This article presents information on the various socio-political development in India. One of them being the issue of prostitution. Prostitution, crime control and law and order are directly under the purview of state-level legislators and not under that of a Member of Parliament. Kamathipura, is Bombay's largest red-light area. Prostitution is a phenomenon compelled by abject poverty and is voluntarily taken to by individuals. If they are concentrated in one mass in Bombay, this is purely for historical reasons.
