This article introduces the August 2011 issue by way of exploring the impact of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in New York City on international relations between the U.S., Israel, and Palestine. The author reflects on the military course of action and domestic policy taken by the U.S. government since the attacks. Despite the possibility of increased attacks within the U.S., the lack of any sustained domestic attacks is attributed to the U.S.'s open society.
