The article offers news briefs in New Guinea's science and research section. A study was initially conducted at the Bronx Zoo in New York where 22 echidnas were attached with transmitters. Echidnas (Zaglossus bartoni) are known to be one of the world's oldest, shyest, endangered specie found in the rain forests of New Guinea. Results of the study revealed that the neocortex which serves the brain's reasoning function accounts 50 percent of an echidna's brain, compared to humans where the neocortex accounts 30 percent of the brain.
