The article discusses 16 Romanesque sculptures, many of which are of Jesus Christ or as a child with his mother Mary, that are being presented at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City in 1985. The pieces come from cities in France and Germany. Two of the pieces discussed, titled "Virgin and Child in Majesty," and "Torso of Christ From a Deposition," come from Auvergne, France, and date back to the 12th century. A third piece discussed in the article entitled "Voussoir Angel," is from Burgundy, France, and dates back to circa 1130. Photographs of the sculptures described are included in the article.
