The article examines trends in demographics and social service delivery that profoundly impact the Jewish people in North America and around the world. The strength and vitality of the Jewish people, now and into the future depend on threats and opportunities, which include increasing longevity, increasing economic wellbeing, continuing poverty in some population segments, increased diversity within and beyond the Jewish community, and changing methodologies for addressing human needs and enriching Jewish life. However, the Jewish community can address the threats and opportunities by responding through service delivery, community building, public policies and legislative advocacy.
