The article is the result of two researches of Scientific Initiation, realized in a city of the South of Minas Gerais. One research investigated the issue of in service training for public school teachers and the other the behaviors of the students called "generation Y" in the classroom. The two researches were planned together with the objective of identifying if there is an attention of the professionals to the changes that have been occurring in the profile of the children and young people who arrive at the schools: the generation of the technological age. It was also intended to call attention to a rethink about the training courses and how they are being organized. It was questioned in the polls: How are teachers preparing to deal with this generation of the technological age, the called digital natives, and what do they know about the students who are coming to class today? The researches are bringing up several questions that involve the process of teacher training, currently called in service training, that directly affect the quality of the class and the educational results. The issue of continuing education in service has gained prominence in the field of educational policies since the 1990s with the publication of the National Education and Guidelines (LDB) Law No. 9,394 / 1996. The Continuing education is currently considered a sine qua non condition to guarantee the quality of education and teaching in this scenario of accelerated changes and increasingly advanced technologies.
