Abstract

A recent study conducted at the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University in Nanning, China, focused on establishing a population pharmacokinetics (PPK) model of cyclosporine A (CsA) in pediatric patients with thalassemia undergoing allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). The study aimed to provide a reference for individualizing the clinical dose of CsA. The researchers found that weight, post-operative day, fluconazole, voriconazole, posaconazole, and red blood cell count significantly influenced the clearance of CsA. A recent study conducted in Nanning, People's Republic of China, has developed a highly sensitive and specific self-powered biosensing platform for detecting the thalassemia gene CD122. The platform utilizes long-chain branched DNA nanostructures and two-dimensional graphdiyne modified with gold nanoparticles. The system achieves detection through electrochemical and colorimetric methods, with a linear response range of 0.0001-10,000 pM and a detection limit as low as 12.1 aM. A recent study conducted at the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University in Nanning, China, explored the clinical factors associated with cardiac iron deposition in children with beta-thalassemia major (b-TM). The researchers found that genotype and corrected QT interval were predictors of cardiac iron deposition, with the b/b genotype and longer corrected QT interval being associated with a higher likelihood of deposition.
