The article discusses the discovery of the upper Ladinian Ammonoids at the type locality of the lower Carnian Desatoyense zone in South Canyon, New Pass Range, Nevada. It describes the significance of the region with its rich ammonoid faunas and cnidarians. Two ammonoid faunas were reported from the region, the older fauna considered to be equivalent to Sutherlandi Zone and the younger fauna representing Johnston's classic fauna in the Desatoyense Zone.
