The present paper represents a diagnosis of the national culture in the Republic of Moldova, which led to a pertinent analysis of interculturality based on the values of intercultural dimensions according to the Hofstede and Trompenaars-Hampden-Turner models. The contemporary business environment, characterized by a high degree of globalization and multicultural diversity, emphasizes the importance of developing a better understanding of intercultural interaction, but starting with the very essence, their own nation cultural features. Also, we have identified and described intercultural management strategies as being a component part of efficient management, which can be used to increase the performance of enterprises in the Republic of Moldova within the country and abroad. As for now, the concept of organisational culture is a highly debated topic in the academic environment, developing with rapid ascent from defining the term to being the subject of various studies that investigate the correlation between organisational culture and organisational performance, as well as ways to improve the financial indicators by changing the culture at the enterprise level. Speaking of enterprise management in the Republic of Moldova, the organisational culture is not regarded as a technique to improve organisational performance yet. Therefore, a study was conducted in order to identify methods to improve the organisational culture of autochthonous enterprises. The results made it obvious that within the organisations from the Republic of Moldova, while employees would prefer a clan type organisational culture, the hierarchical culture prevails. Consequently, the need to address this problem and come with solutions to facilitate the development of adhocracy and clan organisational culture elements arises, which contribute to increasing organisational commitment and civic behaviour, encouraging creative thinking and innovation. This paper aims to assess if the perception and understanding of Sustainable Development is linked to the cultural background, namely the Cultural Dimensions established by Geert Hofstede or not. This research aims to evaluate if there are differences between Romanian and Moldavian civil servants concerning the way that sustainable development is being implemented. Considering the fact that the territory of today's Republic of Moldova was once part of Romania, the study tries first to identify if the Scores for the cultural dimensions of Geert Hofstede are similar or not and, further, to seek out if there are any correlations between these scores and the way sustainability is being adopted. For this, an extensive questionnaire has been submitted to Civil Servants from the City Halls in Moldova and Romania. Additionally, interviews with decision makers have been carried out. This Study is part of a post-doctoral fellowship and the findings will hopefully contribute to a better understanding of the concept of Sustainability, in general and, in particular of its motto: "Think globally, act locally!" Additionally we hope it will provide some considerations on the "footprint" culture leaves on every aspect of "the way people communicate, perpetuate and develop knowledge about and attitudes towards life" (Clifford Geertz, 1973).
