CULTURAL pluralism - Abstract
The article focuses on cultural cohesion. In 2002, 44 top executives of major arts projects in 12 different countries, from Norway to the Netherlands, Canada to Luxembourg came together under the aegis of the Council of Europe and the Arts Council of England, and under the magnificent chandeliers of London's Royal Opera House. They were faced with the task of working out just how UNESCO's aim of the public domain as a "shared space" could be achieved, from their perspective. As a body, they assessed the local situation and set up projects and structures that answered it.
