Simple Summary: Animal production in mountain regions is changing and improvements to maintain autochthonous breeds and traditions should be defined. One of the strategies to add value and improve productivity is to produce meat with a PDO (protected denomination of origin) label. One example in Portugal is the Arouquesa PDO beef. This work aimed to compare different production systems and understand if they affect growth performance, carcass, and meat parameters for the Arouquesa PDO beef. Systems using supplementation had better results regarding live weight and average daily gain. The finishing period increased subcutaneous fat. The meat quality parameters differ in the improved production system with early weaning leading to lesser exudative and cooking losses. In conclusion, the traditional systems improved with practices, such as supplementation, can in turn improve meat production without affecting beef quality or PDO certification. This study demonstrates that improved production systems can advance the Arouquesa autochthonous breed production, while in turn maintaining the valued characteristics of a PDO product. Arouquesa is an autochthonous bovine breed known for its Arouquesa PDO beef labeling. There are several production systems under the definition of PDO labeling. This study aimed to compare the effect of different production systems on carcass and meat traits for the Arouquesa breed. Two trials differing in diet and weaning age were conducted. The first trial included a TF group fed the traditional way and weaned at 9 months; a TF + S1 group, equal to TF, but with a starter supplement; and finally, a S1 + S2 group that was fed with a starter and a growth supplement and weaned at 5 months. The second trial was composed of a TF + S3 group fed like the TF + S1 group but reared until 12 months with a finishing supplement, and finally, the S3 group fed like the S1 + S2 group but reared until 12 months. In the first trial, the TF + S1 and S1 + S2 groups showed higher final live weight and average daily gain. In the second trial, we observed differences in the subcutaneous fat that was higher in the S3 group. Regarding meat traits, we observed differences in exudative and cooking losses in the first trial. In general, supplementation improved meat production without affecting meat quality parameters. This research assesses the lean and green (LG) practices' impact on the competitive advantage (CA) of organizations, through sustainable performance, considering lean maturity as the moderator. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data from a cross‐sectional sample of 261 companies operating in Portugal. Hypotheses are tested through structural equation modeling and multigroup analysis to examine the lean maturity moderating role. Results demonstrate a positive impact of LG practices on sustainable development and that their three dimensions of CA, with lean maturity boosting most relationships. This research highlights the impact of LG practices on organization's competitiveness and helps them underpin the importance these practices when comes to enhance their sustainable performance and their CA with help of environmental policy and also stakeholder engagement. Future studies should address these relationships upon a specific dimension, namely the correlation between environmental performance and CA, as it was not dealt in this study. Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to investigate the current level of reconfigurability implementation and its impact on manufacturing systems' operational performance empirically. Design/methodology/approach: This study is based on a questionnaire survey. Statistical analysis procedures were adopted to accomplish its objectives, namely, clustering methods based on cluster centroids. An ANOVA analysis was used to test for cluster differences among the variables. Findings: The results show that the manufacturing companies surveyed can be divided into three clusters, with different levels of reconfigurability implemented. The implementation of the core characteristics of reconfigurability depends on the product's complexity and demand variability, in terms of volume and product mix, as these have an impact on the operational performance, in terms of quality, delivery and flexibility. Research limitations/implications: The data for this survey were collected from manufacturing companies based in Portugal. Therefore, the replication of this questionnaire in other countries is recommended for future research to confirm its findings. Practical implications: The questionnaire developed could be used by managers to assess the level of reconfigurability of their production systems and for internal/external benchmarking. The findings may help managers to decide which core characteristics should be implemented in their manufacturing systems. Originality/value: The majority of the research addressing performance issues in reconfigurable manufacturing systems has been applied to case studies. Objective: To translate and perform the cross-cultural adaptation of the Young Spine Questionnaire (YSQ) into Portuguese, and to assess its reliability., Method: Translation and cross-cultural adaptations were conducted according to accepted international standards. A preliminary version underwent pilot-testing with 32 children (11-14 years), equally divided by gender and age. Children were asked to rate each question in terms of clarity and comprehensibility, and to provide general feedback regarding the questionnaire. The final version of the questionnaire was approved by a committee consisting of experts from various fields. Test-retest reliability was assessed on 58 children using Cohen's and Fleiss' Kappa., Results: Translation and cross-cultural adaptation of the YSQ only resulted in minor changes and the children rated all questions as "clear and understandable" in the pilot test, without gender or age differences being detected. Test-retest data was collected with a mean interval of 13 days. Reliability scores ranged from 0.56-0.97, equivalent to "moderate" to "almost perfect" agreement. Most questions (84%) had "substantial" or "almost perfect" agreement., Conclusion: The translation and cross-cultural adaptation of YSQ into Portuguese was successfully performed. This questionnaire was also shown to be reliable, supporting its future use in research projects.

Introduction: The development of Mental Health policies for psychiatric disorders should be driven by a correct knowledge of the socio-demographic, clinical and therapeutic realities of the disease. There is paucity of detailed studies in the Portuguese population that does not allow a direct comparation with other European countries. The objective of the present study is to characterize the sociodemograhic and clinical characteristics of schizophrenia patients in Portugal and the therapeutic patterns., Methods: This multicentric, cross sectional, non interventional study was designed to describe the demographic and clinical data of patients with schizophrenia (n=474), and also the demographic and professional characteristics of their treating psychiatrists., Results: The most frequent diagnosis found was paranoid schizophrenia (54%), with comorbid psychiatric conditions in 39,7% and somatic diseases in 28.4% of the patients. About half the patients were on second generation antipsychotics (SGS) as principal therapy, although haloperidol has been the most frequent drug prescribed as so (35.9 %). 59.51 % of the patients were on antipsychotic monotherapy, and 45% on a depot formulation. Antipsychotic dose vary widely, and they are quite often prescribed on off label doses., Discussion: Our sample is similar to others found in naturalistic studies, however slightly different from clinical trials. In general, patients with schizophrenia tend to be treated with SGA, although have a higher chance to be on a long-term formulation and to be on polytherapy than in other studies. Somatic diseases are maybe under diagnosed and are undertreated.
