The article presents the first report of rust caused by Phragmidium violaceum on wild blackberries in Turkey. In October 2008, rust-like symptoms were observed on nearly 25% of Rubus fructicosus, wild blackberry plants in some districts of Hatay, a province in Turkey. On the basis of morphological characteristics, rust fungus was identified as Phragmidium violaceum which was reported in Australia, Iran, and New Zealand on several species of Rubus.
