Abstract

The article focuses on a palm expedition to Gag Island, an off-shore island in northwestern New Guinea. It focuses on geographic location of Gag Island which belongs to the Raja Ampat Archipelago, and biogeographic significance of the Gag and other islands in this region. It focuses on the biodiversity of the island which is one of the most threatened palm habitats in New Guinea. It also focuses on palm species found on the island including Calamus zollingeri Becc., and Daemonorops sp.
