This paper seeks to make a preliminary reflection on the memory paths originated from facing the environmental catastrophe occurred in the districts of Bento Rodrigues, Paracatu de Baixo and Paracatu de Cima, located in Mariana, Minas Gerais, in November 2015. Through the traumatic experience of the disaster, the destruction of the villages, covered with toxic mud, how the citizens socially construct space and time? The main form of struggle of the affected cities' residents is the acts of memory, as they call them: texts, videos, newspapers, profiles and websites, which represent a way of speech (expression, communication) to those who did not suffer the trauma. As well as a form to reach the public sphere, so they can incorporate their narratives silenced by the action of the company responsible which does not recognize most of these citizens as victims of the disaster.
