The article examines the distribution and evolution of rudist bivalves in the Pacific in the Late Jurassic to Early Cretaceous periods. In the Tithonian-Berriasian, rudists ranged from Nova Scotia to Japan and none were recorded from the Pacific seamounts during the Valanginian and Hauterivian. The oldest record of caprinuloidinid in the trans-Pacific range extension is from the Osaka formation in the Barremian to Early Aptian. The Pacific seamounts thus hosted rudist fauna from at least Barremian times, earlier than previously recognized.
