The article describes the house of museum curator Alexandra Munroe in Manhattan, New York City which was designed by interior decorators Celia Imrey and Tim Culbert of Imrey Culbert. Munroe chose them because she knew they could create the classical, minimal Japanese aesthetic she wanted. Imrey and Culbert transformed the hallway into a gallery area, with a traditional tokonoma, an alcove where scrolls are displayed alongside flowers or other arrangements.
