The article discusses the highlights of the International Conference on Trends and Perspectives in Linear Statistical Inference LINSTAT' 2008 in Będlewo, Poland from April 21 to 25. Based on the entry, the goal of the conference is to provide an opportunity to researchers to discuss developments in statistics. A profile of Professor Tadeusz Caliński of the University of Poznań is presented. The presentation of researcher Wojciech Rejchel from Poland won the first prize.
