Objectives RA patients have an increased risk for cardiovascular diseases, including atrial fibrillation (AF), but the impact of RA on ischaemic stroke risk in the context of AF remains unknown. We explored whether the risk of ischaemic stroke after diagnosis of AF is further increased among patients with RA compared with non-RA patients. Methods In the nationwide Norwegian Cardio-Rheuma Register, we evaluated cumulative incidence and hazard rate of ischaemic stroke after the first AF diagnosis (2750 individuals with RA and 158 879 without RA between 2010 and 2017) by using a competing risk model with a 3-month delayed entry. Results The 5-year unadjusted cumulative incidence of ischaemic stroke was 7.3% (95% CI: 5.9–8.7%) for patients with RA and 5.0% (95% CI: 4.9–5.2%) for patients without RA. Unadjusted univariate analyses indicated that AF patients with RA had a HR of 1.36 (95% CI: 1.13, 1.62) for ischaemic stroke compared with those without RA. Sex- and age-adjusted HR for ischaemic stroke in RA patients with AF was 1.25 (95% CI: 1.05, 1.50), and the effect size remained unchanged after adjustment for diabetes, hypertension, atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease and oral anticoagulant (OAC) treatment. RA patients were less likely to receive OAC treatment than non-RA patients (adjusted odds ratio 0.88, 95% CI: 0.80, 0.97). Conclusion RA patients diagnosed with AF are at a further increased risk for stroke compared with non-RA patients with AF, and less likely to receive OAC treatment, emphasizing the need to improve stroke prevention in AF patients with RA. Objective: To compare primary test positivity in cytology and human papillomavirus-based screening between different Nordic cervical cancer screening programs using harmonized register data. Methods: This study utilized individual-level data available in national databases in Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. Cervical test data from each country were converted to standard format and aggregated by calculating the number of test episodes for every test result for each calendar year and one-year age group and test method. Test positivity was estimated as the proportion of positive test results of all primary test episodes with a valid test result for "any positive" and "clearly positive" results. Results: The age-adjusted rate ratio for any positive test results in primary human papillomavirus-based screening compared to cytology was 1.66 (95% CI 1.64–1.68). The age-adjusted rate ratio for clearly positive test results was 1.02 (95% CI 1.00–1.05). A decreasing rate ratio by age was seen in both any positive and clearly positive test results. Test positivity increased over time in Iceland, Norway, and Sweden but slightly decreased in Finland. Conclusions: The probability of any positive test result was higher in human papillomavirus testing than in primary cytology, even though the cross-sectional detection of a clearly positive test result was the same. Human papillomavirus testing can still lead to an improved longitudinal sensitivity through a larger number of follow-up tests and the opportunity to identify women with a persistent human papillomavirus infection. Aims: To estimate sick leave (SL) duration after first-time elective open-heart surgery and identify factors contributing to increased SL., Methods and Results: A retrospective nationwide cohort study combined data from the Norwegian Register for Cardiac Surgery and SL data from the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administrations. All able-bodied adults who underwent first-time elective open-heart surgery in Norway between 2012 and 2021 were followed until 1 year after surgery. The impact of socio-demographic and clinical factors on SL after surgery was analysed using logistic regression and odds ratios. Of 5456 patients, 1643 (30.1%), 1798 (33.0%), 971 (17.8%), 1035 (18.9%), and 9 (0.2%) had SL of <3, 3-6, 6-9, and 9-12 months, and 1 year, respectively. SL >6 months was associated with female gender, primary education only, and average annual income. Post-operative stroke, post-operative renal failure, New York Heart Association Functional Classification system (NYHA) score >3, earlier myocardial infarction, and diabetes mellitus increased the odds of SL >6 months., Conclusion: This study demonstrates that socio-demographic and clinical factors impact SL after first-time elective open-heart surgery. Patients who experience a stroke or develop renal failure after surgery have the highest odds of SL >6 months. Females and patients with low education levels, earlier myocardial infarction, or NYHA scores III-IV have a two-fold chance of SL >6 months. Background: Increasing attention has been given to the long-term effects of assisted reproductive technology (ART). This study assessed the validity and completeness of ART as registered in the Medical Birth Registry of Norway (MBRN) using drug prescription data from the Norwegian Prescription Database (NorPD) as reference.Methods: In this nationwide registry validation study, we included all pregnancies recorded in the MBRN between 2005 and 2017. We estimated sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative predictive value (PPV and NPV) of the MBRN, using data from the NorPD as reference. We obtained the total percentage of ART pregnancies that could be identified (completeness) from both registries using the capture-recapture method. We analyzed subgroups by maternal age, gestational length, mode of ART treatment, health region, and mode of registration of ART (ART institution or birth notification form).Results: Twenty-three thousand seven hundred eighteen of a total 765,789 pregnancies were registered as ART pregnancies through the MBRN and 20,807 as ART pregnancies through the NorPD. The sensitivity of the MBRN was 85.1% (95% confidence interval [CI] = 84.7, 85.6) and the PPV was 74.7% (74.1-75.2). Sensitivity declined with increasing maternal age: 71.5% (69.4-73.7) in the age group 40-44 years, and 40.7% (22.2-59.3) in the ages above 45 years. Completeness when combining data was 96.2% (96.0-96.5).Conclusions: Our analysis shows that, when identifying women pregnant through ART, NorPD data complemented MBRN data to obtain a more complete count of all women giving birth after ART in Norway.
