The article presents a study which examined the emission of the greenhouse gas nitrous oxide (N
2 O) by coastal marine invertebrate species at substantial rates. For this study, the researchers used a total of 19 invertebrate species that were collected in the German Wadden Sea and in Aarhus Bay, Denmark. It has been found that among the important determinants of animal-associated N2 O production were body weight and exoskeletal biofilms. A table that lists those tested for N2 O emission is provided such as Carnicus maenas, Pagurus bernhardus and Hydrobia ulvae.- Published
