-matched control group of 218 fertile males. Additionally, a histological evaluation was carried out., Results: Prostate size, testicular volume, semen volume and symptom severity showed statistically significant differences in both groups (P < 0.0001). As the severity of signs and symptoms worsened, the education level decreased. Each degree of signs and symptoms was associated with a different level of education, as well as with significant differences in the level of testosterone and testicular volume (P < 0.05). Spearman's correlation coefficient showed the severity of signs and symptoms was associated with testosterone (P < 0.0001)., Conclusions: Testosterone has the strongest negative association with the severity of signs and symptoms in patients with Klinefelter syndrome. It influences the reproductive capacity, as well as the manifested signs and symptoms of hypogonadism. Purpose: Facial asymmetry can be produced by congenital or acquired factors, and surgical correction is one of the very important and difficult fields in plastic surgery. Zygoma plays a key role to keep facial symmetry, and diverse methods have been tried to correct asymmetric face. We used the malarplasty with tripod osteotomy to correct nontraumatic asymmetric face., Method: From December 2008 to February 2010, 3 patients presenting with facial asymmetry and enophthalmia were selected, and their average age was 18 years. One of the patients has undergone surgeries 4 times without improvement for rare facial cleft no. 4 from other hospitals. The other 2 cases had hypoplastic zygoma complex caused by early enucleation and radiation therapies because of retinoblastoma in their childhood. Through a bicoronal approach, malarplasty and calvarial bone graft were done after tripod osteotomy including the zygomaticofrontal suture, zygomatic arch, and zygoma body., Results: The surgery results were evaluated by radiographic inspection and the photographs of the patients. Differences in preoperative heights of both normal and hypoplastic zygoma-orbit complex in Waters and zygomatic view were estimated. After corrective operation, the height of the zygoma complex was almost close to normal height, and orbital volume was increased, and ectropion was corrected at the same time in patients., Conclusions: Using corrective malarplasty with tripod osteotomy, we achieved satisfactory results of zygoma expansion and improvement in orbital area. Therefore, malarplasty via tripod osteotomy cannot be applied only on the patients with traumatic zygoma deformation, but also on the patients with nontraumatic facial asymmetry.
