Uncertain times require prompt reflexes to survive and this study is a collaborative reflex to better understand uncertainty and navigate through it. The Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic hit hard and interrupted many dimensions of our lives, particularly education. As a response to interruption of education due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this study is a collaborative reaction that narrates the overall view, reflections from the K12 and higher educational landscape, lessons learned and suggestions from a total of 31 countries across the world with a representation of 62.7% of the whole world population. In addition to the value of each case by country, the synthesis of this research suggests that the current practices can be defined as emergency remote education and this practice is different from planned practices such as distance education, online learning or other derivations. Above all, this study points out how social injustice, inequity and the digital divide have been exacerbated during the pandemic and need unique and targeted measures if they are to be addressed. While there are support communities and mechanisms, parents are overburdened between regular daily/professional duties and emerging educational roles, and all parties are experiencing trauma, psychological pressure and anxiety to various degrees, which necessitates a pedagogy of care, affection and empathy. In terms of educational processes, the interruption of education signifies the importance of openness in education and highlights issues that should be taken into consideration such as using alternative assessment and evaluation methods as well as concerns about surveillance, ethics, and data privacy resulting from nearly exclusive dependency on online solutions.

Largemouth Bass Micropterus salmoides are the focus of a billion‐dollar (US$1 × 109) recreational fishery in North America and are subject to widespread hatchery supplementation efforts. Parentage‐based tagging (PBT) uses genetic samples taken from hatchery broodstock to genetically "tag" offspring and represents a valuable approach to inform fisheries management and assess hatchery contributions in the wild. This study used a robust microsatellite panel for PBT with Largemouth Bass that reliably discriminated among individuals and siblings and that had low parentage error rates (i.e., false assignments). Genetic data from three cohorts of hatchery broodstock (184 individuals sampled across 3 years) were used to quantify the impacts of planting 150,346 fingerling Largemouth Bass into Lake Mattamuskeet, North Carolina. Parentage‐based tagging detected low overall levels of hatchery contributions in the wild (4.1%), which varied as a function of collection year (range = 1.5–7.7%). Furthermore, hatchery contributions varied by broodstock cohort, with PBT detections being attributed to broodstock from only two of the three stocking years. The application of PBT for Largemouth Bass represents a cost‐effective and practical approach to tag large numbers of hatchery offspring, monitor supplementation efforts, and evaluate the efficacy of different hatchery practices. This document is a report on the findings of a study aims to investigate human motivations affecting an adoption decision for smartphone among Peruvian university students. This research investigates smartphone users' perception using technology acceptance model (TAM). It is analyzed perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness and attitude toward to keep using a smartphone as determinants for behavioral intention to keep using a smartphone between Peruvian university students, evaluating them with reliability and validity and confirming the hypotheses elaborated for the study. Findings indicate that the behavioral intention to keep using a smartphone (BIU) was significantly influenced by perceived ease of use (PEOU), perceived usefulness (PU) and attitude toward to keep using a smartphone (AKUS) and also, PEOU influenced significantly to PU. This study not only provides valuable information about students' the intention to keep using a smartphone, but also enriches the current literature, focusing on Peru, which has a different commercial characteristics and cultural background as compared to North America, Europe and Asia. Abstract: Barrel racing is one of the most popular uses of the American Quarter horse in North and South America. Although injury to the metacarpophalangeal joint frequently occurs in this sport, there is limited information describing the nature of these injuries. The aim of this study was to determine the most common radiographic abnormalities in barrel racing horses with lameness referable to the metacarpophalangeal joint. Lameness examinations were performed on 63 barrel racing horses. Those found to be lame were subjected to radiographic examination. Lameness at trot was scored on a scale of 0-5 (0 = sound; 5 = inability to move). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis. Of horses examined, 30 (47.6%) were lame with scores ranging from 1 to 4. Half of the lame horses (15 of 30) had grade 2 lameness of the right forelimb. Abnormal radiographic findings were more often present on the left forelimb and included signs of sesamoiditis (70%), villonodular synovitis (56.6%), osteoarthritis (36.6%), osteochondritis dissecans (13.3%), capsulitis (13.3%), and soft-tissue swelling (6.6%). Radiographic abnormalities indicated that sesamoiditis, villonodular synovitis, and osteoarthritis may be associated to mild-to-moderate lameness in barrel racing horses. Complementary sonographic evaluation is recommended to better characterize soft-tissue abnormalities. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

This paper examines notions of deviance by looking at the strategy of direct action employed by Greenpeace Philippines in its environmental activism. The environmental movement is often considered a more peaceful social movement. However, in the West, where direct actions by radical ecological grassroots movements are sometimes violent, environmental activism has come to be synonymous with eco- terrorism. While the methods employed by Greenpeace are always nonviolent, this deviant identification is nevertheless retained. Such a stigma is prevalent mainly in North America and Western Europe, but has not been as readily extended to Greenpeace Philippines. This paper shows how the organization has actually been repeatedly forgiven for its deviant direct actions, as evinced, for instance, by the rarity of legal action filed against Green Peace Philippines and its activists. This research in progress puts forward a more positive understanding of deviance - as an expression of agency and a concrete manifestation of love for nature. As a strategy, deviance has been crucial to the transformative character of Greenpeace as an organization. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
