Abstract

The article presents information on the book "Arabian Oil: America's Stake in the Middle East," by Raymond F. Mikesell and Hollis B. Chenery. The authors of the latest book on the subject are aware of the fact that not all the heat about the Middle East is generated by liquid fuel alone. They say so explicitly if only in passing. Yet the very title of their book has been allowed to stress the prevailing misconception that oil is just about the sole factor in Americans' steadily increasing interest in the Middle East.
