Abstract

The article discusses extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) therapy which is given to the patient after the failure of medical and surgical options who are exposed to the effects of uncompensated insensible water loss which results in hypernatraemia. The focus of the study is to explore the degree of water loss that occurs from the Hilite 2400LT oxygenator and to determine the amount of heat or humidity that alleviates water loss.
