Abstract

The article discusses the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines for HIV testing in the U.S. and presents a study which describes fast and conventional HIV testing practices and referrals to services after testing to homeless youth in New York City. Homeless youth participated in the structured interviews with 82% of the youth reporting that they were tested for HIV in the previous year. Youth reported that referrals to services post-HIV testing were less than 44%.
