Abstract

The article focuses on a study which investigated the rate of discrepancy in pulmonary function test interpretation between the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD/PP) and lower limit normal (LLN) methods. The study compared the prebronchodilator lung function results of GOLD/PP and LLN in adult patients from Great Britain, New Zealand and the U.S. Study authors concluded that the GOLD/PP method shows clinically relevant biases in assessing disease status, which can be avoided by LLN.
