Increasingly, school leaders and teachers are being expected to use digital technologies to collect data to analyze, plan and organize teaching and learning. Such expectations can be traced to a number of policy initiatives over the last decade. This study is concerned with how educational policy puts forward ambitions of digital school leadership and teaching practices by deploying the concept of policy assemblage. We analyzed six policy documents from Ireland and Norway to identify the actors assembled to fulfill governmental ambitions and practices with digital technologies in schools. The unpacking of actors that may partake in such assemblages was visualized and analyzed using visual network analysis. The findings indicate digital school leadership and teaching practices in Ireland and Norway have the potential to be steered by digital actors that facilitate multiple activities at once and shed light on the diverse and multifaceted relationships that make up these governing practices.

The transition zone between the upper forest boundary and the treeless alpine vegetation (i.e., the treeline ecotone) is expected to shift upward in elevation with global warming. Multiple factors in addition to climate are influencing tree establishment, but it is uncertain to what degree. In this study, we took advantage of a unique dataset with field measurements of mountain birch trees acquired from 32 boreal–alpine treeline ecotone sites situated along a 1100‐km latitudinal gradient in Norway to investigate the role of climate, herbivory, topography, and vegetation on the establishment success of trees. To represent tree establishment, we recorded occurrence, survival, and height growth of short juvenile birch trees (stem height ≤1 m) as response variables at each site in 2008, 2012, and 2018. We used already available climate and herbivory data, and airborne laser scanning (ALS) and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) surveyed imagery together with field measurements to compute topography and vegetation explanatory variables per site on microsite scale (approx. 1 m2). We observed a clear decrease in short juvenile birch tree establishment due to livestock herbivory, evidenced by lower occurrence, reduced survival rate, and diminished height growth in treeline ecotones with higher livestock densities. Winter precipitation and the two land cover classes, tree‐covered area and lee side vegetation, were also important for tree establishment. However, the direction and magnitude of the relationships depended on the stage of establishment. While winter precipitation can lead to higher tree occurrence, long‐term survival is not necessarily ensured, reflecting diverse requirements for optimal conditions of tree establishment. Thus, our results show that occurrence, survival, and height growth of short juvenile birch trees differ in their requirements to climate, topography, and vegetation, but tree establishment is consistently low with livestock herbivory. Overall, our results suggest that treeline ecotones will shift toward higher elevations in areas with little or no livestock herbivory and close to already established trees and in lee sides. Regarding management and conservation issues, our results suggest that free‐roaming livestock can reduce tree establishment and hinder treeline ecotone shifts into threatened alpine ecosystems, at least for birch‐dominated treelines. • Penile cancer prognosis by TNM stages does not depend on human papillomavirus status. • Predicting metastatic nodes by T-stage does not depend on human papillomavirus status. • Predicting metastatic nodes by Grade does not depend on human papillomavirus status. Penile squamous cell carcinoma (PSCC) can develop from human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. This study investigates if the prognostic value of the TNM stage groups or the components tumor stage (pT), grade of differentiation (Grade), lymphovascular invasion (LVI), and nodular stage (pN) depend on HPV status. Also, whether the value of tumor parameters (pT, Grade, and LVI) for predicting node-positive disease depends on HPV status was investigated. Stored tumor tissue from 226 patients treated for PSCC in Western Norway between 1973 and 2023 was investigated for HPV DNA. Histopathological variables were reevaluated according to the current TNM classification. Disease course was registered from hospital records. Inclusion of an interaction term between HPV and TNM stage groups in Cox regression enabled analysis of whether cancer-specific survival (CSS) of the stage groups depended on HPV status. This was also done separately for pT, Grade, LVI, and pN. Logistic regression with interaction terms between HPV and the tumor parameters were used to investigate if their predictive value depended on HPV status. HPV DNA was detected in 43% of the tumors. Stratified by HPV status, there was no significant interaction term in the Cox regression between HPV status and TNM stage groups (P =.74). Similar results were found for pT (P =.94), Grade (P =.08), LVI (P =.91) and pN (P =.77). Moreover, there were no significant interaction terms in the logistic regression between HPV status and the tumor parameters pT, Grade, and LVI (all P >.2). This study found that prognosis of the TNM stage groups and the components pT, Grade, LVI, and pN were not modified by HPV in PSCC. The value of pT, Grade, and LVI for predicting lymph node-positive disease was not affected by HPV status. Penile cancer can develop from infection with human papillomavirus (HPV). This study investigated if the prognostic value of the TNM stage groups was different for patients with HPV-positive compared to HPV-negative tumors. Skiing is an important part of Norwegian culture, but as climate change leads to warmer, more variable winters, the ski industry needs to adapt. Despite the growing literature on climate change impacts on ski tourism, adaptation options, particularly beyond snowmaking, barriers and the financial and visitor experience implications remain under-researched. Employing projections for future snow and snowmaking conditions, this paper investigates adaptive capacity among seven Western Norwegian ski resorts. Adaptive capacity is examined in terms of physical situation, technology, economic resources, innovative ability, networks and institutions. We find that smaller resorts make up for poor economic performance by drawing on local community support and by implementing innovative efforts to diversify income. Nonetheless, despite high adaptive capacity with respect to networks, institutions and innovative ability, increased snow production costs will make operations in three low-lying resorts unviable as early as the 2030s, with salient implications for winter tourism patterns, small community economies and future participation in the sport. The results also suggest that studies using snow production model projections that represents physical and technical adaptive capacity only, may be conservative in their estimated impact of future climate change. Aim: In this study, we explored spatial patterns of phylogenetic diversity (PD) and endemism in the flora of Norway and tested hypothesized post‐glacial environmental drivers of PD, including temperature, precipitation, edaphic factors and time since glacial retreat. Location: Norway. Taxon: Vascular plants (Trachaeophyta). Methods: We produced a multi‐locus maximum‐likelihood (ML) phylogeny using a combination of newly produced DNA sequences from herbarium specimens and sequences available from public repositories. We combined the phylogeny with species occurrence data to estimate PD and phylogenetic endemism across Norway, using a spatial randomization to judge statistical significance. We used multiple‐model inference to identify environmental variables that contributed the most to the patterns of PD. Finally, we estimated phylogenetic turnover and used this to identify Norwegian plant assemblages in terms of composition and evolutionary history. Results: Our ML phylogeny contained 87% of all currently described native Norwegian vascular plants. Assemblages were phylogenetically overdispersed in warmer and wetter regions of Norway, as well as in regions with a longer post‐glacial history. In cold and dry regions, plant assemblages were phylogenetically clustered, and characterized by neo‐endemism, while the mild and wet regions were characterized by both paleo‐ and neo‐endemism. PD was positively correlated with summer temperature and habitat heterogeneity, and peaked in the southeast of Norway. Main conclusions: Both contemporary ecological factors (climate and habitat heterogeneity), and post‐glacial history seem to have shaped the phylogenetic structure of the flora of Norway. The flora in the far north of Norway appear to be a result of recent diversification while the coastal regions are assemblages of deeper lineages. A stalagmite from northern Norway is dated with 12 thermal ionization mass spectrometry U-Th dates, and at least four separate growth periods are identified that correspond with marine isotope stages 9, 11, 13, and probably 15. The calcite is tested for isotopic equilibrium with the Hendy test. Oxygen isotope measurements on 231 subsamples on a vertical transect are used as a paleotemperature proxy. The detailed isotopic record from MIS 9 show apparent similarities to a Holocene record from the same cave, both in the climatic evolution and the overall temperatures: both show temperature oscillations changing from high-frequency, low-amplitude cycles in the beginning of the interglacial period to lower frequency, higher amplitude cycles in the later part of the interglacial period. The isotope record from MIS 11 shows a distinct isotopic event toward heavier values. The isotopic record together with the porous, humus-rich calcite are interpreted as indicating a warmer than present interglacial period with several episodes of heavy rainfall. The use of closed flexible bags is among the suggestions considered as a potential way to expand the salmon production in Norway. Few ocean structures exist with large, heavily compliant submerged components, and there is presently limited existing knowledge about how aquaculture systems with flexible closed cages will respond to external sea loads. The flexibility and deformation of the bag are coupled to the hydrodynamic forces, and the forces and deformation will be dependent on the filling level of the bag. In order to get a better understanding of the drag forces on, and deformation of, such bags, experiments were conducted with a series of closed flexible bags. The bags were towed in a towing tank in order to simulate uniform current. Four different geometries were investigated, cylindrical, cubical, conical, and pyramidal, and the filling levels were varied between 70% and 120%. The main findings from the experiments were that the drag force was highly dependent on the filling level, and that the drag force increases with decreasing filling level. Comparing the drag force on a deflated bag with an inflated one showed an increase of up to 2.5 times. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: To translate and evaluate the validity of the Participation Assessment with Recombined Tools-Objective (PART-O) in a Norwegian context., Methods: One hundred and twenty persons with TBI with verified intracranial lesions and persistent symptoms lasting more than 2 years, included in a randomized controlled trial, rated their participation using the PART-O at baseline. The PART-O with its three subscales (Productivity, Out and About, and Social Relations) was translated to Norwegian. Descriptive statistics, Cronbach's alpha, Rasch analysis, and correlation analysis were applied., Results: The Rasch analysis indicated a unidimensional construct of PART-O and its subscales (χ2 < 12.69, p  > 0.28). The internal consistency was moderate (Cronbach's alpha 0.48-0.52) and there was a need to reduce scaling options for most of the items. The Out and About and Productivity subscales had considerable floor effects. PART-O showed moderate positive correlation to TBI-related quality of life and global functioning., Conclusions: PART-O and its subscales reflect unidimensional aspects of participation. In the present Norwegian TBI population the original scaling of PART-O was too detailed for all subscales. The floor effects and suboptimal targeting between items and subjects participation level of the Out and About subscale is a matter of concern.

Importance: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) can cause long-lasting and heterogeneous difficulties that require an individually tailored approach to rehabilitation. However, high-quality studies of treatment options in the chronic phase of TBI are lacking., Objective: To evaluate the effect of a home-based, individualized, and goal-oriented rehabilitation intervention in the chronic phase of TBI., Design, Setting, and Participants: This study was an intention-to-treat parallel-group assessor-blinded randomized clinical trial with 1:1 randomization to an intervention or control group. Participants included adults in southeastern Norway who had sustained a TBI more than 2 years earlier, lived at home, and had ongoing TBI-related difficulties. A population-based sample of 555 individuals were invited, and 120 were included. Participants were assessed at baseline, 4 months, and 12 months after inclusion. Specialized rehabilitation therapists provided the intervention in patients' homes or via video conference and telephone. Data collection was conducted between June 5, 2018, and December 14, 2021., Interventions: The intervention group received an 8-session individually tailored and goal-oriented rehabilitation program over 4 months. The control group received usual care in their municipality., Main Outcomes and Measures: Preestablished primary outcomes were disease-specific health-related quality of life (HRQOL; measured by the Quality of Life After Brain Injury [QOLIBRI] overall scale) and social participation (measured by the Participation Assessment With Recombined Tools-Objective [PART-O] social subscale). Preestablished secondary outcomes included generic HRQOL (measured by the EuroQol 5-dimension 5-level [EQ-5D-5L] questionnaire), difficulty with TBI-related problem management (target outcomes; mean severity calculated across 3 main self-identified problem areas that were individually measured using a 4-point Likert scale), TBI symptoms (measured by the Rivermead Post Concussion Symptoms Questionnaire [RPQ]), psychological distress (depression and anxiety; measured by the Patient Health Questionnaire 9-item scale and the Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item scale [GAD-7], respectively), and functional competency (measured by the Patient Competency Rating Scale)., Results: Among 120 participants in the chronic phase of TBI, the median (IQR) age was 47.5 (31.0-55.8) years, and the median (IQR) time since injury was 4 (3-6) years; 85 (70.8%) were male. A total of 60 participants were randomized to the intervention group, and 60 were randomized to the control group. Between baseline and 12 months, no significant between-group effects were found for the primary outcomes of disease-specific HRQOL (QOLIBRI overall scale score: 2.82; 97.5% CI, -3.23 to 8.88; P = .30) or social participation (PART-O social subscale score: 0.12; 97.5% CI, -0.14 to 0.38; P = .29). At 12 months, the intervention group (n = 57) had significantly higher generic HRQOL (EQ-5D-5L score: 0.05; 95% CI, 0.002-0.10; P = .04) and fewer symptoms of TBI (RPQ total score: -3.54; 95% CI, -6.94 to -0.14; P = .04) and anxiety (GAD-7 score: -1.39; 95% CI, -2.60 to -0.19; P = .02) compared with the control group (n = 55). At 4 months only, the intervention group (n = 59) had significantly less difficulty managing TBI-related problems (target outcomes mean severity score: -0.46, 95% CI, -0.76 to -0.15; P = .003) compared with the control group (n = 59). No adverse events were reported., Conclusions and Relevance: In this study, no significant results were observed for the primary outcomes of disease-specific HRQOL or social participation. However, the intervention group reported improvements in secondary outcomes (generic HRQOL and symptoms of TBI and anxiety) that were maintained at 12-month follow-up.
