The article focuses on the efforts made by the city government of Mexico to reconstruct its neighborhoods that were destroyed by the 1985 earthquake. As part of the planning process for the reconstruction, engineers investigated the types of damages that incurred by the buildings. According to the authors, one of the lessons learned by the city and its people regarding this earthquake incident was the fact that most of the infrastructure in Mexico City were poorly built.
